- The other version got taken down, so I bought the beat on vinyl and made it into a 15 minute loop. Enjoy my favorite piece of music of all time
Keeping J Dilla's legacy alive, one beat at a time
RIP JAY DEE
This is what you play when you can see yourself winning through that window you’re looking out of.
When I play this I see myself from third person view slightly behind, but then I turn and it goes to overhead, look up and back to third person... the beat is there but I can't catch it.
Nice
facts bro..
crazy how this beat could literally repeat for infinity and it'd still bump.
To infinity

Hell nah
I left a comment on this video over a year ago saying how this was my go to song for doing school and life in general. I'm a month away from graduating highschool now. I know J Dilla's music way better now and I've learned so much since I left that original comment. This beat goes on forever. I'm finalizing so many things to graduate and close one chapter and start the next. I'm starting my career as an artist and J Dilla has become one of my main inspirations for living by my art. If you took the time to read this, thank you. Thank you J Dilla, I'll keep this one bumping forever, rest in power.
P.S. Don't Cry still makes my eyes water everytime I play it despite the hundreds of times I've heard it.
Deam man, sounds not only great you doing good in live, youre having great inspiration. I`m at the same Point, just seen 2 different comments about from a year and while looking back, so much happened till then. Where can i find your music?
Ayo, good on you for moving on your dreams. If you ever get discouraged remember you're in it for the marathon. Part of winning is failing so you can learn something. Best wishes
Peace
Hope graduation went well, my dude. Keep doing the damn thing.
Rock on
He really made magic, I remember being obsessed with this beat like 3 years ago to the point that I woke up with it and went to bed with it because it always made me feel good and calm physically and mentally. Coming back to this now after a long while not listening to it and it makes me feel the same good way it always made me feel, this just proves that Dilla made timeless magic, the beats are filled with soul and substance not just baps and noises being chopped up, it has meaning and that is something like life, it makes us feel the whole mystery of it without really knowing exactly what it is but it makes us feel good and happy.
Mate, write a book 📖 and I’ll buy it!

It's weird. I played this any time I had to study in school and now I play it any time I need to focus on something to keep me motivated. But I also play it when I'm relaxing and chilling out. Works perfectly both ways. This track is just versatile like that. Dilla was such a master of the craft.
A rapper that goes by the name of “Lute” and is signed to j coles dreamville label used this song for a beat on his song called “still slumming” which is the first time I had ever heard this beat this just tells me how great j dilla really was and how relevant he still is.

This was just so encouraging
Lord knows how much this man's work can touch my spirit.
Some tracks are music in its perfect representation of the craft, sonics and genre. I want to thank a man you all may know as DJ Mad Lynx, one of the final rap city host. That man introduced me to this type of hiphop in the mid 90's in Tampa. He came on the air at 11pm-3am Saturday Nights, WMNF 88.5, the show was called the Underground Railroad. At some point this became the theme/bumper music on the show. Great fuquin memories and times with my dual cassette player trying to make a mixtape for the week. Back to DIlla, his work transcended what everyone else did with the craft, it is insane how great this sounds and all of the different thoughts its invoking!
whatever you're struggle my be, it won't kill you. if anything that hurt and pain will just make you stronger.
bro been freestyling for the whole time! this shit smooth
Has any one even noticed what’s going on in the background? Not all, but pretty much a good amount of James’ beats will have some unique sounds playing in the background. Once you sit N listen for quite some time you’ll begin to not even hear what’s obviously playing that keeps us all so in love with this beat & notice something new! Then I’ll be like “WHuuuTt”? Open my eyes & put my ears a little closer to the speaker or (turn up the volume) & it ain’t there no more? Which I know it is I’ve just realized that once I took my focus off it, it was practically back to sitting down for another 15-30 min to try and catch those sounds again lol
Yeah, there's a water droplet riser sound and tape hiss that adds to the beat.

If Lute came up when you heard the beat you are the elite…
The sample is really timeless. This is technically a hip-hop beat but without words its more than that, the beat kind of transcends genres.
Such a beautiful note. Got me longing for a time I didn't know I even experienced.
So well put. I’m constantly trying to put words and meaning to his music and I think you hit it. It’s like something I’ve experienced before but have no conscious thought of it. It just fits
What’s crazy about this is the sample selection. The high hat, kick, snare, melody samples were all picked meticulously
