i've owned and sold/not loved 5 pauls. my new '50s standard is outstanding... quality and resonance of the guitar body far exceeds what i've had before. expensive but i feel like it is worth it. great review!

The Gibson Les Paul Standard is my favourite solid body electric guitar, as I love the high pitched cries that it makes when playing aggressive solos. I also love how it can go from playing aggressively in heavy metal to gently in ballads. Some of the tracks that the Gibson Les Paul Standard appears in include the following:
    'Sexy Sadie' by The Beatles
    'Yer Blues' by The Beatles
'Back in the U.S.S.R.' by The Beatles
'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' by The Beatles
    'Birthday' by The Beatles
'Martha My Dear' by The Beatles
    'Savoy Truffle' by The Beatles
'I Want You (She's So Heavy)' by The Beatles
-'Let It Be' by The Beatles- (it's ironic, because the lead guitar solo in the album mix of 'Let It Be' is actually one of the guitar solos that caused me to fall in love with the Gibson Les Paul Standard in the first place, only to find that it was apparently done on an Epiphone Casino, not a Gibson Les Paul Standard)
    'Something' by The Beatles
    'Come Together' by The Beatles
    'Polythene Pam' by The Beatles
'She Came in through the Bathroom Window' by The Beatles
-'I Me Mine' by The Beatles- (it's ironic, because this is actually one of the guitar solos that caused me to fall in love with the Gibson Les Paul Standard in the first place, only to find that it was apparently done on an Epiphone Casino, not a Gibson Les Paul Standard)
    'Immigrant Song' by Led Zeppelin
'Oh My Love' by John Lennon

    The greatest guitar ever built.
    FOR ME AND MY TASTE.
The whole thing is subjective to a degree, for the reason I love them, others may dislike them, but I was thinking about this recently, If I couldnt play a single note I would still think a classic Gibson was a beautiful thing. The carve, the wood, the lines.. they got it right back in the 50's.

It’s funny that for most people… Guitars made between 1950-1968 were the Ideal Guitars! The advent of the Solid body Electric and the two main companies that manufactured them. They just made them right! Necks were thicker at the beginning of 1950 because Fender didn’t use Truss Rods right away (Gibson Invention), because necks were thicker most had a slight V Shape to them, then once Truss Rods were added to all guitars the necks ditched the V Shape for D and C Shapes, and once they were more confident with Truss Rods they started slimming the necks. I find the differences from 50-60 so fascinating! Fender made changes because of Gibson, Gibson made changes because of Fender and everyone benefited! Those changes between 1950-1968 have had the biggest and most lasting impact on guitar manufacturing! I love being an old Fuddy Duddy! Cheers -Ryan

@@Crypticmaskguitar I personally love chunky necks. I have kind of grown into that, ie changed. 10 years back when I was a newer player I liked the slimmer profile. I guess it is good to try as much different options as possible and let preferences change with time snd experience. When I found the 50's Les Paul profile I feel like I found my "heaven".
Great video, thank you very much for what you are doing!

Look for a good used 2017-2019 Traditional T. It’s literally the same guitar other than the truss rod cover says traditional instead of standard. Solid body, same neck , bb1-2, nickel hardware , abr type bridge, and I think 2017 and 2018 had the cryogenic treated frets if that is your thing.
