I don't have any switch device yet, I've been playing my 3ds and could never validate getting another console when I work so much. But my best friend is moving and i want to try out animal crossing so we can still connect. I think im gonna get the lite next week, I hope it'll be an easier transition for me since the ds/3ds has been only console I've ever had. Right now im looking up lite vs OLED and reading dozens of articles and comments on them, but I think lite will be the best way for me to get my feet wet.
Great informative video! As soon as I saw the Goldeneye footage, I knew that I was gonna buy this! Really the ONLY reason I started considering getting a Switch was because I miss Goldeneye so much!Thank you.
I still have my Switch Lite since it came out in 2019 and I still love this thing, since I'm more of a handheld gamer. However, I do plan to get either the OLED model or the new one(if it comes out). The D-Pad is great, that I wished the other model had one. But getting a controller resolves that issue. Just like this thing.
This is the best system if you're not looking to use it as a primary gaming console and dock it to your television. Some people say the screen is too small but I actually think the Vita was just perfect, so the screen on this is slightly bigger which is even more perfect. I use the Lite for those great jrpg exclusives and I use the Series X for regular console gaming.
i like the switch lite more then the normal or the oled one, i do not need removable joycons, i do not need to connect to TV, i do not care about screen resolutions and crazy graphic stuff like that, and i do not really like multiplayer games, i just want a small easy to carry console where i can play new nintendo games (something like 3ds but switch version). and from what i see from other people comments on reddits and twitter etc, most switch lite last so much longer without stick drift or did not get any (even with 2-3 years of heavy use) compared to the normal switch (with removable joycons where you need to buy joycons again and again bcs stick drifts) and my hands is not big, i am quite weak, even when playing on the switch lite for to long my hand started to tire, it is so much worst when i play on the normal switch, bigger, wider and more heavier. i can only last the longest about 2 hours before i need to give my hands a break, i can play up to 4 hours on my switch lite. so for me the obvious choice is the switch lite 100%
Actually, and I believe there’s a video that backs this up, the switch lite does have a small performance upgrade over the launch model. It’s extremely minimal but worth pointing out lol
I had joycon drift on my launch system joycons. And my second navy and yellow joycons dont drift but in handheld mode they disconnect every few seconds which renders it useless. Luckily I play like 98% on my Switch lite and also my lite has never had drifted sticks. I absolutely love my Switch lite the Nintendo games and indie games are the best on it.
Im saving up for a lite rn i have an old release switch which has too many problems for me to put up with these days id like to get the lite animal crossing edition it will be a great upgrade and it will be easier to take out the lite on road
My bro had one but he sold it but he regrets it since he went on a trip and his phone only entertained him for so long before got bored. Now he is hinting at me getting him one for Christmas for when he goes traveling l. I hope a lite upgrade doesn't come out next year and I waste my money.
I have my steam oled so I don't touch my oled switch much anymore but a switch lite sounds better to have..plus maybe a lil research and I can make it my retro handheld
I already have both the regular Switch that I bought in 2017 and the Switch Lite that I bought a couple of years ago. I haven't used the Switch Lite yet because I used the regular Switch mostly, but I plan to use it once it's kickstand and the plastic protection arrive. The regular switch started to have cracks at the air intakes or vents, one of the grill bars broke down. I don't know how long it will last before all the grill bars break, so I decided to use the Switch Lite once it's kickstand and the plastic protection arrive. Originally, I planned to use it once my regular Switch stops working.
I regret buying the Normal Switch I mainly use handheld it's very rare for me to use on TV or table top mode So I should have just saved money and gotten the lite I honestly feel so stupid for buying the normal switch im only use it for about 30 mins to an hour and I don't need to extra battery life great I wasted all my life saving Instead I should have gotten a cheaper Switch the Lite sigh
I'm thinking giving gaming a try and I want to get this as my first ever console due to its size, light weight, and affordable price, but I'm hesitating because based from what others from my country are saying, the switch lite will eventually have issues with its LCD which will then need to be constantly replaced. People recommend the OLED version instead but I don't know if it's worth it since it's bigger, heavier, and I don't see myself playing on the TV... Decisions, decisions...
@@theoflava876 Glad to hear your switch lite’s still serving you well! I actually bit the bullet and got the OLED. Pretty happy with it so far as what I previously said about not seeing myself playing on the TV turned out to be false. Turns out I enjoy playing fitness games with the joycons lol
You can fix joycons drift in the settings itself all switch devices have this feature called joystick calibration where you can fix it on the switch consoles without the need to replace it all the time
I’ve dropped coffee on my switch that’s the first generation of it….i cannot play handle on it anymore so now I’m thinking about upgrading at least. I might get this or just wait on switch 2 idk
I bought a new blue switch light delivered from EBay for $165. That’s the only reason I got one, otherwise was planning on waiting for Switch 2, but that is nearly 13 months away. Keep the box and keep it mint and sell it when Switch 2 comes out. Best of luck.
I guess if the OG Switch's prices start to go down now that Switch 2 is about to come out, that would be a better option than getting a Lite model. Although, it would be wise to consider that Nintendo might effectively disable those models' online features in a year or 2 after NSW2's release as with 3DS when NSW came out. I'd imagine the 6.2" versions' price going down close to Lite's price at some point. Rght now, on a local store's website, Lite is about $170 and 6.2 is about $250, with Oled version still being around $300. If Lite goes for less than $150, or 6.2 goes for less than $200, I might get one just to get a taste of Switch (I only game on PC/Laptop), even if I can only enjoy it for a year or 2.
Wonder if they will come out with an OLED switch light like they did with the original one? Also wondering what the switch 2 will be like. I like the switch very much and have a white OLED, but the only thing I don't like is that it should of had a DS slot to play your DS games I mean Nintendo has been doing that for years when they come out with a new portable console they would put a slot to fit the previous one that new one replaced. Loved my DS light because it could play old Gameboy games from GBA color, and original games. Still have it but unfortunately the charging cable and it's dead .
I just won a switch lite at my job. I play on PS5. My last nintendo hardware was my lovely gamecube. What game should i play first. I pretty much play everything
ALWAYS WANTED TO GET A SWITCH CONSOL,BUT 400USD IS TO EXPENSIVE(I GET A GAMING PC.."EXKLUDING THE GPU THAT CAN BE BOUGHT CHEAP USED INSTEAD" AND THE DIFFERENCE IS HUGE....WHAT IM TRYING TO SAY IS BUYING A NES SWITCH FOR ZELDA AND 2-3-4 OR 5 OTHER GAMES THAT ARE NOT ON PC THAT I WANT TO PLAY IS EXPENSIVE(10+ GAMES MAYBY OF INTREST EXCLUSIVE ON SWITCH) So what is a good price for these on the used market+refurbished...a good price to look for that is not to low or high?? i will only game w it connected to a tv...so screen is not most importent on it i guess!! Thanks 4 video
I would love if they had made an oled version of the lite with a better oled display screen, better thumbsticks, battery life, better ergonomics, and better memory storage. I did like the version i have but i mainly use my oled in handheld mode. But one thing about the lite compared to oled or switch version its better for on the go. Another thing i like about the lite is the position of the sd card slot which i like better than my oled as easy to pop in and out.
@@MannyRataul lol i guess i am. Switch oled was nice with it having better battery than regular one and better screen. I kind of wish they did that with the lite. But perhaps that will happen in next generation coming up. Im still curious how they will do the next switch
@@AZBCDE he's right though what the hell, if you are a hardcore gamer and mess around with the analog sticks too much like playing splatoon 3, it will drift

I have 150 Switch physical games just to let you know I'm not a hater. Anything I want to play handheld that the Switch can't handle I have my Steam Deck for it, I know a lot of people do the same, so Nintendo is missing out on that audience by making people living in 2015 with that ancient hardware.

Just a solid handheld if you liked the Vita or the PSP. I was actually considering getting a used New 3DS XL but its a no brainer. Im about to have a new born and have a 10 year old son and I tend to like to game in private. I’ve been thinking of purchasing a Switch for myself but not sure if it’s worth it or wait for the “switch 2” and witch one should I purchase ? 😅
I was forced to choose the Lite over the superior og model during COVID. After I got over the worst trauma of my life (or anyone's life for that matter) due to the joycons being inseparable from the console, I have come to truly fall in love with this console. If I'm not gaming on my PC (yes i built it and yes it's better than yours because my life is amazing) then I'm gaming on my Switch. The Switch Lite will still be worth buying even when the Switch 2 is released. They'll still develop titles for it and it'll be far cheaper. Great buy. Now I must go play my guitar (yes I built it, yes it's better than yours and yes I'm better at it than you).
I'm like, man, I really want to play breath of the wild. I figure 6 years after the release, I can probably swing a little money nintendos way. Oh, the switch lite is $200. Okay, well, that's a little overpriced, but okay. Then I go look at the games. Silly me was thinking, hey, I got $300~ I could spend on gaming. Maybe I'll get a switch lite. Nope, games are still $60+. From my understanding they practically never go on sale either. I never dl roms but I now know why people do.
yeup. Nintendo is expensive because of the games. you buy the system but then have to pour more and more money to get more and more games. That's why it makes more sense to get a hacked switch. These companies do too much. PC gaming in the long term is more cost effective because the games are way cheaper and they always have sales. You can try to emulate games on your phone if you have a flagship.
Definitely yes because once Nintendo abandons this model and focuses on the switch 2nd gen, the modding on this handheld will blow the steam deck out of the water!
@@ItzAbstract Yes but the value (price to performance) is going to be way higher than the steam deck. Right now I can buy a switch lite for $150 in good condition….
@@MannyRataul 64gb deck was around 300 and included a case (although tbf i don’t think they sell it on the site anymore). Also once you factor in the price of games (eg arkham trilogy costs £40 on switch but you can get each game for around £1 on steam deck) the difference becomes even smaller.
No matter what time of year. Its always worth it to buy a switch if you dont have one
I cant wait to buy it!! im getting it tomorrow
Does it also have iasues with joycons like drifting?
If the switch lite goes on sale after switch 2 drops to a similar price that the 2ds doorstop was sold for I might get one just to have
With the Mig switch flash carts, hell yeah it's worth it now. 😂
I tried gaming on my phone but I want to use my phone while playing and of course I lobe having actual buttons in 1 continous product.
I agree, I do not enjoy gaming on my phone as much as I do on a dedictaed gaming handheld device.
Beautiful hand-held video game console 90/100 percent.
Agreed!
i like the switch lite more then the normal or the oled one, i do not need removable joycons, i do not need to connect to TV, i do not care about screen resolutions and crazy graphic stuff like that, and i do not really like multiplayer games, i just want a small easy to carry console where i can play new nintendo games (something like 3ds but switch version). and from what i see from other people comments on reddits and twitter etc, most switch lite last so much longer without stick drift or did not get any (even with 2-3 years of heavy use) compared to the normal switch (with removable joycons where you need to buy joycons again and again bcs stick drifts)
and my hands is not big, i am quite weak, even when playing on the switch lite for to long my hand started to tire, it is so much worst when i play on the normal switch, bigger, wider and more heavier. i can only last the longest about 2 hours before i need to give my hands a break, i can play up to 4 hours on my switch lite.
so for me the obvious choice is the switch lite 100%
I got the blue one
Actually, and I believe there’s a video that backs this up, the switch lite does have a small performance upgrade over the launch model. It’s extremely minimal but worth pointing out lol
Switch is great for physical games collecting! Tons of games to get physically and play offline
I still wish Nintendo would have made a Switch Lite OLED
With a better battery. 3 hours is no good for me, 4 hours should be minimum
🎉🎉🎉
The OLED screen is also prone to issues with “burn in” so i would reccomend the switch lite for half the price
There lying I have a nintendo switch lite an it's very strong no joycon drifts and I have it two years now
@@theoflava876 Glad to hear your switch lite’s still serving you well! I actually bit the bullet and got the OLED. Pretty happy with it so far as what I previously said about not seeing myself playing on the TV turned out to be false. Turns out I enjoy playing fitness games with the joycons lol
As a college student the lite seems a lot more appealing, I’m just worried abt the stick drift
Excellent detailed review of switch lite. I just subscribed to your channel.
Hey, so I got a question. I have a life in yellow but I’m fancying a new colour. What colour should I get? Blue, Turquoise, Grey, Coral?
Personally I love the Turquoise colour
@@MannyRataul thanks, I went for the blue though instead. Already have yellow so I’ll decide when it arrives which to keep
@@MannyRataulapologies, you personally would you choose the lite over the OLED?
I wonder would they make an OLED LITE
Helpful info, thanks 👍🏼
Still love mine....as a old fart playing Zelda and Stardew
I play my gf’s all the time and I just use my reading glasses! Lol.
@@babyboy1971 lol i know What you mean
Wonder if they will come out with an OLED switch light like they did with the original one? Also wondering what the switch 2 will be like.
I like the switch very much and have a white OLED, but the only thing I don't like is that it should of had a DS slot to play your DS games I mean Nintendo has been doing that for years when they come out with a new portable console they would put a slot to fit the previous one that new one replaced. Loved my DS light because it could play old Gameboy games from GBA color, and original games. Still have it but unfortunately the charging cable and it's dead .
That would be great if they allowed you to do that
Just bought one. I don’t regret it one bit
I just won a switch lite at my job. I play on PS5. My last nintendo hardware was my lovely gamecube. What game should i play first. I pretty much play everything
Any Super Mario or Pokémon game will not disappoint you!
@@MannyRataul thanks man
ALWAYS WANTED TO GET A SWITCH CONSOL,BUT 400USD IS TO EXPENSIVE(I GET A GAMING PC.."EXKLUDING THE GPU THAT CAN BE BOUGHT CHEAP USED INSTEAD" AND THE DIFFERENCE IS HUGE....WHAT IM TRYING TO SAY IS BUYING A NES SWITCH FOR ZELDA AND 2-3-4 OR 5 OTHER GAMES THAT ARE NOT ON PC THAT I WANT TO PLAY IS EXPENSIVE(10+ GAMES MAYBY OF INTREST EXCLUSIVE ON SWITCH)
So what is a good price for these on the used market+refurbished...a good price to look for that is not to low or high??
i will only game w it connected to a tv...so screen is not most importent on it i guess!!
Thanks 4 video
A switch lite is not $400 USD lmao
Still got my lite since 2020
I would love if they had made an oled version of the lite with a better oled display screen, better thumbsticks, battery life, better ergonomics, and better memory storage. I did like the version i have but i mainly use my oled in handheld mode. But one thing about the lite compared to oled or switch version its better for on the go. Another thing i like about the lite is the position of the sd card slot which i like better than my oled as easy to pop in and out.
@@alluringming so essentially what you’re saying is that they need to make a completely new switch 😂😂
@@MannyRataul lol i guess i am. Switch oled was nice with it having better battery than regular one and better screen. I kind of wish they did that with the lite. But perhaps that will happen in next generation coming up. Im still curious how they will do the next switch
No cause of joycon drift but if you buy the hall effects joy con stick and replace them, then its definitely worth it.
Stop scaremongering, I have had my Switch for a year after it was released and I have had no problems whatsoever so stop being a CLOWN
@@AZBCDE he's right though what the hell, if you are a hardcore gamer and mess around with the analog sticks too much like playing splatoon 3, it will drift
@@koppii2had my switch since day one. no drift. Pretty sure its because of hygiene at this point.
If u like nintendo Exclusives its worth it
as a PC gamer, my Switch is collecting dust unless there's a game I have to play on it, anything 3rd party that doesn't run at 60fps is a no go for me. I have 150 Switch physical games just to let you know I'm not a hater. Anything I want to play handheld that the Switch can't handle I have my Steam Deck for it, I know a lot of people do the same, so Nintendo is missing out on that audience by making people living in 2015 with that ancient hardware.
The fact that you own 150 physical titles for switch goes against everything you just wrote 😂😂😂
@@MannyRataul not when most of them are indie and run at 60fps, the rest I buy them to collect cause I already played them on PC
Missing out on what exactly? Its poised to be the nr 1 Best selling console of all time.
I’ve had mines since 2021 but barely used it until this year I feel like trading it in to get a oled
I am giving up buying it because I have a drift problem and I cannot change the controllers. I have an oled model but I want a lite. I don't know if it will drift.
Light is pretty cheap now, used is 100eu
I had many switch lites mom buys me in the past I think it's still having a fantastic life like a hand going 😊
Is there any joy con drift after 4 years?
Just got mine and i love it.
I digress though. I dont like Nintendo's first party.... eh sorry baby games.
But there are lots of hardcore games to play and its a treasure trove for jrpg fans.
Just a solid handheld if you liked the Vita or the PSP.
I was actually considering getting a used New 3DS XL but its a no brainer.
The switch lite cost just as much
As for the form factor, i dont like how it feels.
It's super thin. Luckily, there are lots of cases for it/
I got one with the TPU/rubbery case and also doubles as a grip.
Feels so much better.
Edit: April 2024. I got to play Xenoblade 3 and BoTW.
Freaking amazing games. Nintendo rocks
Baby games. Lol.
i got a grey switch lite a week ago.. its cool but i am waiting for a homebrew scene
there already is a homebrew scene.
@@JediWebSurf yeah but its not as good yet. im waiting for Nintendo to move on to the new console and then the flood gates will open. i have a Wii and 2DSXL fully home brewed to the max i want something like that for the switch
@@slipk0rvayne17 i see.
Cool video! Can you just comment about accessories with this switch lite version? And Can you connect it to a TV and use a separate gamepads controller easily? What else can you do? Thanks
You cannot connect it to a TV unfortunately
I play my switch lite more than my OG one❤ and i have a yellow lite😅
Can the switch pro controller be connected?
..in case you get the beloved stick drift.
Yes!
It’s easy to replace the switches on this model.
No soldering required!
@@thetechrealisttrue, i did it once despite being amateur for it
Im about to have a new born and have a 10 year old son and I tend to like to game in private. I’ve been thinking of purchasing a Switch for myself but not sure if it’s worth it or wait for the “switch 2” and witch one should I purchase ? 😅
Take the lite version and save ur money for switch 2 😄
Very dramatic post
I am disappointed because the screen is too small for me, I should gave gone for the oled
I agree the screen could have been the normal switch version, but it does allow the Lite to be more compact and portable.
What's the website referenced at 5:27?
I have just got a nintendo switch lite 😅.
V1 battery life is much shorter than lite , just fyi
I’m never buy switch lite it’s not worth it I have switch oled it’s amazing play it everyday
I'm still waiting for a lite oled 😢
Resident evil 4 whilst camping ❤
I just cant bring myself to buy a console that could have stick drift and ruin it, at least when my joyvons drifted I swapped to pro controller
I love the turquoise colour
Can you make a video about the oled version pls
Its on my channel!
Does it have a good battery life?
Decent battery life, easily 2.5-3 hours
thanks
Well switch lite got terrible one issue. Lcd horizontal line is the most case in my country.
happened to me as well after 3 years of owning the lite, horizontal lines just started showing up.
3 hours is perfect for me
Definitely yes because once Nintendo abandons this model and focuses on the switch 2nd gen, the modding on this handheld will blow the steam deck out of the water!
Disagree. Switch hardware is very weak.
@@ItzAbstract Yes but the value (price to performance) is going to be way higher than the steam deck.
Right now I can buy a switch lite for $150 in good condition….
i was about to buy it but i feel like its a waste lol so im not
IMO steam deck is significantly better and only slightly more expensive, but just personal preference
The steam deck is not slightly more expensive, it is more than double the cost of the lite for the base model
Anyway I think they are probably for different audiences
Agreed! @@JohnFisherChoir
I sold my switch oled and bought steamdeck. Now i sold my steamdeck and bought a switch lite. My reason? I can`t put them in my pocket except switch lite im gonna keep this one until switch 2 arrive .
