@@dambition7495Why? I understand wanting a smaller device, but idk, personally it being bigger makes me want it more because I just have big hands. Then again, I guess I’ve gotten used to the switch, and I bring it with me a lot.
I was that guy thinking about what to buy for many weeks, but today i finally bought my first switch ever, the switch lite, just one day after the switch 2 reveal. My reasoning is that the smaller size of the lite will be a great compliment to the switch 2's much bigger size that i plan to buy when available
Congrats on your new Switch Lite! It’s such a great console, especially for gaming on the go. Pairing it with the Switch 2 sounds like a smart plan actually.. ^^ What game are you starting with on the Lite?
i just bought the zelda gold switch lite last week and am loving it. it’s so great playing modern games on such a tiny little handheld . it’s actually nostalgic of the 90s when i’d be glued to my gameboy and gameboy advance
That’s such an awesome choice! The Zelda Gold Switch Lite looks amazing! It’s cool how something so modern can still give off those nostalgic vibes or? The portability really does bring back memories of the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance days imo. What games have you been playing on it so far?
The Switch 2 is gonna have a big “buy in” curve with everyone still talking about the Switch and Lite and all their games all these years later (and even in the face of the upcoming console evolution).
You are so right here. I can imagine that one factors is the price. We know that many people don’t have or don’t want to spend that much money on newer hardware to play the newest games. That’s why we end up revisiting older hardware which is actually still capable of making people happy. The game library of the older consoles is huge. Many people didn’t played even half of it. With the backwards compatibility companies are trying to convince people to buy the newer hardware to play your backlog, but if the money is the factor, ppl gonna choose what’s less expensive. Do you still own any of the older gen console or are you already on the current gen?
I picked up a couple 3DS and a bunch of DS handhelds over the last few years and stocked up on some games for those consoles. I’m a sucker for nostalgia. I never owned those consoles when they originally came out. My last console was a Wii before the switch.
Ahhh I feel this so much. My first console was a SEGA Mega Drive II, PS One was next and then only a PC. No GameBoy, no DS, no PSP, no GameCube or Wii... I bought a PS3 around 9 years ago and realized how much I did miss it. Now I just want to get them all, like Pokemon's.. 😅 What is the next console on your "I Never Had This" list? 😁
I got a brand new one (sealed) for $160. It's crazy how affordable this thing is. I'm able to play games like TOTK and Mario Odyssey, at such a great price point. Plus it's dead silent. My old PS4 is really loud and it's really hard to stay immersed in games but the switch lite is amazing. I was thinking of picking up some HE joysticks. So I wouldn't have to worry about it getting drift in the future.
That is so nice. One of the best deals you can imagine! I have put like over 50 hours into Pokémon Legends Arceus (the story isn’t even finished yet) on my Lite and I love every aspect of this console, because as you mentioned - it’s dead silent and you can play on it even in the bed without disturbing anyone. Is there any game you would love to play on the Switch?
I thought I got one for a similar price on ebay, but I got caught for taxes and customs :(. ended up being €200. Still worth it because I got it modded for another 60€ so I have every game for free :). These things being hackable is a crazy value proposition! I just wish I had done it years ago. The analog sticks and buttons are crap though. Nintendo need to do better in next generation.
I just bought a used Lite (same color) for 60 dollars and have seen plenty of others for 100 or less on FB Marketplace here in the US. At that price it's a no-brainer. The library is enormous and I think it's a more comfortable handheld than the OLED. I would not recommend buying one new, though. It just doesn't make sense when the Switch 2 is right around the corner, and you'll lose half the money you paid for your Lite if you sell it towards one. And like you said, I like the idea of carrying a handheld around with me that's not worth much in case it's damaged or stolen.
Such a great deal for $60! The Switch Lite is definitely a fantastic value, especially when bought used at such a low price. The library of games alone makes it a no-brainer for handheld gaming with this price. Do you already bought some games? What do you plan to play first? 😁
I went with the Switch Lite for the reason that it's more comfortable for my hands since the joycons of the OLED are somewhat uncomfortable since the bottom corners of the joycons are thick and won't let me hold it correctly. I've been using mine semi-frequently since i bought it 6 months ago and it's been tons of fun despite that i got mine just to play Devil May Cry initially, ended up getting games i haven't played in years for it alongside some new ones.
Thank you for sharing your experience! It's interesting how the design differences between the Lite and the regular Switch models can make such a big difference in comfort, especially for longer gaming sessions. The weight was the biggest factor for me because the Lite is such a lightweight console. It sounds like the Switch Lite has been a great fit for you, and it’s awesome that it led you to revisit older games while also discovering new ones. Devil May Cry is such a fun choice to start with! What other games have you enjoyed on it so far?
@davegc1 oh believe me, it was the best choice for me, it's rather very lightweight and easier to handle, not to mention a much more affordable option. I got mine at Walmart for $200 and so far i have no complains whatsoever, as for games i've enjoyed so far i've been enjoying games like Final Fantasy X, Beyond Good & Evil "these first two brings back memories of my stepbrother playing them a lot on the PS2 way back in the day" Okami HD, Luigi's Mansion, Sonic Mania ect. I know i went for a switch around 7 years after it's launch since i'm the kind of person that doesn't like wasting money on things that i know i don't need or that i get bored of it very quickly, but i decided to just well go for it what's left to lose and so far i'm enjoying my time with it and i know the Switch 2 is just around the corner and it looks cool and all but i don't see a reason for me to upgrade for the time being, until my Switch Lite decides to give up on me that's more than enough for me when it comes for consoles for my entertainment.
Yeah, the Switch 2 is exciting, but if the Lite is still doing everything you need, there’s no rush to upgrade and I also won't rush with the upgrade. I'll probably wait for the Switch 2 Lite. Any other upcoming games you’re looking forward to playing on it?
@davegc1 as far as for new upcoming games i have nothing interesting in mind, for games that have been released for a while now i'm looking foward to play Crow Country, it's like the old Resident Evil games with the graphic style of the OG FFVII. I'm also considering upgrading my SD Card as well since i'm using a 128 GB one for starters and i'm aiming for a 512GB for the time being. I could go for a 1TB one but most of the time you need to search well in order to avoid getting a fake one, especially 1TB SD cards.
It is the perfect size and has such a fantastic library. With the OLED screen/HDMI out/touchscreen mod for the Lite and hall effect sticks, this will be a console that remains popular
Santa brought my 6 year old a switch OLED, she's carried it with her practically everywhere since it's been setup....with no case, no silicone nothing. I'm stressed out big time.
@@robhunter7245 I would pack the OLED in a rhino protective shield case probably if my 5y old would carry it around 😅 he takes sometimes my Lite and I have somehow no problem with that even though I have only a protective glass on the screen and nothing else. The OLED on the other side, there is so much it can happen 😅 Did you thought about some sort of a silicon case only maybe? They are actually pretty cheap on Amazon.
If you wanna play switch games and don't wanna wait for Switch 2, then definitely go for the Switch Lite in 2025. I'd personally buy games in physical form tho since we still don't know what the Switch 2's Home UI and shop will be like or whether games will transfer over or whatever. But the Switch Lite is definitely the temporary option.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I completely agree with you, especially if you're more into portability. Going for physical games makes sense too, given the confirmation about the Switch 2's backward compatibility we can start building our libraries even now. Do you have a favorite physical game in your collection right now? I’ve been enjoying Pokémon Legends: Arceus since over 40 hours of gameplay.. ^^
I bought the Pokemon S&S limited edition lite for £116 including Pokemon sword cart screen protector hori case and a bunch of different accessories of Vinted definitely worth it same as you prefer the lite when out of the house or on the move. Hate that the Pokemon games aren’t cross save though!!
That was a steal! Congrats to you and enjoy this console! And yep, I would love to play Legends Arceus on my Lite on the go and then just resume on the OLED at home but yea... it is what it is, we can't have everything.. 😂 Was the Pokemon S&S your first Pokemon Switch game?
Now that you can dock the switch lite, have an OLED screen and a better battery through hardware mod kits this is absolutely the BEST switch model to buy in my opinion and has the best image quality due to its size. Even when the switch 2 drops i plan to use mine to have that true handheld feel rather than feel like an ipad, so i'm looking forward to playing through my backlog and enjoying emulation on this thing in 2025!
I'm planning to mod my this year and I won't stop playing even after the release of the successor. It's a great console and the library is massive so until I'll finish it, the Switch 5 might be released.. 😂 What do you play currently on it?
@@davegc1 I'm sure the mods will be well worth it, really adds to the console! Right now i'm playing Echos of wisdom, The thousand year door, Metroid dread and sonic X shadow generations. I feel you on getting through the massive library though, i had the switch since launch day in 2017 and theres even more games i haven't finished yet😭
I've seen a lot of videos recently because I wanted to buy a moded switch. I can get a Lite for 175€ or an OLED for 300€, both in immaculate conditions. First I was decided on the Lite for the portability and ergonomics, but I have two main concerns: the screen size and the joystick drift. About the screen size, I've seen many people say that for games like Xenoblade, BOTW, TOTK, games with an open world and a lot of information on the screen, the screen size of the Lite is too small. For reference, my vision is perfect according to the doctor ahaha. Then I tought about the OLED, but I've seen people say that it is too big and heavy (about the ergonomics I don't mind buying a split pad or something like that). To conclude, I'm just keeping the OLED option open because 300€ seems a pretty good deal for a moded one (usually they're 350€ with some used marks, 400€ with almost immaculate condition). What deal should I go for?
Thank you very much for checking out my video and sharing your thoughts. You're definitely asking the right questions when deciding between the Lite and OLED, especially considering the games you would like to play. As for the Lite portability and ergonomics are its biggest strengths, especially if you plan to game on the go a lot. But you're right, open-world games with lots of UI details can feel a bit cramped (I don't have any problem with that, I play Civilization VI on it...) on the smaller screen. It might not bother you as much as some people if your vision is great and overall you can get used to it but it is a factor worth considering. As for the OLED The screen is a game-changer for those open-world games, everything pops, and the bigger size makes long play sessions more immersive imo. With a split pad or ergonomic grips, you can easily solve the weight/comfort issue if you can invest little bit into that. Plus, 300€ for a modded OLED in immaculate condition sounds like a steal, because I paid 270€ for my non-modded OLED in perfect condition. So if portability is your priority (and you'll play a lot on the go), the Lite is great and saves you some cash which you can either invest into games or the OLED+HDMI mod or even a case for better handling. But if you want to jump straight ahead into playing games and you consider also playing on a monitor/tv or more at home in the handheld mode, it’s hard to pass up on that OLED deal. Also have in mind, that with a modded OLED you can't play online (you would need to switch between the software, as far as I know, to play online). Either way, you’re getting a fantastic gaming experience with both of them. I would love to know what you've decided.. 😁
@@davegc1 Well, I got the OLED and couldn't be more happy with my choice. The console really is immaculate, the only thing you can notice are some superficial scratch marks on the white joycons, but it really is nothing. The guy I bought the console also had the lite so I could compare both and the screens don't evene compare. I mainly bought it to play at home, but handheld, since I play everything else on my pc. (I have my miyoo mini plus when I'm on the go😉). Regarding the ergonomics: I don't really find the oled to be that heavy to the point of being uncomfortble, and while I could play with the joycons (took a few hours to adapt), I ended up getting some hori split pad pros, mainly because of the joysticks (god the joycon ones are horrible 😂, I tought they would, at least, be like the Wii ones). While on the topic, I've researched a lot before buying the split pads, since they don't have hd rumble nor gyro (the other functions don't really matter to me). Regarding the rumble, I decided that I could just not have it, since most games I'll play won't really have that immersion with it (for those, i would play on the PC if they're third parties); but the gyro function got me searching a lot and I'm still confused. Most of the comments I've read talked about the gyro concrening the aim in games; since I've aimed in games all my life with a mouse and a joystick, I taught I would not miss that tbh. Nevertheless, some people mentioned some puzzles in Zelda that required gyro without other option besides bugging them. If you could help, I would like to know if there are more games with this "mandatory" gyro or if I can just play most of them with it (obviously I'm not talking about games like switch sports 😅). To concluce, I'm really happy with my purchase. With the split pad pros it's really confortable to play and my first game is Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu. My second console ever (after playstation 2) was a gameboy colour with pokemon yellow. And I can remeber playing pokemon fire red for the first time years later. Well, I got the same felling with Pokemon Let's Play Pikachu (even tho the concept of the game is different, which I'm loving). I just can't wait to finish my last essay this semestres for my master to play much more 😁
For me, the Switch Lite has the best form factor. It's light. It has a D-pad. It's solid. It just feels good in my hands. It's my go-to Switch, even though my OLED looks much better.
Totally agree! My OLED hardly ever leaves the dock, while my Lite gets daily use. The form factor and portability really make it the perfect handheld for me while the D-pad is the cherry on top. Glad to hear you feel the same way! What do you play currently? 😁
@hanju.bernal how long do you have yours? The buttons of my Switch Lite are still looking fine, without any yellowish signs. Do you store it in a case or so? Maybe some cleaning solution would help?
I have checked mine under a white lite and even UV, but couldn't notice anything and compared it to a brand new one that my friend got, looks the same. So maybe the one @Watcher-Gaming got is somehow special? 😅
Switch lite was my first switch, it would probably be the perfect handheld if it weren't for 1 thing that goes so far that it makes it not usable for me the screen. Very tiny low res on top of all that, it's not bright when I bought the OLED model it was like buying a new console, never went back to lite
The screen on the Lite may be smaller, but it actually has the same resolution as the other models, so the pixel density is the same, making the image look sharper. However, I do agree that it’s not very bright and struggles in outdoor scenarios. Would you consider getting a Switch 2 Lite if it came with an OLED screen?
My switch oled got stolen a while back, and I wanted an affordable way to get back into switch games since I’m probably buying the Switch 2 day 1 😅 Switch Lite + Satisfye grip has been an extremely comfortable way to fix my switch itch, to the point where I’m not even missing docked mode that much😮
I'm sorry for your loss but happy that you could go this way and it did fulfill your needs! Is the Satisfye grip worth it? I'm thinking about it but then I would also need to buy the case for that. 😅
@ honestly, it depends; i mean it definitely lessens portability a bit, but the ergonomics make a world of difference. I’m a pretty large-handed guy, so the switch lite on its own was giving me handcramps for the claw grip; now I can literally play for unlimited hours. Combine that with how light the console is and gaming in bed has never been better 😮💨
That is actually a good recommendation! I have checked Amazon and there is non in-stock and from the website directly the shipping only would cost me almost 40€ so I'll have to wait a little, because I would like to have the grip with the case together. In between I'll probably order a case with some grip attachments and see how it works, but you are right, gaming in bed is much better with the Lite than the OLED... 😅 What do you play currently on the Lite if I may to ask?
For me the Lite feels way better for longer sessions, because my hands won't get tired so much 😅 Did you maybe bought any grip for the OLED or the Lite?
@@davegc1 I only use the flip cover on my lite, and for the oled just a regular case. That official Nintendo flip cover for the lite saves so much space
I think a Switch 2 Lite is likely, but if they follow the same timeline as the original, it might release about two years after the launch of the first version. It will probably be a little smaller than the V1 but slightly bigger than the original Switch Lite. Were you already planning to buy the Switch 2 Lite when it comes out?
True, I didn't mentioned that, the OLED is more superior in bright light. Sometimes I do struggle with the Switch Lite panel so a Switch Lite OLED would be great. Do you own a Switch Lite maybe?
@sisamusudroka3000 definitely! I saw that the restock will be February so I'll aim to order mine as well, because having Switch Lite OLED would be superior. Did you modded your Lite already?
Thank you for that! After reading your comment I did google it and you are right, it is because of the graphics and dynamic resolution changes. I get used to it after like 30 min of gameplay but at the beginning of my journey with Link's Awakening I was little bit worried about that 😅 Did you finish the game actually?
I'm thinking about getting lite, purely because of the price. I'm saving money for mortgage, so the price is appealing, also given the fact i would mainly play handheld. I might want to occasionally play some party games with friends, but i dont think it's worth it, to pay double the price just for few hours of party games once a year
That makes a lot of sense, especially if you’re focused on handheld gaming and saving for a mortgage. The Switch Lite is a great budget-friendly choice for solo gaming, and it’s super portable too. If party games aren’t a big priority, it sounds like the Lite would suit your needs perfectly. Have you decided what games you’ll play first maybe?
I got my original Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite for a few years ago. I love them ever since. I'm planning to get the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet edition Nintendo Switch OLED
That is so cool, that you have the original one and the Lite. You use both of them on a daily basis? The OLED Pokémon SV is so nice. I was hunting for it but the prices where to high so I ended up buying the standard OLED.
i just got the new zelda edition switch lite!! ppl might think its stupid cause its so late but nintendo consoles age the best. wish i bought a 3ds while they were out so i wont make the same mistake! also youre handsome
Thank you so much for your kind words! 😊 The Zelda edition Switch Lite is a great choice, such a beautiful design. And you're absolutely right, Nintendo consoles really do age like fine wine. I totally get the 3DS regret (I'm looking out for one right now ^^'), but you're making up for it now! What games are you planning to play on your new Switch Lite?
Honestly, unless Ninendo lowers the price to $100 as a close-out, the it's dumb to buy any current Switch product. Even buying a used one is dumb. It's a handheld protable device that will require a battery replacement. That'll bring both hastle and cost in the near future. Really just save your money and use that money toward the new unit. If you're thinking, well, it's a good gift. Well, you're gifting a product that your giftee will want to upgrade to next version anyway just to play the latest games. Just save the money, the new console can next year's gift.
You bring up some valid points actually. The battery replacement and future-proofing are definitely things to consider. But imo for some people, the lower cost of a Switch Lite (especially used) makes it a great option, whether it’s a budget-friendly gift or for someone who just wants to play the huge library of current Switch games. I think not everyone feels the need to jump to the newest console right away (maybe because of the price?). Appreciate your take though! Are you actually exited about the Switch successor? You plan to buy it right away?
@davegc1 no I have a launch edition switch already and a decent digital library so I had them. Going to be modding the launch switch and liked the form factor of the lite for on the go stuff.
I also love the form factor of the Lite and that was the main reason I got it. You don't have to worry about anything, like a GameBoy Advance. What did you started to play on the Lite? 😁
Hi there, It depends if you want to do it on your own or use the service of a repair shop. If on your own then you would spend around 40-80$ on parts and your time. In this case check ifixit guide or some TH-cam tutorials on how to do it so you know which tools are required. If you would use a service, it might costs 120$ to around 200$ even. It all depends on your location, because every repair shop charges different prices. Overall the regular switch is still a great device to use even in 2025 imo, so there are some alternatives instead of spending money on repairing. There are screen protectors which can hide some of the scratches, and they don’t costs as much as a new screen. Instead of replacing battery you could just use a powerbank. It isn’t the best solution, but you won’t need so much on replacing the battery. Summarising, 80$ for the regular switch is pretty good, but considering the replacement of the screen and battery might hurt your pocket and you wouldn’t feel, that it was the best deal ever. Think about those alternatives I suggested, go also maybe to a local repair shop and ask them for prices, and let me know if you need any other help or information.
Good question actually... Honestly imo, not everyone has the budget for the latest hardware right away. A lot of people still consider older consoles, even the PS3 and Xbox 360, which are way older than the Switch, so the Switch or the Lite still makes sense for many. Plus, if you check prices, you’ll see that a Switch Lite can go for as little as $100 on local marketplaces, or $120-150 on eBay, which is way more affordable than the new console that might cost more than the original Switch at launch. For some, it’s the perfect choice in my opinion.
@ Fair point, sir. I don’t disagree with any of what you said. I guess my point was, this mostly goes without being said but not gonna hate on the grind!
@denvernaicker8250 seems like it was still interesting for him to some degree 😅 I'm actually glad the video could spark some discussion, because it's always interesting to see what others think 😁
Tbh i think its worth it i got mine a few years back still play it alot but now that i have a retroid pocket 5 the lite is my secondary handheld until i mod it or until there is a software mod available so i dont have to solder anything into my lite
Thank you for sharing! I think having something like Retroid Pocket is a cool option to have something what Nintendo doesn't offer even in the NSO and Lite as a second handheld works just great! What do you play actually on the RP5?
That is what I have thought. Nintendo could make even more money with those titles being in the membership, but I think they plan something else for that (hopefully). Are there still any Switch titles you play on the Lite?
@davegc1 not really I'm not the biggest fan of nintendo, I mainly got the lite to play re4,5, burnout paradise, and my third party titles, only nintendo first party game I play is mariokart
Even after the release of the successor the Switch Lite won't be immediately dropped by Nintendo, at least I hope so. We can enjoy playing on it even after more than 2 years, because the library is pretty big and the games are actually really good optimized so the only thing to do is playing all those games.. 😁 Do you already have a Switch Lite or think about getting one?
With over 10,000 games available, why wouldn't you buy it? Okay, the Switch 2 is around the corner. But does this make all those games disappear? I also still play 3DS a lot. No newer hardware will ever make me enjoy these games less than before.
Absolutely agree! The library of so many games is one of the Switch's biggest strengths, and no new hardware can take that away to be honest. The 3DS is a perfect example-it still holds up because of its amazing games. Could you share your favorite titles to play on the Switch or 3DS maybe? I'm actually looking out to buy 3DS or 3DS XL as I never had this console. 😅
The cheapest Series S I found on eBay was $200 and still, can it play games on discs? No. The One X can. Sure, it's older generation, but still powerful enough, to play your backlog on a 4K TV with HDR enabled without any problems. I paid 100€ for used One X (and you can get it even cheaper) but for a used Series X I would need to pay at least 350€ (source: eBay). You see the difference? Not everyone want to spend all that money for a console and instead goes for the older generation which is also fine. Games on discs are also extremely cheap and you can buy them second hand. Even if you want to play FC25 you'll have to pay full price in the Microsoft Store, but on eBay you can find it for 1/3 of the digital price. Thank you for the comment and sharing your opinion with us!
I played Sonic as a kid on the Sega Megadrive so this hits different for me 😅 but I see that you have other Nintendo handhelds, do you still choose Lite more over the other ones?
The switch lite is good if you don't want to miss out Nintendo's first party games. For all other games they are way better options than a awitch lite.
Thank you for your opinion! Overall I would play Switch Sports or Mario Party and any game which involves joycons features. Besides that it’s actually pretty good system and the portability is top notch imo. Do you own the Lite or any other model?
It depends on the country you are from. Here in Germany we look on Kleinanzeigen or Facebook marketplace. Usually Facebook marketplace is a good option, but you'll have to look out for scams and not buy the cheapest one as it may be not the best option if the seller doesn't "look" trustworthy. You want to pick up a Switch Lite for yourself?
@@davegc1 yep, I have a ds lite and a psp. I love them but I tried a switch and I loved it. But if I were to get it, it'll take some time, I'm saving up for a phone so it have to wait till next year or smth like that. But I'm getting one no matter what
I wish you the best! Sooner or later you'll get this and I can tell you, the waiting will be worth it! I also had to wait (sometimes years) to get something I wanted so I know the struggle, keep it up!
That was a great deal! I didn't mentioned it but yeah, modding the Switch Lite is easier than the OLED and it's crazy what it does offer. Did you got the SD card full with games already? 😁
they would delay it because everyone just got switched for christmas so no one’s gonna go out and buy a switch 2 after just getting an oled or lite for christmas especially parents that bought them as gifts for their kids
Thank you for sharing your opinion. I think Nintendo will announce it this year but the release... probably we'll be surprised by them. The Switch V2, OLED and Lite are still selling (NEW) well, so this will be interesting to see, how the successor will do. As if buy the Lite now or not, in my opinion it always depends on needs, budget and the offer.
I found one for 95 dollars, should I buy it? just want to play TOK and Maybe legends Arceas, but thats about it. I would want to just sell it later for hopefully the same amount or a little more Thoughts?
For 95$, if it is in a good - very good condition, it is a great deal! I would suggest playing BOTW (if you didn't), Legends Arceus and then TOTK (playing both Zelda titles in a row can lead to a burnout). Try maybe out also titles like Super Mario Odyssey, Metroid Dread, Xenoblade Chronicles, Splatoon 3. Maybe they'll convince you to keep the Switch. ^^ Afterall if you play the games you want in a short amount of time, take a good care of the system, you can always resell it even with a bit higher price if you won't decide to keep it, because as I already mentioned in the video, it goes for around 150$ right now on ebay. Will it be your first ever Nintendo Switch system?
@@davegc1 I have played breath of the wild. I ended up buying it, it is honestly really nice. not the colour I was expecting though but it's growing on me. I don't care about playing it on the tv, just wanted to play those games
Tbh I think it's a pass. Had one. Games are expensive. The tech is very old. There are better options. Switch oled or steam deck. Then who knows if nintendo will allow you to access you games into the future. You purchase access to a game. You don't own games.
Thank you for your comment! Switch OLED and Steam Deck are more superior in some cases than the Switch Lite, true, but there are still scenarios where the Switch Lite shines (portability, overall build design). Being also cheaper than those 2 mentioned and giving the access to the full library of Nintendo Switch games is a thing and, in my case at least, I don't have to worry about the games, because I own 95% physical and only few (some indie games) digital. What handheld do you rock nowadays?
Great choice! I’ve got the blue one too as you might’ve seen it in the video. 😅 Did you got a case, thumbsticks covers and screen protector right away? And I'm so curious about what games are you planning to play on it now..? 👀😅
@davegc1 yes I did!! got some tall thumb grips, and they feel so nice lately i been playing akane, figmen, and stardew vally. And I should be getting a few more games soon
Mine has also extra covers on the thumbsticks, without them it feels so weird.. 😅 Ahh Stardew Valley is such a cool title! Do you also plan to play Animal Crossing? 😁
@davegc1 I'm not too sure, especially with how much I have going on in Stardew and how addictive it is but maybe during summer I could try to get into it I get lost in time playing those types of games but I started to enjoy the RPG styled Mario games
I'm actually afraid to start Stardew or Animal Crossing, because I know that I'll be lost in it, but I'll have to give it a go eventually.. 😂 Which was your first Mario game?
I respect your opinion, but for some people, the Switch Lite makes a lot more sense than the other versions. For example, it's more portable, lightweight, and budget-friendly for those who primarily play handheld. It's worth noting that the Lite sold 24.51 million units (as of September 2024), which is almost half the PS4's sales of 56 million units. I'm curious now, what is it about the Lite that you feel makes it worse compared to the base model or OLED? Is it the lack of docked mode, screen size, not having an OLED screen or something else?
i'm thinking of getting a switch lite in late january; i'm my country (brazil) a used one is 900brl (roughly 140 euro) and a new one is ~1.290brl (~200 euro). the price of a new lite is the same of a used V1 or V2 switch but i would probably need to travel to another state to pick it up; and i already have a Wii U to play on the TV so what would you recommend? i really wanted to wait for a switch sucessor but it would probably take years before it's price becomes affordable here, our currency is actually melting rn 🙃
@jogadorcmm3717 considering you already have a Wii U for TV gaming, the Switch Lite sounds like a great option for you in my opinion. It's perfect for handheld gaming and more affordable without compromising on access to the amazing Switch library. Titles like Switch Sports, Just Dance or any other where you need a TV would be challenging, but other than that it is a great console. Traveling to another state for a used V1 or V2 Switch might not be worth the hassle, because you don't only spend the money on the console but you have to spend money on ticket or gasoline. In my opinion the Switch Lite fits your needs better, because you already own a Wii U (which you probably use actively). Other option would be to sell Wii U, gather some more money and buy the V2 if you care about the TV mode or table top mode. If not then Lite all the way! As for waiting for a Switch successor, you're right-it could take years before it's both available and reasonably priced in some countries so waiting until then could be a hassle on it's own. Overall if portability and budget are your priorities, I’d recommend going for the Lite. 😁
@@davegc1 Thanks! i'm probably going to get a switch lite used or new, it really depends if i'm going to test my luck again in the used market (got a deal on a used wii u in like 2021 and a used pixel 7 pro in the start of 2024). i'm currently saving some money to buy a graphics card (the new intel arc b580) and whatever's left i'm going to use to buy the switch 😄
Get it used if you'll find a good deal, because after buying the B580 you wouldn't want to spend almost the same amount of money on another thing.. 😅 Did you already plan which games would you get with it?
@@davegc1 i'm getting the arc card to play Hogwarts Legacy, Crusader Kings III and Cities Skylines, my Intel UHD graphics has suffered enough already; with the switch i'm planning to get probably Mario Odyssey first. i was able to find a used Switch V2 on facebook marketplace for only 120, cheaper than the 150 i would pay for a used lite; i'm not sure yet with which i will buy.
You are so right! There are already some mods and you can install OLED panel to get the Switch Lite OLED, but there are some limitations also (I think the touch doesn't work on certain mods). Do you still own a Switch Lite? 😁
Yea those mods are getting better and better. Probably in few months I'll mod mine as well. Having OLED and all features (touch) on the Switch Lite is badass imo.
I totally get where you’re coming from, because I used to feel the same way. After giving Nintendo a try, I actually started to love it. There’s a certain simplicity and pure joy in their games that’s hard to find elsewhere. Plus, they’re often polished and finished at launch, unlike many of today’s AAA games that come out buggy or incomplete. Have you ever thought about giving a Nintendo console a shot maybe?
I also do hope, that we'll get a Switch Lite. Probably we'll need to wait months or years for it (the Switch Lite was released 2 years after the OG Switch) but let's hope, it will get an OLED panel this time and some upgrades. 😁 Do you own the Switch Lite actually?
@davegc1 yes I like it and because I break my joycons alot because they get out of the Nintendo switch some how they break I got it this Christmas with Lego dc super villains I hope they bring a Lego Batman pack with the 3 games like batman Arkham
That was my biggest concern about the joycons, that's why I prefer the Switch Lite... 😅 The Lego Batman idea would be so great actually. Am I right, that you are into Lego games? 😅 Would you recommend something?
switch 2 definitely won’t release till next christmas imo, hella kids definitely just got switch oleds or lites for christmas and their parents won’t dig into their pockets for the switch 2 if it gets released in the next few months
You make a good point actually! The Switch OLED and Lite were definitely popular holiday gifts (I saw many posts on Reddit about that), and it wouldn’t make much sense for Nintendo to drop the Switch 2 too soon after. If it does release next Christmas, it could give more families time to save up (because the price will be around or above $300). Are there any features you would like to see in the Switch 2 (or the so called successor)?
Thanks for your comment! While the Steam Deck is a great device, it’s in a different category than the Switch Lite. The Switch Lite is more portable, used costs less, and gives access to Nintendo’s exclusive games (there is emulation on Steam Deck but it isn't the same feeling), which are a big draw for many players. Everyone has their preferences, and both systems have their strengths. It’s all about what works best for you in my opinion.
The modding community will keep the switch lite alive.
That is true... ^^
The same goes to Wii & Wii U and any other console. The lifespan is as long as the modding community is alive.
Do you own the Lite?
are we not gonna get a switch lite 2? the moment i saw that the switch 2 was gonna be bigger i didnt want it. :(
@@dambition7495Why?
@@davegc1 i got mario kart and the crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy for some nostalgia sessions
@@CesarTreetopsi got Switch lite too since october 2024 i got for now like 21-22 Games i can recommend the assasins creed games and witcher 3
I love turning on my Lite Switch everyday 💡
i just bought the zelda gold switch lite last week and am loving it. it’s so great playing modern games on such a tiny little handheld . it’s actually nostalgic of the 90s when i’d be glued to my gameboy and gameboy advance
What is the next console on your "I Never Had This" list?
You need to get the grip though makes it so much better
@ Which one do you like best?
Nice video man, really reasonable. 👍
Thank you very much!
Do you have the Switch Lite maybe?
@@davegc1 Had 1 a long time ago but didn't play much games on it. But I bought another, soon to get it. Dialga & palkia edition.
It is the perfect size and has such a fantastic library. With the OLED screen/HDMI out/touchscreen mod for the Lite and hall effect sticks, this will be a console that remains popular
This is so true! I'm looking out to mod it myself but the parts are not avaiable as for now.. I have to wait 😅
Do you already have a modded Lite?
@@davegc1 No but I will. I am waiting too. I hope Taki Udon makes bigger batches because they sell quick.
The OLED on the other side, there is so much it can happen 😅
Did you thought about some sort of a silicon case only maybe? They are actually pretty cheap on Amazon.
it still holds up i bought one a few months ago and have been playing nonstop so yeah its worth it :)
Yep! I play currently Pokemon Legends Arceus on it every day ^^
What games do you play?
@@davegc1 mario 3d world mainly
Nice! Mario 3D World is a awesome pick. Did you already completed it, or are you just playing for fun?
Was the Pokemon S&S your first Pokemon Switch game?
I got mine new for 140$ tax included 2 months ago. Fantastic Console
That’s fantastic! What was your first game? 😁
Planning to buy one for myself
I paid $30, missing right analog, everything works perfectly aside from missing analog
That is a crazy deal! Replacing the analog will cost almost nothing 😁
What do you plan to play first?
Now that you can dock the switch lite, have an OLED screen and a better battery through hardware mod kits this is absolutely the BEST switch model to buy in my opinion and has the best image quality due to its size. Even when the switch 2 drops i plan to use mine to have that true handheld feel rather than feel like an ipad, so i'm looking forward to playing through my backlog and enjoying emulation on this thing in 2025!
I'm planning to mod my this year and I won't stop playing even after the release of the successor. It's a great console and the library is massive so until I'll finish it, the Switch 5 might be released.. 😂
What do you play currently on it?
@@davegc1 I'm sure the mods will be well worth it, really adds to the console! Right now i'm playing Echos of wisdom, The thousand year door, Metroid dread and sonic X shadow generations. I feel you on getting through the massive library though, i had the switch since launch day in 2017 and theres even more games i haven't finished yet😭
That's all I've ever owned the Lite Switch i love it but I'm getting a docked version for the Switch Too
@@DR.DisInfect oh nice! Enjoy your games on your TV then! What made you buy the other Switch version? Only the dock option?
One thing I don't like the lite was white buttons it gets yellowish
@hanju.bernal how long do you have yours? The buttons of my Switch Lite are still looking fine, without any yellowish signs. Do you store it in a case or so? Maybe some cleaning solution would help?
@@davegc1 I haven’t noticed mine yellowing either, but I don’t have a new one to compare it to
I have checked mine under a white lite and even UV, but couldn't notice anything and compared it to a brand new one that my friend got, looks the same. So maybe the one @Watcher-Gaming got is somehow special? 😅
Switch lite was my first switch, it would probably be the perfect handheld if it weren't for 1 thing that goes so far that it makes it not usable for me
the screen.
Very tiny
low res
on top of all that, it's not bright
when I bought the OLED model it was like buying a new console, never went back to lite
What do you play currently on the Lite if I may to ask?
Good video!😃
Thank you very much!
Do you own a Switch Lite maybe? 😅
@ yeah I really like it, i also own the oled but I think the lite is way more comfortable
For me the Lite feels way better for longer sessions, because my hands won't get tired so much 😅
Did you maybe bought any grip for the OLED or the Lite?
@@davegc1 I only use the flip cover on my lite, and for the oled just a regular case. That official Nintendo flip cover for the lite saves so much space
are we not gonna get a switch lite 2? the moment i saw that the switch 2 was gonna be bigger i didnt want it. :(
I think a Switch 2 Lite is likely, but if they follow the same timeline as the original, it might release about two years after the launch of the first version. It will probably be a little smaller than the V1 but slightly bigger than the original Switch Lite. Were you already planning to buy the Switch 2 Lite when it comes out?
As for a portable (size) it is the go to option I think. Yet OLED fairs better outside...
True, I didn't mentioned that, the OLED is more superior in bright light. Sometimes I do struggle with the Switch Lite panel so a Switch Lite OLED would be great.
Do you own a Switch Lite maybe?
@@davegc1 do you think you'll try out the oled panel mod for the lite?
@sisamusudroka3000 definitely! I saw that the restock will be February so I'll aim to order mine as well, because having Switch Lite OLED would be superior. Did you modded your Lite already?
Link's Awakening has frame rate drops because of dynamic resolution changes, if I remember correctly.
Thank you for that! After reading your comment I did google it and you are right, it is because of the graphics and dynamic resolution changes. I get used to it after like 30 min of gameplay but at the beginning of my journey with Link's Awakening I was little bit worried about that 😅
Did you finish the game actually?
@davegc1 Pokemon's, I only played blue, so it's finally time to give Nintendo most recognizable brand a chance. Also for sure Zelda, and maybe cuphead
The Zelda edition Switch Lite is a great choice, such a beautiful design. And you're absolutely right, Nintendo consoles really do age like fine wine. I totally get the 3DS regret (I'm looking out for one right now ^^'), but you're making up for it now!
What games are you planning to play on your new Switch Lite?
@@davegc1 yes i agree! and currently im replaying zelda botw and a new lego harry potter game i got that i love
Ahhh Zelda BoTW is such an iconic title and Lego games are a must actually imo. 😁
Do you plan to get Tears of the Kingdom as well?
Picked one up today for $95. Like new at a local pawn shop.
Great! That’s a nice deal. Did you also bought any games with it?
@davegc1 no I have a launch edition switch already and a decent digital library so I had them. Going to be modding the launch switch and liked the form factor of the lite for on the go stuff.
I also love the form factor of the Lite and that was the main reason I got it. You don't have to worry about anything, like a GameBoy Advance.
What did you started to play on the Lite? 😁
It’s a buy! I just bought one used on Buya $80 with shipping. Great device!!!!
Enjoy it! Did you also got some games to play already?
Hello I bought a regular switch for $80 but I need to get the screen and battery replaced. Do you think it would still be a good deal after?
Hi there,
It depends if you want to do it on your own or use the service of a repair shop.
@ alright thanks man. Your really helpful
No problem, glad I could help!
Good luck getting that Switch up and running!
I don’t understand why there’s still videos being made on this topic.
True, it might seem obvious to some, but for others, it’s still a relevant question. Appreciate you respecting the grind, thank you very much!
@1nfamousme210 but your still watching this video
@davegc1 alot of Playstation 1&2, GameCube, and gameboy advance games (that aren't included in Nintendos membership)
Buy a v2 or OLED since my main was the OLED I'm getting the v2 next year
Cool! And why did you decided to go this way? Any particular reason? 😁
A modded switch lite would be nice for budget.
@@adrian_veidt I was thinking about modding mine, but I play a lot of MK & Splatoon 3 online lately so yeah.. 😅
Do you own any of the Switches?
The Nintendo Switch lite is good but I’ve heard about the switch 2 but I think I’ll enjoy switch lite like 2 years but is good
Even after the release of the successor the Switch Lite won't be immediately dropped by Nintendo, at least I hope so.
We can enjoy playing on it even after more than 2 years, because the library is pretty big and the games are actually really good optimized so the only thing to do is playing all those games.. 😁
Do you already have a Switch Lite or think about getting one?
well can you test the one x or ps4 pro next good video btw
Thank you for your comment 🙏
I actually plan to test the last gen consoles and even some of the older ones.
Do you own any of the last gen?
I still play my switch lite.
That's so cool! What do you play currently? 😁
@ I like sonic superstars
I played Sonic as a kid on the Sega Megadrive so this hits different for me 😅 but I see that you have other Nintendo handhelds, do you still choose Lite more over the other ones?
The switch lite is good if you don't want to miss out Nintendo's first party games. For all other games they are way better options than a awitch lite.
Thank you for your opinion!
Overall I would play Switch Sports or Mario Party and any game which involves joycons features. Besides that it’s actually pretty good system and the portability is top notch imo.
Do you own the Lite or any other model?
if you're from europe, what website or marketplace can I get a used one in good condition
EBay, Vinted and Facebook marketplace
I got one with a mod chip for 150 flat worth it.
That was a great deal!
I didn't mentioned it but yeah, modding the Switch Lite is easier than the OLED and it's crazy what it does offer.
Did you got the SD card full with games already? 😁
@@davegc1 yeah i also set up to other sds one running unbuntu and one with android.
That's great! What was your first title played? 😁
@@davegc1 minecraft.
no dont buy it. Since the Switch 1 is still selling so well, Nintendo is not delaying the Switch 2 reveal launch
they would delay it because everyone just got switched for christmas so no one’s gonna go out and buy a switch 2 after just getting an oled or lite for christmas especially parents that bought them as gifts for their kids
I think it will reveal this year but not go on sale till next year. Current models still selling well.
@@johnw4067 people must stop buyomg current switch
I love Lite ❤
Yeah! Was it your first Nintendo console or did you had anything else before that? 😁
Afterall if you play the games you want in a short amount of time, take a good care of the system, you can always resell it even with a bit higher price if you won't decide to keep it, because as I already mentioned in the video, it goes for around 150$ right now on ebay.
Will it be your first ever Nintendo Switch system?
@@davegc1 I have played breath of the wild. I ended up buying it, it is honestly really nice. not the colour I was expecting though but it's growing on me. I don't care about playing it on the tv, just wanted to play those games
Nice! Congrats on that!
Did you also decided if you’ll play any other game besides the ones you’ve already mentioned?
I never liked the Switch lite with the lack of Rumble.
Rumble would be actually really cool but I can imagine, that they didn't include it because of the form factor.
You own any of the other versions?
@@davegc1.... Yes, I currently own the Splatoon edition Oled.
I disagree about the form factor of the lite though. I just think they cheaped out.
Just got the blue one
Great choice!
I’ve got the blue one too as you might’ve seen it in the video. 😅
Did you got a case, thumbsticks covers and screen protector right away?
And I'm so curious about what games are you planning to play on it now..? 👀😅
@davegc1 yes I did!! got some tall thumb grips, and they feel so nice lately i been playing akane, figmen, and stardew vally. And I should be getting a few more games soon
Mine has also extra covers on the thumbsticks, without them it feels so weird.. 😅
Ahh Stardew Valley is such a cool title!
Which was your first Mario game?
The switch lite, is a joke a switch OLED or the base model switch are way better.
Did you already plan which games would you get with it?
@@davegc1 i'm getting the arc card to play Hogwarts Legacy, Crusader Kings III and Cities Skylines, my Intel UHD graphics has suffered enough already; with the switch i'm planning to get probably Mario Odyssey first.
i was able to find a used Switch V2 on facebook marketplace for only 120, cheaper than the 150 i would pay for a used lite; i'm not sure yet with which i will buy.
❤
Thank you for your comment!
Do you own a Nintendo Switch Lite? 😁
6:44
What would you add to it? 😅
Switch Lite needs OLED! It’s the perfect size and form-factor!
You are so right! There are already some mods and you can install OLED panel to get the Switch Lite OLED, but there are some limitations also (I think the touch doesn't work on certain mods).
Do you still own a Switch Lite? 😁
@ I do own all 3 Switch models. The Lite is most comfortable, but the OLED is king. 👑
Having a Lite with OLED upgrade is my wish
@@davegc1 Taki Udon has a switch lite oled mod with touch and hdmi
Yea those mods are getting better and better. Probably in few months I'll mod mine as well. Having OLED and all features (touch) on the Switch Lite is badass imo.
İ never had aby Nintendo console when o look at games at nintendo consoles looks very booring and childish
Wiiiks...
Are you referring to a moment in my video? 😅
No.
I do respect your opinion on this! Care to share why you feel that way? I’d love to hear your perspective!
I hope there a switch 2 lite
I also do hope, that we'll get a Switch Lite. Probably we'll need to wait months or years for it (the Switch Lite was released 2 years after the OG Switch) but let's hope, it will get an OLED panel this time and some upgrades. 😁
Do you own the Switch Lite actually?
@davegc1 yes I like it and because I break my joycons alot because they get out of the Nintendo switch some how they break I got it this Christmas with Lego dc super villains I hope they bring a Lego Batman pack with the 3 games like batman Arkham
That was my biggest concern about the joycons, that's why I prefer the Switch Lite... 😅
The Lego Batman idea would be so great actually. Am I right, that you are into Lego games? 😅 Would you recommend something?
@@davegc1 Lego dc super villains and Lego Skywalker Sega those 2 I played on the Nintendo switch
switch 2 definitely won’t release till next christmas imo, hella kids definitely just got switch oleds or lites for christmas and their parents won’t dig into their pockets for the switch 2 if it gets released in the next few months
Steamdeck
Thanks for your comment! While the Steam Deck is a great device, it’s in a different category than the Switch Lite. The Switch Lite is more portable, used costs less, and gives access to Nintendo’s exclusive games (there is emulation on Steam Deck but it isn't the same feeling), which are a big draw for many players. Everyone has their preferences, and both systems have their strengths. It’s all about what works best for you in my opinion.
