Thanks. Good video. Your English is very clear and and nicely paced. Well done getting your ZX81 running through composite!

Thanks for the video. I need to pick this up from my parents house. I miss the old thing and would like to use it again. My very first hack was adding a power switch.

Thank you for this video ! I was searching for some easy to follow tutorial since I don't know much about applied electronics. All I found were some websites or videos with too vague informations for my skills, thus I've put my project asside for a while (apparently juste before you put your video online :D ) .
This video is really what I needed ! Easy to follow, with all the informations I needed and good video quality to really see what you are doing.
Thanks a lot and greetings from Belgium !

Nice work and thanks for making your videos accessible to non Norwegian speakers. :)

Thanks the video. When I put the transistor and a 100 ohm resistor, I got a very clear white screen withou the "K" ready-cursor. But if I desoldered this solution and put just a short wire between the video output signal and the connector, I got a clear output with sharp "K" symbol. I think, the XZ81 generates a composite output signal, which is strong enough. Thanks again for your video.

Thanks. Yes it may vary also from machine to machine.

Thanks for English, but your videos were actually understandable enough just from what you were doing. Is this the same unit you got with the stickers and the Memotech expansion unit? (Looks like it.) I wondered if it was an NTSC version.
(The ZX-81 was my first personal computer. I went so far as to put one in a Bud metal case with a TI-994A keyboard I got at Radio Shack for $5.00 US. It was actually a lot more usable that way.)
That wire that went to the RCA jack should have probably been tinned with solder before assembly, but it seems to have taken solder well enough. Bring the leg of that resistor back through the "extra" hole and solder to the inside of the case of the modulator. The lid will fit back on the modulator more easily that way.
"Where is the dollar sign?", brought a smile to my face. A great book on the ZX-81 is "The Explorer's Guide to the ZX-81 and Timex Sinclair 1000"

Thank you, will give this a go. I have purchased a few on eBay and all work but not a fan of the crawlies on the screen so this should do the trick.

Thanks for the video, it was very interesting. I think you need to get a smaller pair of wire cutters!

Has anyone done this to a US ZX81? It has a different motherboard and rf modulator. The RF jack is even on the opposite side of the modulator, (all the way at the back of left side).
