@@TechnicalsMatt table at the end make complete sense.. If this was a year ago maybe it would be a bit different. But the way I see it we are in the end days of kaspa mining and right now its a race. And hash power is everything. And let's be honest here. If I were to buy a second ultra I'd be modding that one also for a combined 1.2 Terahash plus worth of power r. These overclocks are welcomed if you ask me. And their help is .
I think what should be considered is the price of the new power supply and fans and heatsink and paste. All of that adds up and if we are buying that PSU ROI is going to take longer., but yes in the long run it will pay off
per the table, even with the mods, it would roi quicker than a stock unit. still waiting for someone to show me how the math is wrong (honestly, not trying to be combative because I can't believe it myself)
@@TechnicalsMatt No worries. I only see the cost prices in your table as $349 on both whereas the OC version should technically be $349 for the miner, $125 for the PSU, $16 for the shroud, but lets assume they are printing it so a few pennies, $23 for the fan, $8.99 for the paste, and heatsink $6.99. That should be close to $513. Technically there are cheaper PSUs, cheaper fans, and cheaper pastes, but I would think the OC Version should be on your chart around 475 at a mininum. Not trying to be combative and I don't think these were included when I watched it. Really nice video though and I do think ROI will happen quicker, but you'd have to buy the cheaper stuff for that in my opinion otherwise it's around the same time, but will end up getting more profits in the long run. I'm hoping we see increased profits next month once they try again with the KRC20.
Buying all of this stuff and your fan shroud. Glad you made them so I can support you! Keep it up! Also, did you consider any of the $50-$60 330W chargers? Curious if they would work well or be a fire hazard…
With PSU's i tend to not F around TOO MUCH esp considering how hot the 220w psu got with the pro. If you can find one and the plug matches, i'd be interested to know how it works out. Also yesmining mentioned they're putting a psu on their site that can be used but i haven't seen it yet. Thank you!
Thought of that later (was in a rush with this one). Even if the mods are an extra $150 add 4mo to the timeframe, still (barely) beating out a stock machine, but only just.
Great video. Curious. What in the heat on the outer shell running? What is internal fans at? I found base extremely hot. Almost fire range. I run mine w 0 internal fans. Some fans behind. Outer shell runs 109F. I get near 390 yo 400Gh
Camera, but I still think videos look like shit when I record this way via OBS. I did it because it's faster, but i'm limited to 720p because of bandwidth, but my editor outputs at 4k so i get grainy
Yes the purpose of this video is to show they can overclock KS0 ultra and that's it. The price of the new PSU is more than half of the price of the miner, and then you need to pay for the firmware. Voiding the warranty, losing feature of the machine(can't reset LOL) and lessen the efficiency? Just buy another KS0 ultra. Why spend more increasing the risk and losing everything? Maybe if they did was stable 400GH @ 60w or lesser without tearing it down, I might consider using their firmware.
I did the math in the end of the vid and a supplemental showing that it makes more sense to overclock than just buy another ultra. Kaspa isn't about efficiency due to it's emission schedule.
@@TechnicalsMatt @TechnicalsMatt But you did not include the price of the firmware and the PSU, and copper heatsink on your computation. So lets say that 239$(price of miner on iceriver) + 140$(new PSU) + firmware + 10$(copper heatsink) then check again how long you will get the ROI. On iceriver website the price of ultra is 239$ + stock PSU is 20$ = 259$ @ 400gh if you want to do the OC 239$ + 140$(330w PSU) + 10$(copper heatsink) + 36$ firmware(618,676,700) = 425$ @ 600-680gh Let's say I bought 3 running @ stock = 1200gh @ 777$ @ 300w Compare it at 2 miner + OC = 1200gh/1360gh @850$ @ 400w At this moment I'll use your computation on the video, stock will give you 37.2$/month and 54.4$/month @ OC and it will be lesser every month because of the reduction on the emission schedule.
