Great review Ollie :) I really like School Reunion, this is a great story. The emotional story with The Doctor, Sarah Jane and Rose is great and there is some great emotion scenes (though Rose can be a bit bitch to Sarah Jane and Mickey). Mickey is brilliant and I love K9. I'm glad this story not only connects to the classic series but also acknowledges K9 & Company: A Girl's Best Friend and The Five Doctors. The Krillitanes are also a great monster with Anthony Head giving a masterfully brilliant performance as Brother Laseter/Mr Finch. 9/10, brilliant story and the episode that would launch The Sarah Jane Adventures spin-off series a year later due to Elisabeth Sladen's popularity with younger viewers (as well as older viewers too).
@@MrTardis11 yeah I don’t like Rose anymore after her last story. She really got on my nerves and I just thought she was being a spoilt brat. She’s such an overrated companion in my opinion.
Awesome review Ollie and marvellous Mickey impression. School Reunion is such a classic and my 2nd favourite story of Series 2 I love it that much. Elizabeth Sladen' s return as Sarah Jane Smith is lovely and I think she gives her best performance in the revived Series and I'm overjoyed she returned for the Series 4 finale and got her own spin off show. K9 makes a heartwarming return too, so this story is utterly charming and will please all the classic Who fans. The Doctor telling Rose he can't spend the rest of his life with her is a iconic hint at Rose's departure and I love how this story dealing with the mature themes of how The companions can't stay with The Doctor forever. Rose and Sarah's rivalry I think works of course Rose is gonna feel jealous and replaced at first but at least they both become friends at the end after they talk about all the monsters they've encountered. I wouldn't say Rose is bitchy as you can understand her frustration when she's forced to be stuck as a dinner lady against her will. I'm glad Mickey finally gets to join the Tardis crew and him driving the car into the school is the beginning of his heroic transformation. The Krilitane are just awesome and Anthony Head was born to play a Who villain. The school is also a different setting for the show, and the ending with K9's sacrifice and Sarah hugging The Doctor never ceases to bring a tear to my eye. I'd give School Reunion 5 stars out of 5!
Thanks Harry :) glad you like my impression of Mickey :) lol Its so nice to see Sarah-Jane come back and yes her return in Series 4 is also welcome :) I love those interactions with The Doctor and Rose too. Mickey's story arc really comes to a head in Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel. K-9 is so cute and his return is wonderful and as you say his sacrifice is powerful. This episode just has a great story but is also so nostalgic in its own right. David Tennant continues to be an amazing Doctor for me. See you soon for The Girl in the Fireplace.
I really enjoy this story and it’s my personal favourite of this season. It’s such so much fun and that’s what I love about it. David Tenant is great as the Doctor here, I like the fact that he’s undercover as a school teacher in this episode. Rose is decent here, I like how she’s a dinner lady but I don’t like how jealous she gets about Sarah Jane and their constant arguing. I thought Rose was a bit unlikeable and selfish here and this is where I start to dislike her character, not completely yet but definitely by the end of this season. It’s great to have the return of Sarah Jane here and she’s great as always and I love her chemistry with David Tenant. I also really like Mickey here, he’s quite funny . It’s also great to see K-9 again, he’s as cute as ever. The villains I think are great here. Anthony Head just steals the story for me as Mr Finch the Headmaster, he’s got such a great evil presence and he’s very creepy and manipulative. His chemistry with Tenant is great and one of my favourite scenes in this story is when he’s confronting the Doctor by the school pool. The Krilotane themselves are great as well, maybe the cgi is a bit dated now but that doesn’t bother me too much, they’re very scary monsters now they can shapeshift and also fly. The guy who’s lesson the children are being mindcontrolled In is very creepy and especially when he does that weird movement with his neck. I love the finale of this story as well and it’s very sad when K-9 is killed but thankfully another one appears at the end. The sets and costumes are great here, I love the setting of this secondary school. The music is also brilliant. The pacing is good as well, it just flies by. Overall a really good story. Also the idea of brainwashing children by pouring oil on school chips is very interesting.
Its a good choice for your favourite of the Series. :) Its definitely up there and probably one of the best David Tennant stories overall :) Thanks for your thoughts see you soon for The Girl in the Fireplace.
I love some of Finches lines here “Were having an early lunch” is my favourite one and the way he smiles when he delivers it is great.
Yes that was a creepy line for the opening
@@MrTardis11 glad we agree. Yeah he says it again before he eats the other teachers as well.
Anthony Head who plays Mr Finch also played the Priminister in Little Britain and he was very funny in that.
He is fantastic. Did you know Anthony Head narrated some Doctor Who confidential as well? Back when that was around.
@@MrTardis11 no I didn’t but thanks for telling me. He is a great actor and I really like his voice.

Thanks Nick :) What stops it from getting perfect marks out of 10 just out of curiosity? :) Is it cause of Rose's bitchiness to Sarah-Jane and Mickey?
@@MrTardis11 Yeah that and maybe something else I can't completely remember, but I know it's a 9 for me.
@@NicholasPayne01 hmm fair enough maybe Rose just has issues with people with the surname of “Smith” despite being Mickey’s ex girlfriend LOL 😂

Another nice review mate! Keep up the good work! Such a shame we’ve lost Liz Sladen. RIP
Thank you :) Yes RIP Elizabeth Sladen
