Never liked the opening lines. It was to establish her addiction and her connection to Luke, but it seemed a little bit too dramatic. He never refused her coffee, ever. It's just a bit they are endeared to. Glad they used the WB lot after the pilot. Better diner. More room. But the neon Open sign was cool.
This is how you open a tv show. It's not hard to see why the show is still popular after 25 years - which just doesn't happen with television, unless it's animated. Young Gen Zers should not know that this show exists, as it was over before they were born. But they do. It was one of the most 10-watched tv shows across major streaming platforms in 2023. It breaks my late Gen X brain.
For some reason I remember the opening scene as Loralai walking in with Luke nowhere in sight so she goes behind the counter to get the coffee pot and while pouring for herself Luke comes down catching, and starts yelling at her.

I read somewhere.. That the pilot was shot somewhere in canada, the rest of the show was shot in WB studios in L.A.

The pilot episode was shot in the Toronto suburb of Unionville. The rest of the series was filmed at the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, California.
