But instead of picking a cushy desk job or following his Nobel Peace Prize-winning grandfather's footsteps, he joins the CIA and heads to Tehran where he launches the controversial Operation AJAX - a CIA and MI6 joint venture that topples Iran’s power structure and unleashes decades of chaos.

As an Iranian, Thank you for covering this.
As an American I’m disgusted and embarrassed the rich and powerful so called elite in my country plot, meddle, and destroy other nations for the benefit of themselves. This isn’t a dem/GOP phenomena either, they both do it. It’s Nauseating. So many of my countrymen are blissfully unaware and will belligerently argue against facts of history.
I can imagine. The US and their constant claims of being the best country in the world is as sickening as it is laughable. Now they have the perfect placeholder as a prime example of their greed for power and money
You are not disgusted about foreign interference in your nation's affairs? As I am? The purpose was to siphon Iranian funds to American leadership. They are a bunch of naga! World rulers are messing with Iranians because you are a Semitic group like the Hebrews. World leaders are Japhetite and Hamite. A mixture. Not from Adam. mhmm
My hope is one day we will be friendly with each other.America
From a fan of Bedtime Stories, to Wartime Stories, to the Redacted Podcast, to now Redacted videos. First off the production for this channel is immaculate. Second, Luke you’re the man keep doing what you do!
America is basically the Spider-Man pointing meme. We're our own worst enemy.
CIA was always nasty; always a paramilitary arm of the Deep State. Upper levels knew; lower level employees did not know.
No. Humanity's worst enemy. One needs only to look at the gaza strip.
@@petergeh9584 Americans like to cheapen their 3vil $hit.
@@petergeh9584nope
USA is biggest terrorist of our era
Please give us ONE example of the Central Intelligence Agency EVER doing ANYTHING for the benefit of EVERY American and not just for the
"Special Interests" or "1% er's"?
Protecting the business interests of the rich and powerful has ALWAYS been their number one priority!
100% thats why they offed JFK and many others who conveyed a message of compassion and peace
We all know who that 1% is...
They wear little circle hats
From what you say I'll assume you do not ascribe to trickle down? There is an arguable benefit to every American to keep and build the power of the USA, or rather, the core structure of the USA which is often referred to in part as the military industrial complex. It's not that complicated, it's basically making it so that in comparative terms most Americans are 'richer' than other world populations. You may not agree with it being as important as many people in power see it as, but for example buying a brand new iphone is more realistic for a greater portion of the US population than it is for the population of most other countries.
Sure, business interests as such do not perhaps make most people happy, but the fact is that the money being emanated from the MIC trickles down through the whole US economy and in doing so they lift the economic station of most everyone else. So in that sense the CIA does do things for the benefit of every or almost every American.
Stuff relating to what is being spoken of here did affect oil prices worldwide for example. The US is in a better position than most of the world is in relation to the oil price in the sense that the US has oil reserves and wells, and therefore has access to oil that is not controlled by someone else. So, the size alone of the US economy is to a great benefit for all those who take part in it, although it does have negative side effects in the sense that some things become a lot more expensive, so for example the kilo price of apples or potatoes or whatever are higher in the US than anywhere else except maybe western Europe and some specific Asian countries.
But anyway, to put it in simple terms, the average income in the US would buy more gasoline, potatoes or iphones than the average income in most of the world. There are countries with higher average income by a little bit than the US, but in those countries the money they get buys less gasoline, potatoes or iphones because the prices of those things are higher in comparison than the income is.
- And before you start having smoke come out of your ears, I'm not American, I have never been to the USA. I do have American friends though, and used to work for an American company.
Same goes for the mainstream media in North America including Canada these days
@@noth606wow just look at u go for that boot. Taste any good?

@@Music-p1y it's Luke's voice, and he hires artists. Not everything is AI
@@Music-p1yAI? You clearly don't know about this channel or the channels tied to Ballen Studios. The narrator of this is Luke Lamana, who also narrates the channel Wartime Stories, which is also part of Ballen Studios. Being on Wartime Stories, you actually see him, he's definitely not AI.

I have read about and seen no less than 5 documentaries dedicated to this specific topic. Most around this length, some a little longer, some a little shorter. Your video, in my opinion, provided hands down the most easily digestible straight forward summary, timeline, relationships, and requisite ancillary information. Of course there is a lot of additional information you could have included, but this condensed story format with catchy but not flashy graphics really gave me the best understanding of any of the other resources I have viewed.
Thank you for the good work and I wish you and your team well on future projects.
Just diving into this series guys and I have to mention that the indigo blue/ultramarine shades are very pleasant to the eye. Depending on the story at hand, other colours may be more appropriate, but this is an excellent choice.
So we made the right choice color wise?
@@redactedmysteriesI'll answer first and say yes.
YES, DRILL SARGEANT!!
Just needs an awesome Sound and Fury/Sturgill Simpson-esque intro ! That would scream!
@@redactedmysteriesyes definitely
Ah and almost 30 years ago i had to go to college, take a class from an advisor for Nixon, read books, now i can just see a youtube video
Yet isn't the value of such a class + said books so much more than that of 1 video?
Lazy.
YeahhhhNOOO. That’s a stretch and a reach 10:09 . Those classes, books read, papers written and Nixon advisor/ professor all went to getting your degree. As did mine. You can’t get a degree from watching TH-cam videos. No matter how often or many. Nor should you. I know, I know, your generation was and still is the greatest, hardest working, smartest etc….yeah don’t be a boomer 2.0. Not a good look.
@@paulmeredith4515 at least he's not like the guy telling me he learned about cia coups in elementary school
@@paulmeredith4515 I attained both of my degrees before the internet. The dedication, perseverance , research etc required is, as you know, actually endless. Of course it would have been incredibly helpful to be able to use Google and see certain You Tube videos. However, with each of my degrees being for a specific career in Professions Allied to Medicine the most important part of the degrees could only be learnt by actually working in a real hospital setting. So the first one was unpaid, with a grant based on your parent's finances full time supervised 9 to 5 supposedly supernumerary job combined with an equal amount of classroom time for 3 years with 6 weeks holiday per year!!? This however, enabled you to be totally confident and fit enough to walk straight into a job, able to cope with any situation. Anyway a big part of university is the social life and making friends for life.
All of which leads me to firmly believe that this comment by @andyvega5584 was made totally tongue in cheek! 😜😅
Heck yeah! Been waiting for this channel to start on TH-cam! Thanks y'all!
Right?? Welcome!
Anyone else picture Kermit the frog throughout this? 😆
Seriously, though, great video. I love the animation.
I'm so glad you said this 😂 I wonder if he was sitting on a log in the woods as well 🤣
The entire time....with "it ain't easy being green" repeating in my head.
I love this, I just watched your other channel Wartime Stories, thats where i heard about this channel so I am here. From South Africa.
Welcome!!
I used to put my earbuds in and listen to strange dark and mysterious back when it was 3,4, even 5 times a week. I tried the podcasts but it wasn’t for me. The cartoons make it top notch! You’re gonna see a lot of copycats. This is gonna blow up. Accurate information portrayed with cartoon visuals like this will be used in classrooms, watched in free time, it’s the perfect blend and length time wise to fit most scenarios. I love it.
I was so dissappointed with the mr ballen podcast. I thought it was gonna be, ya know, a podcast. Not a rebroadcast
Same.
This is dope🔥🔥💯💯.....
The animation is beautiful
Yo, thanks!
Thank you so much for this channel Luke. This is 1 mystery I can now say wow!! I often wondered how all this started.

Loving redacted. Story telling perfect. Narration perfect. Animation perfect. Duration perfect. Just perfect! Thank you.
God the US can be despicable. We should stop our incessant meddling in other countries' affairs. JFC!
This is exactly why the U.S. government has no business interfering with other countries, CIA or any other agency. It all comes down to greed. Follow the money. 😢
Yep typical clowns in action who's only goal was going around and creating forever wars after the death of JFK, so that only they could fix the problem, that they created, with taxpayers money and the lives of Americans of course .
Fab episode, delighted ye started putting Redacted on TH-cam 🎉 Really fascinating episodes! Keep up the good work, God bless from Ireland 🇮🇪 💚

@@redactedmysteriesYes it’s really amazing! I love this! It’s my new favorite on TH-cam! ❤
Luke, this was amazing! Kudos to you and your team. The only thing that kind of threw me was, some of the cars and trucks from earlier dramatizations in the video didn't seem to match the time frame. I was like, did he say, "1953 or 1983?" Not a big deal, but just something I noticed. You guys are doing amazing work! This was so well researched, and I very much appreciate that! I look forward to seeing more of your videos! Great job!
CIA 👿 was behind both over throws.

Personally, the story reminds me of a quote that I read in Charles Stross The Laundry Files: every time an spy got involved in politics, It always ends up in tears.

Who knew the Kermit was CIA. Here we all were thinking he was a muppet. Oh wait, he was, because you'd need to be a muppet to create the awful mess he did. I'm sure the former president is most certainly spinning in his grave and is not at all proud of what Kermit did.

This is awesome. My daughter is a high school senior and will head to Texas A&M University in the fall where she has been accepted into their visualization (animation) program. She is a rare breed- very smart and does well in computer science, calculus, and physics among other things. However, at least in my opinion, her real
talent and passion lies in the art that makes the animation worth watching. A project like this is exactly why she wants work in animation.
