I worked for Mobil Research & Development Corporation (MRDC) in Princeton and Paulsboro NJ... you can safely push Mobil 1 to 10,000 miles absolutely no sweat. My own 2005 CR-V, my Mom's 2004 CR-V, and my brother's 2012 Toyota Highlander all run great with Mobil 1. Changing Mobil 1 at 3,000 miles is way over-kill. 5,000 miles is just getting settled in. It's the oil at the filter outlet that's important the crankcase drain is dirty because the oil flushes all the crud out of the wear surfaces. Buy the best oil filter you can afford... FRAM filters are not the best IMHO in Australia (quite extreme service conditions) we use Honda OEM or Ryco filters they are the best. I've seen test engines run hundreds of thousands of miles (well over one million) on Mobil 1. Accept no substitutes.
SOS for Honda Crv 2002-2006 use 5w20 (0w20 Europe) if u have 100.000 and under. If you have 100.000 up use 5w30 ( I searched every manual) i want to help for crv lovers. (Honda oil-Liquid Moly- Mobile 1- Valvoline- Elf-Total BEST BRANDS) reliable sources. And for coolant fluid use only Honda Genuine COOLANT (Type-2) OR blue coolants (Mannol, Zerex, Peak, Valvoline, Prestone)
The1997 CR-V also has a well-hidden oil filter that's really hard to get to - not to mention the numerous hard times I had to go through when removing the slippery Honda filter. That said, my 2008 CR-V is such a pleasure to work on - that includes the completely exposed oil filter positioned right next to the drain plug! Anyway, thanks for the upload!
The blue stuff is not loctite it is a marker walmart uses to show they did the last oil change in case a customer messes with it then tries to claim fault on walmart
Thanks for doing the video. I just acquired a 2006 CRV 2WD and am doing fluids. I also found a Fram filter after looking everywhere for it. You show from the top but sketchy from the bottom. After finally seeing it, used a plate wrench to take it off. Will only use Honda filters from now on.
ATG & MRDC said you can change oil at 10K if using full synthetic oil with high graded oil filter. ATG & Costco has Kirkland that is just as good as Mobil 1. ATG & I used it on our sport cars, power boats & planes. We only replaced the oil filter. 20k no problem.
yeah.i did not pour everything into this vid that i could have. i will be doing a revised oil change vid for beginners. this is needed as anyone can do this service and save $ over the long run.
Hey my friend, i have a CR-V 2005 manual transmission. i was wondering what kind of tool did you use to loose the filter?? you change it you said every 5000 miles?? its takes close to 4 1/2 quarts of oil right?? Thank you bro for the video, nice done
I used an inexpensive adjustable oil filter wrench. It uses an adjustable rubber belt to grip the filter. Yes, this CRV take about 4.5qts. Good luck on future projects!
@mailman7478 Only issue i had with Fram is that the rubber ring seal breaks loose and sticks to the block even if you coat it with oil before installing it. Make for a bad mess if you don't notice it.
If you love your engine, but you want it to love you back, forget about shops and dealers and manuels recommending 8-10,000 mile oil changes!! Oil is cheap love!
@mharon79 not that it was "forgotten", just that this seal stuck to the block....came off this cheap oil filter a tad too easily. That is one mistake i will never overlook again. Gave me a shit my pantz kinda scare for a moment.
TOO much camera movement. did now show WHERE the motor oil cap is and where the check stick is ( for the novice) . The other guy burps.. how disgusting.
DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS ADVISE BECAUSE YOU WILL REGRET IT!!! When its hot itll be above that, and since your clearly overfilling it you will loose around 25% of your Catalytic Converters lifespan possibly even more depending on the climate that its driven in. Fact, it clearly states that under your hood!
Just for anyone's reference, I've found it's easier to remove and replace the oil filter from the top on these engines.
How? It looks so tight from the top?
Hi Andy, it’s certainly doable; I stand by the passenger side fender and reach my left hand down to grab it.

" thats what she said guy" needs to get slapped.
I agree. Once or twice is okay but it just gets annoying after that.

17 inch socket! You better have one hell of a breaker bar for that.
17mm

You missed a that's "what she said"moment when you lubed the filter 😂
All kinds of bad jokes then when it’s finally funny he was asleep at the wheel smh
The only sucky part about this whole video is the constant dumb remarks from camera man lol
Naw man, you have a mechanic video, you gotta have some mechanic talk in there. He was funny, I thought. But to each his own.
I felt the same like is the cámara guy 17 years old just going through puberty 😂 otherwise video was great
do you mean 17 mm ? (rather than 17 ")
Rocket Rider Yes....noted and thank you.

"It wasn't on there very tight. That's what she said."
Really?
lol
Obviously she says that one a lot😂
Gooooooooood!!!!!! Only 5w-20 oil. In Russia we a using 0w-20 in winter. Becouse temperature is -40 Celsius.
yeah.i did not pour everything into this vid that i could have. i will be doing a revised oil change vid for beginners. this is needed as anyone can do this service and save $ over the long run.
What type of the engine is that

No....ive put over 150000 miles on this myself and desperately need to change the struts. They are horrible right now.
What are common signs that the struts on the CRV are bad or going bad , I’d like to know I have a 2005 model? Thanks
How do you check the trans fluid? Does it have a dipstick?
Dip stick is right under the battery ...really hard to see
+solracz113 ok thanks
@@solracz113 And very easy to drop trying to put it back in. Ask me how I know...
big2000dave, have you changed your struts yet? How many miles do you have before changing?
That Honda filter is a Fram painted blue don't believe it cut both of them open. They make them for Honda low bidder gets the job.
Fram makes honda filters. be careful and always check to see if you have the rubber seal
Came for the oil change, stayed for the thats what she said jokes.
May i ask what type of radiator fluid you reccomend or used?
+soljafurkan Honda Genuine
As long as it's a Phosphated HOAT coolant, then you are good to go.
I always check if the rubber ring comes off the oil filter. Its a no brainer.
Was that a burp or fart @ 6.22 , just curious?
I used an inexpensive adjustable oil filter wrench. It uses an adjustable rubber belt to grip the filter. Yes, this CRV take about 4.5qts. Good luck on future projects!
Thanks for the video Dave, question for you, can I use 5w-30 in this car if it has about 80k? Thanks
pls can anybody tell me how much engine oil take honda crv 2.2 diesel ,year 2005, manual ,thnx
nice video. thank you very much,i thought 4.4 quarts how much
17 mm, millimeters NOT inches for the drain plug. I'd avoid FRAM filters, they're not the same quality as they used to be.
Do you still have the CRV? If so, how's it been running.
Ex wife has it and she still has it running well....god bless her evil soul. xD
LOL, I've got acouple off them to.Just worked on my sons CRV. Your video was helpful.
+52komatsu You have a couple of ex-wives?
You should've put the dirty oil and filter back in the car before giving it to her - she don't deserve Mobile1 lol
Haaaaaaaa

thanks for posting this . Now I know where the filter is.
really nice video, now I know where the filter is. thanks
No probs.
@mharon79 not that it was "forgotten", just that this seal stuck to the block....came off this cheap oil filter a tad too easily. That is one mistake i will never overlook again. Gave me a shit my pantz kinda scare for a moment.
Great video!! Thank you!!
Take your used oil filter to your parts store and recycle it there. Don’t throw it in the trash. Oreillys recycles them for free!
FRAM is the worst filter ever made, fact
TOO much camera movement. did now show WHERE the motor oil cap is and where the check stick is ( for the novice) . The other guy burps.. how disgusting.
17inch socket and fram air filter lmfao
How is that what she says? lol 😂
Loctite??😳 That's a first🤣🤣
I LIKE to reply to comments. IDE LIKE to say thank you for your response and I LIKE to suggest subbing to my channel as it IS NECESSARY. xD
The top of the dipstick is 5 quarts exactly. I use the Honda OE filter plus Redline 5W-20 every 5,000- 6,000 highway miles.

Nice vidja
lol.......yeah cheesy remarks help make our projects fun.
Yeah, that oil is pretty gross
Fram filter are JUNK, spend 5 bucks more and put mobil or some shit like that, just my 10 cents here
