  • Phew. What a couple of weeks. It's been massive really, moving studio; but I'm in the new place and I'm delighted.
As soon as I saw the new space I resolved to do more credit to my paintings and think about how I could show them off better. Join me as I declutter, streamline and paint everything white!
Thanks so much to John, Victor, Theo, Arthur and Gary for helping me with the move.

Thanks for bringing us along Benmo! You should paint the OSB + 2x4's and keep the 2x4 as 'shelves' - you'd be able to keep the white look and somewhere to put your 'products'; framing your studio.

It’s so bright in the new studio, that should hopefully help with your overall fatigue levels. I know how much difference the light makes to me. The display wall is brilliant, the natural colour works with all the paintings whatever the frame colour, or even no frames.

Yes, I'm very optimistic about the light - I was down there last night at about 6pm and it was absolutely bathed in light - our house is essentially in shadow by that time.

So happy to see you’re grabbing onto your new creative space with enthusiasm and vision! You’ll like the look of your spray-painted studio objects exponentially better after you spray a second coat. One coat never quite does the job.

A brilliant space. I love the partition wall and shelves👌🏼. Leaving them as they are, gives your studio a nod to your old one, and makes your painting pop. Enjoy this new stage, exciting 👏🏼🥂

When the video cut to you at your new workstation, my heart smiled!! This has been such a blessing in disguise, right ?! Previous studio was good to you, but looking back, we can see how oppressive the atmosphere was. Watching you set up your paintings in a light- filled space was such fun.

Well done with getting all of that done. As someone who has ME myself I’m sure it was no easy task. 🐝
It looks such a lovely bright space.

The possibilities… I like the idea of complementing the red bricks with a dark grey/green, like HEX: #383E3C. That would really make your paintings stand out, and maybe neutralize any lighting shifts from the red brick. There’s bouncing the light back into the room with white, but if the other wall is white you might not need that extra light. There’s two tone, keep them blond or paint/stain the studs, perhaps fabric for the back panels-reduce resonating noises at the same time. I can’t wait to see what you came up with. I feel your fatigue, going through it myself, it’s frustrating, but look at what you’ve accomplished despite the additional challenges-every day is going above and beyond for you. You’re rocking it! 😘

If you can get hold of a shop vac and the adaptor piece you can create a very basic dust collector for your big tools. It cuts WAY down on the dust. There are various utubes showing how to and how adding a 5 gallon bucket adds to the system. My shop vac fits right on my table saw, needed an adapter for the chop saw.

I've been so looking forward to a new studio video and it was worth waiting for, what a great space you've done a lovely job on it.your paintings look great displayed on the partition wall, hard to say if it should be white or not but you have to live in a place before you make decisions about stuff. It's all very exciting a real boost to your health. Have a great week.

Pretty space, I like the 2x4 as shelves at least for now.. I think if you if you gave everything a good coat of white paint it would look cleaner and make the paintings stand out more to be seen more readily. Paint needs at least two (maybe three) coats, otherwise it looks streeky. If ya want the furniture to look old, you could always sand in places. Ben, moving is alot of hard work and a mental change that too is exhausting. Take your time, enjoy your space.. it will all come together. I love the light.. God bless and be healthy. I think the new space will help.👍👏🙌🙏

I love the separation wall, lots of shelves! Maybe you can paint it white to fit with the rest of your furniture, but I also like the wood colour. Take your time to think about it, no pressure. Congrats!

Hi Ben, I really love your paintings. Have you got a website or anywhere online where you sell them? It would be great if you did because you’d probably sell quite a few what with your TH-cam channel giving more people the chance to see your work. Also you won’t have to pay the commission charges. It’s nice to be able to do both galleries and your own website I should think.

Hi Julie, I do have a website - www.benmo.info - although it is quite a rudimentary one! I'm hoping to upgrade it in time for the exhibition and improve the shop section too - not least so I can start selling cards. It's lovely to know that you enjoy the paintings. Thanks for being in touch!

I've just gone my first, not in the home, studio. It is very small and I don't know how long it will last (the building is being sold) but I just love it. And I like the natural wood. You could always just give it a white wash.

Oh that's great news Eileen - enjoy it! I think the temporary nature of these spaces is probably part of the artist's life!

@@BenmoTheArtist Yes they usually are temporary. I just love the light in the building I'm in with all of the skylights. I intend to enjoy it as much as possible while it lasts.
