I used to have so many samples of the boutique Guerlains, including all 3 orient ones. I remember enjoying all of them but since I try to keep my collection around 40-50 scents, I've never really tried to purchase full bottles of these, but I have to agree these are quality all the way. After quick check of my drawer, I've found out that I still have 2-3ml of Rose and Songe, along with some other rare samples - Habit Rouge Dress Code, Le Bouquet de la Mariee and Quand Vient La Pluie.
Great review. Rose is a note im very picky with because it reminds me of grandma. I got surprisingly interesting fragrance from gucci guilty line that has a balsamic vinegar and rose combo that is very unique and pleasant. Thanks marc.
This is only one out of the group that I am missing. Smelling this along with the other fragrances from this line makes sense of how you present. They are somewhat continuations of each other.
Sounds very good, if it wasn't discontinued I would definitely try it, I'll see if I find a decant, or if I find it at a good price I will get it, Rose Oud is one of my favorite combos, even if it is overdone I can't get enough of it, and as you said sometimes a small twist turns a recurrent fragrance into a masterpiece, at least for your nose. There's also that I don't want to get into Guerlan, Chanel, Givenchy or Dior exclusive lines because they have a LOT of fragrances and I don't want to open the Pandora's Box, I have enough in my list right now to add more anxiety to it... I think I sampled their 3 Ouds when they released about a decade ago(time flies). Almost pulled the trigger on songe bois but also liked Dior LO. Now that Guerlain changed the bottles & LO seems slightly reformulated, not sure which I would snag today.
i originally ranked these: 1)encens 2)songe 3)rose nacree now i rank them. 1)rose nacree 2)songe 3)encens. i use to have a problem with the drydown of rose nacree,i use to consider it a bit of a mess but now i find it nice, am ok with it. probably my favourite rose scent.
This is the one out of the collection that I'm missing, but it's also the one I'm least interested in. Unfortunately, I will overspend because I need to complete the collection at some point. Nothing can top Songe.

Les Déserts d'Orient trio all have very good performance

I like the Rose/Oud genre. I’ve tried all of MFK Oud collection. My favorite was Oud Silk Mood, but I prefer Dior’s Oud Ispahan
