We spent $1,600 on bats for this video… drop a like please lol Part 1 (2:09): On-field performance testing Part 2 (18:05): Durability testing Part 3 (25:20): Exit velocity testing
Wood bat content is the reason I watch and stay on this channel. Everything else is great fun for me, but as a washed 28 year old men’s league player… this is my bread and butter
@@jonathandowney7291 I switch a lot. For the past few years I’ve used a 33.5 Marucci Maple CU26, or a Trinity bats 34’ T271. Trying out the 33.5 Dovetail Bats I13 right now and like them
@@jonathandowney7291 for the last few years I’ve used a 33.5 Marucci CU26, or a 34’ Trinity Bats T271. I’m trying out the 33.5 Dovetail Bats I13 SD series right now in birch and like it a lot
@baseballbatbros In case you guys were wondering, that discoloration on the barrel of that Dove Tail bat is called the heartwood. The lighter-colored wood that makes up most of the bat (and most bats in general) is called the sapwood. The heartwood is located closer to the center of the tree’s trunk and the sapwood on the outer section of the trunk. Though the sapwood is generally more desirable for wood bats because it tends to be a more consistent weight and hardness, bats that contain small sections of heartwood on the barrel are not actually considered to be lower-quality. They just have a bit of a different look. Hope this helps 👍🏻
From Australia. Baseball is not a popular sport like football and cricket. This guy hitting is so entertaining that i may have to follow your season. Great video, content, and presentation. 🇦🇺 😊👍
This video is literally everything I love about your channel. Great performance and knowledge plus informed decisions and advice. Doesn't get any better!
Love the bats and the work you put into letting us know what is worth spending money on. I have to mention that field at the beginning is AMAZING! I mean that is a nice Field! I would live at that field if they had apartments underneath! I like the sound of a good metal bat, but nothing can beat that KRACK of the wood on a good hit on a good wood bat......it is like listening to good music you like.
So crazy to see how far you've come, not just as a content creator but as a hitter. I remember when you were stoked to hit in the mid to upper 90s with BBCORs, and now you're hitting 105 with wood.
Thanks for this video. I enjoy all your content but the Wood bat content is my favorite. If you ever get a chance Try the B45 B61 model. It has a 1.03 handle with a 2.56 barrel. Seems like a perfect mix between a 110 and 243. Thanks for all that you do because there are so many wood bat companies and turn models. I hope you enjoyed making this video boss.
swung the JC24 all the way through highschool and JuCo ball. Glad to see it getting some love. Criminally underrated and couldnt recommend more! Great video!
Great video, sick to see how far the channel has come with the quality of videos being put out. Huge fan of the RAJ13 as well, was interested to see you count the Baum even though its BBCOR certified, makes sense though with it being legal in most casual leagues.
Great video! I'm so glad you purchased the bats anonymously! MLB gets the cream of the crop while everyone else gets the rest. Still good, but not quite as good. Anyway, I need to buy some Baseball Bat Bros. merch!
Love the content, next wood bat showdown or review should include homewood bat co. Rising company within the majors, having players like Bobby Witt Jr.
So Will where is your warehouse that you store all of these bats, somewhere between Bend and Redmond...... can it be seen from space, keep up the awesomeness in the Science of bats always great to watch and learn.
I think it would be a really sick idea if you would take the best sounding bats and just take a round of BP with just the sound of the bats. I feel like it would be a vary satisfying video.
Did you play any pro ball? Once bought a 34"" Mike Ivie Ash Louisville Slugger it wasn't the 125 Model but the cheaper 180 model I used it at the batting cage in Anaheim for years. Never stung the wood was great. The old Glomar Bat Co. in Fullerton, Ca. Re-stained it and used their logo. I found out the Louisville Slugger people put their logo on the wrong side!!! Anyway I still have that bat. I'm too old now but I would of loved to use that bat against the more juiced baseballs of today.
Will, how could you POSSIBLY forget to bring the bamboo savage bat from the cheap wood challenge!?! You said yourself that it was hot as hell. And it was like 35 bucks! I think it deserves a shot here 😂
When I was playing HS ball 18 years ago your average Louisville slugger was around $40-$60. I just checked because I haven’t priced bats since then and the classic ash LS bats are about the same.
Great video, extremely thorough testing, great insights all along. My question: Why not test a B45 birch bat ? They are the ones that made birch bats popular in MLB and they are swung by some pretty good players, like Elly de la Cruz and Kettel Marte, amongst others.
It would be interesting to see you compare your old American Batsmith and the new one. Was it actually a softer cut of wood, or was it that other companies have just started putting out better products. The Old Hick went from your favorite to bottom half in this vid.
we've swung em both in the cages and the OG TS28 indeed feels/sounds/hits better. That's what is tricky about wood though... it's from a tree. Production/quality assurance when it comes to replicating the same exact product over and over again isn't exactly easy.
That Baum is the clear winner from the first swings. Just nuclear. I totally felt the pain with the Acuna though…that would be the bat I’d want to swing.
The cool part is that when that table saw grabs that would and pulls your fingers into the blade, you'll no longer need to swing bats anymore. Bye, bye fingers
Love the wood bat content. Would be interesting to hear swingweight comparison to bbcor bats for matching up wood to metal gamer. Another good small bat company Walk Off Wood (WOW) bats.
The last wood bat I owned was a Steel Pressed MO28 (Matt Olson) from old hickory and it was an amazing bat to swing. I’d recommend checking out old hickory’s other models as the Trout model was always kind of meh to me compared to the others. You could also look at their Ronald Acuna model and see if there is any difference between it and the Louisville Slugger one.
I am just curious. I know you have the nickname of “BP GOD” but have MLB teams ever reach out to you for a tryout or anything. Like I said just curious. I have been watching your videos of years absolutely love them miss the slow pitch stuff as well but understand the market is much larger for baseball! Keep it up will and making the state of Oregon proud!
Hey Will, I’ve been looking around for a light swinging budget bat. There’s a missile 2 (or 3) available for $120 (new), is that something I should look into? Appreciate all that you do🤘
Glad to see chandler still has the best wood. I wish yall made this a year ago I bought an aj99 and I’ll agree the swing weight is a bit more awkward than my i13
Definitely got the wrong model DoveTail. Should've hit the OB1..way more Balanced. Kel started swinging them his 8th grade year, and loved them. other than the "Cutch", he lived by them. Now 17, just bought his 1st Camwood Pro Birch this year. Loves it too.
You should do another video with some of the biggest names in baseballs turn models. Bobby Witt, Aaron Judge, Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani, Bryce Harper, Mike Trout - get a group of 4 or 5 people to try the different models and talk about their pros and cons. Maybe even throw in a $40 Genuine mix just for a fun comparison 😂
Genuinely curious and trying to pick up baseball as my second sport behind basketball, why are all the videos at least that I’ve seen are centered around exit VLO? And why is it so important? Please let me know, again I’m learning
i have a question, i bought a "Vintage Rawlings BIG STICK WOOD Baseball Bat 32"/31 oz All Black 212B; USA baseball bat" and a "Louisville Slugger - Genuine - 3X Series - Ash Mixed Baseball Bat 32 inch 30 Oz" bat, both 32 inch on the ebay add, thing is the rawlings is closer 32 inch (805mm) and the slugger is almost 33 inch (835mm), why??? the decalls is 2 inch from the bottom on both bats, nothing cut off though? the description in the diverted commas is as per ebay listing, go and check if needed

What speed do you hit off of during batting practice and these videos?
I spent $90 for fireworks yesterday but it was worth it just like this video
I know they’re legal, but the fact that we’re still calling Baums “wood” bats is ridiculous. It’s a full composite with a skin of wood for show.
Theyre full of carbon fiber and almost literally cork lol
exactly
Not legal in MLB or their minor league teams.
Stop bitching. Its a good wood bat. Who cares if the wood is only the skin!? ITS A BAAAATTT
It still has the overall limitations of a wood bat though. Very small sweet spot... It just doesn't break when you hit it on the wrong spot.

I’ve been waiting awhile for another wood bat showdown!!! Thank you!!! 🙏
