Heavenly music as a solace for our troubled times.
I would like to dedicate this video to the innocent victims of the terror attacks.
In 1977 when the Voyager spacecraft was about to be launched, prominent scientists were asked to what would be the most appropriate to send into outer space as a manifesto of human civilization.
The eminent biologist Dr. Lewis Thomas answered, “I would send the complete works of Johann Sebastian Bach.”

I'm 80 years old. The only thing on my bucket list is to see a Valentina live concert and just to say hello to her afterwards!

I had the opportunity to see her in person in Brazil in 2009 and she was very lovely and accessible when I approached her to take a pic with me! Hopefully you will get your dream come true! What else can you say about Bach? There are no words to explain his music. He's the creator of the music. Best composer ever.
This music makes me feel I'm in angelic realm...so refined, heavenly and soothing at the same time...I'm so thankful that God created Bach and I'm able to hear this by Valentina in this time...
This music is so soothing. It takes you to another realm. Valentina is superb. My aunt, who taught piano to her students (me included) loved Bach. Her favorite virtuoso.
I've heard this piece all my life, but only now have I REALLY heard it. A river of sonority; a sublime and seamless flow of harmonies and intervals. Bach would be thrilled.

Im now 45 and never appreciated classical music till the last 10 years of my life ! I will say at junior school our headmaster would play a piece of classical music every day in morning assembly from Bach, Beethoven to Chopin etc ...... Truthfully and thankfully i cannot get enough of it now.....So beautiful and meaningful ! I race cars and play classical music to help me with rhythm, focus and compose myself ! And love& listen to it with the most appreciation and pleasure in my spare time now too x
Very beautiful. Bach is one of those composers that gives us hope that there is peace, reconciliation and love in an eternal hereafter.

Absolutely stunning arrangement by Siloti, who studied under Franz Liszt, and a very masterful interpretation by Lisitsa - I believe Siloti would've loved it.

That stirring of my musical soul has never happened to me, and I think it's mainly because your interpretations and performance gives me a new and fresh insight into

so tragically paid the ultimate price for being on the wrong road at the wrong time.....

This piece, not sure why, gets me every time I hear it. It truly hurts my heart and I long to understand the feeling I get when it plays. Whatever that feeling was or moment the memory is attached to, I wish I knew. From the first moment I ever heard it, I was much younger, I stopped and cried. It still gets me to this day.

This is a beautiful song without Valentina, but when she adds her own touch to it, it becomes even more beautiful. But it reminds us of the bad things happening around us and we should always keep a smile on our face even if its the only sunshine there is. I believe that the bad times will be over, and music like this, played like this, felt like this, will bring light to our world. Valentina, I know you are used to compliments, but you are one of the best things ever happened to music. Really mean that, wish I could play like you do, instead am over 50 and only just started playing piano, and can't read music. One day! I adore you!

I've never seen this one before. I have to admit, at first when it started, I was expecting it to be rushed for some reason. It was not. And, perhaps because sometimes I am too much the pessimist, I kept waiting for ever the little tell-tale, here and there, for it to NOT be in keeping with the carriage of this piece. No doubt this is in large part because of my (mine & others) preconceptions of her elaborate 'speed' abilities. But, it never occurred. She maintained perfectly throughout its entirety. I don't guess I should have been surprised, though. If anyone is going to understand a piece, it's going to be her. I've got to give this one a very big "thumbs up"!
Rarely played, yet so appropriate, and of course played in the perfect temperament for the purpose. And Bach, the solemn one himself, would have likely adored this approach.
