  • If you've taken business class or familiar with management consulting strategies, you've probably come across this tool called a BCG Matrix. Also known as a growth-share matrix, the BCG matrix was created by Bruce Hendersen in the 70s (founder of Boston Consulting Group). It's a tool that helps you analyze companies or products based on a quadrant that shows growth rate and relative market share. You can actually create this fairly easily on Excel, so check out the video to learn how.

    Pfffffff... so adding the labels to each bubble is manual? Seriously?
    That's no problem when you have only 4 bubbles. I came to this video for a way to add labels to a chart with over 90 values.
    I really appreciate your tips, but I can't believe MS doesn't have a way to add labels directly to a bubble chart. Un-be-lie-va-ble

    • @DougHExcel
      @DougHExcel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      in Excel 2013, MSFT finally let you do it. Right click Add Data Labels and find the option to choose Values from Cells. Then select your descriptions from a range that is associated with the series.

    • @LuisFernandoFranco
      @LuisFernandoFranco 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be awesome... I'm using Excel 2016, I just don't find that option.
      Let me see if I understand, I click on "Add Data Labels", and it gives me what is in the Y axis as label.
      But then I don't find where can I tell Excel where to get the labels from

    • @LuisFernandoFranco
      @LuisFernandoFranco 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You won't believe this. This. is. not. available. in. Excel 2016. Damn you Microsoft.
      In this article: peltiertech.com/apply-custom-data-labels-to-charted-points/ they explain what you said, but if I go to my Excel I see:
      * Series Name
      * X Value
      * Y Value
      * Show Leader Lines
      * Legend Key
      The "Value From Cells" is not an option in Excel 2016

    • @LuisFernandoFranco
      @LuisFernandoFranco 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      OK, it is now. I swear the option wasn't avilable, in fact I was copying the screen to send a report to the tech-support guys, but since I had deleted the chart, I recreated it with the total confidence it wasn't going to work, and then it appeared.
