    Have you got an update on what they look like now and how they’ve held up?

    hello. did you "hammer" these into the existing ground so they are flush with the rest of the turf or did you leave them raised?

    Why didn't you make some footage showing the grass before, then another clip as you're installing the tiles?

    and. you install it upside down, i.e. the hollow side down, and the based end up? then filled with dirt so there's minimal risk of breaking the based end that is up?

    Hi! Thanks for your video. I am looking for a solution for my muddy lawn and I wonder how is your path overwintering? Can you still use it? Don't those slates sink into mud and eventually disappear? This is a lot of questions :) Thanks

    • @DanielJohnHowTo
      @DanielJohnHowTo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the path is holding up very well, not sinking and working exactly as we wanted it to even during this current uk winter snow/ice etc.

      They aren't slippy in the wet, and will work for you on your lawn we did the same thanks.

    Worth digging where you want to lay it so it is flush with the ground?

    • @DanielJohnHowTo
      @DanielJohnHowTo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can do, even on slightly uneven ground it stays together and once the grass grows doesn't really move thanks. we are using this stuff because in the winter our grass gets ruined.

      i've actually seen a video on youtube where they have laid a load of these in a field, (presumably for a car parking area or something), and they are using a ride on roller to push them into the ground so they are flush with the soil. on a smaller scale, i'm thinking i could put some boards over the top, when the ground is wet, and then walk over the boards to push them into the ground.

    Hate to say it, but they’re upside down 😳.
    Contractors lay these on a 2 to 3 inch bed of compacted sub base first, then lay turf on top. Once the turf is on they go over it with a road roller which squashes the turf into the gaps. Then collect the scraps and hey presto instant hard standing lawn, which can be driven on straight away. Or fill with gravel (not pee shingle) and compact/vibrate down- result. Instant drive where the gravel stays put and doesn’t move about. A great product but needs to be the right way up for the best results

    • @DanielJohnHowTo
      @DanielJohnHowTo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes they are, we didn't want to fill them with gravel but instead use them as a raised walkway and let the grass grow+knit them together. Our small dogs and gravel isn't a good mix, they pick it up.

    • @MissSixtiesPennyLane
      @MissSixtiesPennyLane ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The company that sells them actually states you can put them upside down onto grass

  • @marton349
    @marton349 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    They are upside down. The whole point is they fill up with soil or gravel and it all strengthens up. This wont work the correct way as you are struggling to fill it. Therefore creating voids. plus they are coming apart as you walk on them.

    • @DanielJohnHowTo
      @DanielJohnHowTo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes you are correct, however we wanted to use them like that because of dogs eating the gravel so that's the reason why.

    • @DanielJohnHowTo
      @DanielJohnHowTo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wise_guy_reviews yes you can do, we filled it with soil and grass seed so it matched the existing lawn as much as possible and now it's all grown they are study and knitted together.

      Yes they are upside down

    • @robbi1b1
      @robbi1b1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bryan8104 no, right way up, the idea is they push into the ground to go down level. you could put them the other way up, and fill the cells with gravel or whatever but it would be raised above ground.
