Good timing! My headlamp just died and shopping for an upgrade right now. Also, been binge watching ultra running vids and just found your channel. Thanks for sharing all that you do!
Awesome! This is a great headlamp! Definitely check out my Leadville video if you haven't already th-cam.com/video/Upl_iPk2e-o/w-d-xo.htmlsi=q_icRSjaY1sdkANK
I've used the R-T for over a year. A great headlamp with a few words of caution. First, the curved hard plastic that the band is attached to at the front of your head digs in and can get quite uncomfortable during long use unless I wear the proper buff. I have a thick-ish wool buff (quadrupled folded) that provides enough padding, but polyester buffs and thin running beanies don't work for me. Second, when you change batteries, you need to make sure to tighten the cap all the way, as well as check to see if the spring is not too compressed from use (need too stretch out the spring occasionally.) One time, the light seemed to be working, and then all of a sudden went out. It took me a while in the dark to figure out that the cap needed tightening. Third, (and this hasn't happened every time), I charged the battery overnight while still in the headlamp. The next morning, I turn it on when I start in the dark, and notice one bar, and say WTF! Luckily I had a spare charged battery. Not sure what happened. Anyway, it has served me well. The new one sounds really interesting with the warm spot. See you at NB100!
Had the same problem with light blinking and batteries not charging and/or displayd incorrectly. Tightening the cap and extending the spring worked sometimes, but then I put a piece of aluminium foil between the spring coils so that it also touches the end cap. Light has now worked 2 years without blinking or charge issues. Was already out of warranty when I bought it second hand.

I put my hm65r-t on by bicycle helmet only to have a reason to buy the hm65r-dt Nebula! Its beautiful. I love the warm white, its better then ww on Olight Baton3ProMax, wich is too warm, like the old industrial bulbs.
@@tomaskroupakkfoto4132 no, i used 2 or 3 zipties. the problem was that i had to cut the plastic 'arms' of the flashlight to remove the band. meanwhile i reatached the band, put the arms together and use a LedLenser HF4R Work, it came with a helmet mounting bracket (with3M adhesive). On my other helmet i use a NitecoreNU25, also ziptied.
I have owned two of the Fenix HM65R Head lights and there great for a while. But the switch got bad on both of them. I have to call FENIX and if they will fix it.
Thanks very much for this! I'm a bit confused, do you think it's worth the extra to get the R-DT over the R-T for the warm colours? I run along a river a lot which can get foggy/misty.
Really appreciate the quick response! I've got my first 100 mile race in 2024 and your review has helped helped narrow down which head torch I'll be going for. If you were choosing between the HM65R-DT & the HM65R-T which would be your pick? I know it boils down to personal preference, but curious of your POV since you've logged hours with them and have more experience on the trails.

Did they replace them under warranty?
no not yet this is the second one that the switch went bad@@UltraTrailSteven
How long can you run the battery on the medium setting say for the more technical trails? Thanks!
white/cool medium is 400 lumens, and run time is stated as 12 hours.

Well I haven’t been able to test the warm light in foggy conditions yet, but I could see how it would be helpful.
@@UltraTrailSteven Thanks for your response 👍
Were you glad to have this over the HL32R-T or do you think the HL32R-T would have been fine for Leadville as well?
Definitely glad to have this over the HL32R-T. The battery life is so much better on the HM65R-DT

I would pick the HM65R-DT. I like the dual lights and option to switch between warm and cool lighting depending on the conditions.
Love that hat bro, where’d you get it?
Thanks! I designed and sold them. They sold out quick! It’s a BOCO hat. More are on the way and will be listed soon I hope!
Did I miss the HL32R-T review?
No you didn't. Haven't gotten around to it yet. It is a great light though!
I can’t imagine how big your shoe closet is… never mind your accessory closet 😂
Haha I have lots of shoes and accessories all over the place! Need to organize some of the accessories a bit.
30% lighter than aluminum, must be made of magnesium, nice
That’s what Fenix claims.
Stop saying the model name its so annoying and youtube ignores it.
