- Amazing Z50k1 transformations! From piles of parts, back to 1969 off the showroom floor. You won't believe these are the same bikes. Enjoy!
I was determined to make these look like new again and didn't stop until they did. Countless hours and late nights, I can say I am satisfied.
These are entered in the Pryme MX bike build contest and the Red one made the top 20! If you could go vote for me that would be great.

Hearing them run is music to my ears. This is the same model and year of mini bike I started on when I was six years old. Ours was red. Pure joy.
Same here.. I'm 52 and that was my first bike when I was 7. then I got a trail 70, and then a YZ80 and so on.. but that was and still is my favorite bike, with the 70 running a close second. This guy is awesome restoring those bikes, and what an awesome job!!

mine was yellow I was about 6 or 7 too
absolutely AWWWsome!!!!
I have the identical blue and silver 69, I did a complete resto 20 years ago. It turned out awesome and about 2 weeks after I finished it, I showed it at Make A Wish and turned down 5K for it. I am freshening up the resto right now and will be repainting the wheels, and polishing and cleaning the whole bike. The local Cops always smile and wave when they see my 230 lb butt riding it on local streets. You did an awesome job!
Greetings from Texas! My hat is off to you sir! You don't see many complete rebuild/restorations with quality like that. Very nicely done. I really like the attention to detail. It shows your skill and determination to do it right.
Thank you Mike! These were really fun projects and I worked hard to make sure they were done correctly. Thank you for watching
I still remember running straight into a chair link fence with my 68 z50 mini trail. That was in 1969 when I was six years old. Still riding but fences are in less danger these days.
I got bit by a German shepherd when I was kid while I was riding mine
Very nice bikes, great job ! I just finished a blue one and a red one. I used as many OEM Honda parts as I could locate. Been restoring them for 40+ years, mostly 69-71. Likely never stop.
Amazing restoration mate. I had a red one as my first bike as a young kid, used to still ride it to high school back in the 80's. Fitted the 70cc top end on it and had endless fun.
Thank you! That’s awesome I bet lots of good memories on that bike
Very nice job. You show pride in your bikes I am just starting the same two you show. Good work
Wonderful job! Two thumbs up! Not even Mother Honda was so perfect!
Thank you!
cool content,i had a z50 as a kid ,just bought the same bike back after 20 years and in process of restoring it with first thing im doing is rebuilding the top end piston, rings and a new bore!
A pair of dream bikes there... I'll be happy if I can get my red '69 looking half as good as yours. Very nice work!
Thank you I appreciate that!
So iconic. Great job restoring them.
🙂👍
Beautiful restorations, they never looked this good when new.
Thank you! I was very happy with the final results.
Just came across video. Great job the bikes look great. I have restored several of these as well. There is actualy more detail in the Z-50,s then the CT-70 bikes.
Beautiful mate...........
And that's just you
Awesome job. So good to see Honda engines being put back in. So often so called Z50 restorations have crappy Chinese engines put in them.
Any moans about the paint not being original are ridiculous. The pre restoration bikes were beyond keeping original and you did a brilliant job. Superb attention to detail.
Your customer must have been delighted.
Thank you for your time and effort putting this video together.
Thank you! Not sure on the paint just worked with what I had to make them like new again!
Nice work . I bought one new in 1969 for $215.00 from a Harley Davidson dealership in Racine Wisconsin. Now live in Australia!
ONE WORD FOR THIS GUY " GENIUS "
You have a very special talent. What a beautiful job.
Thank you!
Amazing job! I just got a 74
That was awesome 👌 great job man. Would love to have you as a teacher. Thanks for such a great video
Thank you! I appreciate hearing that
I LEARNED TO RIDE ON THESE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND IM 54 NOW !!!!
Absolutely amazing once again. I hope more people get to see your capabilities. If you aren't already then you will certainly be extremely successful in business with this level of skills
You are a Bad Ass. Incredible Job
Thank you!
@@Fischer927 hey Michael how much was it for all the vapor blasting
Beautiful work !!
Thank you!
I had a yellow one, 1970 I believe. Eventually broke the frame jumping it.
Got a 70cc Head and Piston and a lifted cam. Made a down pipe out of a stingray handlebar and added flatbars to make a mini cafe racer.
Awesome job man and nice vid!!
Bobby Coker Thanks Bobby!
Very cool!
Hey Michael, my sons first bike is monkey, he’s 25 now and I’m about to restore it for his (future) kids. I’m hopeless with that sort of thing have called in the help of a mate who’s the head mechanic at our local Harley dealer, he’s also rebuilt one of my previous bikes after a pretty bad accident. It came back better than new. I’m hoping he does the same quality job as yours cos there’s a lot of emotional attachment to these little machines. Great vid mate. Sydney Australia.
iamthebroker hope you have the turnout you are expecting! Very cool little bikes👍
hi man, good job and I wanted to know on which site you found all the parts because I am looking for a plate holder but I cannot find any anywhere. thank you 🔥
You are very talented idk know how this doesn’t have hundreds of thousands of views and likes
Thank you! Not sure on the views probably.becauase not many followers.
Beautiful work. I just bought my first one and looking for information to do exactly what you did. Never have built one before so big learning curve. Any online resources or parts places you recommend would be greatly appreciated. I will also be adding to my youtube channel the build process. Currently right now I have vintage airplanes and VW's on there come check it out. Thanks
Sorry for such a delay! A big help for me was finding oem parts diagrams and then going through each part of the bike individually to see what was missing or needed replaced. Was tedious but made sure nothing was missed. Hope that helps a bit!
amazing perfection bro where did you get all the new parts? dam rediculously perfect!
Thank you! I did lots of searching on eBay, TBparts, Phatmx, CHP motorsports, and then I restored a lot working with plating companies to save chrome components and such.
MICHAEL THATS THE BEST BEST !!!!!
Thank you!
My grandpa bought me a new one. I think it was a '68. They came in red, blue, and yellow I had a red one. I was 5. Good Times !!!! I installed a piece of carpet on the gas tank and my dog held on to the bars.
well done
I loved mine when I was 11
All that's missing is a yellow one...
Great work! muzik was not necessary . Thanks for the video.
My Dad bought me a new red one for $283 Cdn in 71-72 ish, very lucky kid.
They came out sweet.how much did you put into each bike to get them like thst
Where can I get that stencil?
Thanks Vince
I found it on eBay

Best young man or young woman adventure toy!!!
Great job....but why are both headlights pointing up in the sky? 🙂
15:21 Honda wings being put on backwards. Looks like it was figured out though. You just need another one in yellow.
Had it figured out within minutes and switched it. Just didn’t re film it. I built these for a customer and he is ready for me to do a yellow one as well!
Where do u get the parts
Thanks for the Video. You are awesome! Just wanna know how much in the market that kind of restoration? Do you do this as a hobby? Stay safe, God bless!
There is a market for it out there! I have had numerous people interested from just this video. I do this as a hobby. I had a friend of mine interested so I did these for him.
@@Fischer927 10,000 for both? or more?
Wow that is a world class restoration! Great work and thanks for the video. What happened to the bikes do you still have them?
Thank you! I built them for another guy so not mine.
Where did you get the stands?
Where are you located? I need to find someone who can help me with my 1969 Z-50.
I’m in Omaha Nebraska 👍
Can I buy one of yours?
You did an amazing job everything looks great I hate to say it but you’re running the wrong tail light brackets those are for the 1970-71 Ak2 model . Also the 1969 Ak1 model came with black nylon brake levers. Not trying to offend you but I’ve done quite a few of these over the years. Plus I grew up with them I was in first grade when I got my first one back in 1969. Once again you did a great job
my good sir I just got a 74 whats the correct model as I wish to street plate mine.
Huh, maybe my memory is not so good but I had one in 1969 and so did many of my friends. Our levers were steel. But I think uni and Preston petty made plastic replacements. I also remember the grips being white and made of plastic.
I’d like to buy one from you is that possible?
The Honda 50 was a nice first bike , but at 11 I still looked like I was riding a toddlers bike .
Do you do customer restorations? Price?
can you tell me how long this took you?
Started at the beginning of January, had them finished Mid may.
I want to do a restoration to mine as well. What type of gas is using? regular gasoline or gasoline with oil?
4 cycle
Are they for sale?
Sorry no, I built these for somebody else. I do not own them.
Tank badges on the red bike are on wrong..
Thanks for pointing out👍 it is fixed. Check out the end of the video for the final reveals
i love you
Those aren’t considered original though are they?
Not sure lol. Just had someone ask me to make them look new again so I did that with what I could find available to me.
What’s dis you pay for everything to restore it without the price of the bike ?
.... лучше бы конечно на мокик поставил движок от скутера с вариатором, красного цвета мокик мне больше понравился 🛵🚲🏍️🛴🛠️⚙️🔩🔗📎👌🆗🇷🇺👈👍👍👍🤓!!!
Looks great. The repainting part are the frame and tank pained me because the original paint is gone. So value lost but it’s your bike not mine
Had the blue one in the 80’s, paid $40 for it and rode it like crazy. Went away for summer and older cousin blew the engine on it🥲
