I love 24's voice, I was so bummed when he died. Obviously in hindsight it was the best thing to ever happen to the show because it made 21 into a total badass, but i still miss his weird phlegm-y slurred voice every now and then

I just realized that even though 21 and 24 are in the 20's for their ranks (Which is still quite high) they are basically the monarch's number 2's even if their number/rank doesn't say as such. So the Monarch did kinda keep his promise to 24.
3:36 - I just now noticed the henchmen wheeling away the giant Monarch Penny. The same Penny that ends up in Captain Sunshine's Lair, in two seasons. Well I'lll be damned.
I still think it was 24’s Ghost. And he was able to both bring other ghosts for Gary to see and or make fake ones to make Gary not feel so crazy, and once He learned Mr. Wendell wasn’t dead, 24’s ghost left to let Gary finally move on. He probably hangs around silent just to see how he turned out.

I think Monarch also played a massive role in that too. Like everybody knows 21 was great because of his arch but the Monarch was consistently one of the funniest characters throughout and ACTUALLY convinced you he was a real threat sometimes

For reference, here are just some of the characters Chris/Jackson voices: Hank Venture The Monarch Henchman 24 Sergeant Hatred Colonel Hunter Gathers Dr. Henry Killinger Monstroso The Action Man Henchman 1 Augustus St. Cloud Dr. Z Pete White Pirate Captain Tim-Tom Among MANY others.
You know what scene they missed? After somehow managing to catch Brock Samson while getting wasted, the Henchmen are all super hungover, their reactions to Monarch's shrill angry voice are hilarious.
Or only eating eggs, seeds, milk, etc. You could extrapolate that everything also gets a soul after some time alive, so grains, beans, eggs, are alright. And I guess things like milk or honey wouldn't have souls to begin with. You could survive like that. You could also probably eat what's called "microgreens", aka recently sprouted vegetables. Now that I think about it, bacteria probably have souls too. So nevermind.
When 21 cried at prom I cried a little. I really wanted to believe that was the real him. It gave 21 comfort, but there's some things you really do have to let go and accept.

I think that it was an intentional 'slackin' . . . you see reality with the charred skull. This is what the Monarch sees. But when the POV of the...well, guess we would call it "status" or "situation" of 24 from 21's point of view, he's "back." In other words? It wasn't an animation error. It was reality and then ghost again, because we changed from Monarch's view back to 21's view, and 21's view is the ghost sitting there, not a skull.
Rewatching the earlier episodes of Venture Bros really made me miss 24 in the later seasons. 21 and 24 were such a perfect duo of geeks who happened to be henchmen. Some of his lines were really funny to me like "I can't believe how hard it is to kill these two" when Dean was trying to put out the fire on Hank's crotch and "okay Now I believe you're Hank's friend" after hearing that Dermott had a lighter up his ass 🤣🤣🤣🤣 But I do think he had to die so that we could get 2 Ton 21 and let Gary grow into one of the most competent characters in the series. He's a character I'd still have wanted around but I can accept his death and appreciate what it lead to in the later seasons.
Can I just say I love how Hank and Dean walk out of the bathroom looking like they're the missing links. Also it was a great tragedy and gyp that Henchman 24 was killed off. RIP, Jerry Seinfeld/Raymond Romano parody.

SPOILERS: Been watching The Venture Brothers lately (Despite it being canceled) And I Saw the season 3 finale A few days ago , And was sad when 24 Died , Since I thought 21 & 24 were the greatest duo ever
And an incredible but quickly foreshadowing is when 21, 24 and the Monarch "torture" H.E.L.P.E.R, when 24 hits H.E.L.P.E.R with the metal tube it sends his head flying, the same way in episode 24 his head goes flying through the explosion. The creators leave that clue before the disaster.

After the "ghost" season he was only seen in a short while, like once or twice, in seasons 6 and 7, if I'm not wrong. They couldn't get away with doing that sort of thing if they didn't off him because he was Gary's best friend

It was a mistske to kill off 24 and then ease him out of the the Venture universe. His deadpan quips and dialogues with 21 were hilarious.
It also resulted in one of the greatest character advancements in the series
He was only killed off because the voice actor really hated doing the voice.
