I did exactly the same with our front lawn 2 years ago the gravel grids are holding up well we use it now as a turning area for our cars and they are holding up very well and the gravel stays in the cells and doesn't end up all over the driveway 👍
@Marc.Vanguard nope, none at all before i laid the gravel grids, I laid a membrane down 2 courses in opposite directions and pinned the membrane down and then set the gravel grids on top.
I would of put them grid's down first then ordered the decorative stone, and got the guy to drop the bags on top of the grids spaced out 3rd of the grid each bag. Then just cut them open would be easier than hand balling with shovals cand wheel barrows. Aside from that you did a great job's, saved yourself paying tradesmen.

Thanks for the video. Great help. Planning a new bespoke shed build in 2025 and I am looking at using these plastic grids and pea shingle as the base. I am thinking it will be way cheaper and a lot less grief than putting a concrete base down.
Looks 1000x better and very smart. I honestly don't know where you find the time to fit everything in! 😂 Ps your link to the bark is the same one as for the posts. 👍
Your video is the most useful and inspiring out of all i watched so far. I am a tiny person and a single mom who is trying to do the same project as yours & diy around the house myself as i can't afford to pay trademen. I have noticed a long wood slab you used on one of the edge, where can i get that and how to lay it down please? So that gravels don't go to my neighbour's side. Thank you very much in advance

hey, inspiring video. I'm planning a similar project for this August and hopefully my toddles will help me as well :) SIlly question: you mention you dug 30mm....but most sub-base suppliers recommend a 100mm sub-base depth for a driveway...I'm guessing all they want is to sell more material ? O_O

Is this work if i want to keep grass? Remove existing soil. Then install the plastic grid. Then install soil again with grass seed. Will this work?
You will need to use hardcore under then fill with soil and grass seed, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@aaanton11 thank you for your advice😁
Fantastic video! How far did you dig down from the finished level?
14 inches, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

@aaanton11 Hi again mate you've really inspired me with this. I'm thinking off doing the same. Will this be okay for my cars to go on ?

30cm not mm dug out, 25cm sub base and 5cm grid mat and gravel, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Would have been nice to know the cost and why you drove a lawnmower or snowblower or whatever that was over it. Looks nice though.
It was a Wacker Plate, which pounds down the ground to give a solid surface, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Does it matter what size gravel you use?
any as long is it fits in the mat, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@@aaanton11 can gravel be used as a sub base instead of sand?
I think it would be best to use 15 to 20 mill gravel because any smaller gravel would get stuck in the tyre tread and drop it off on the road.
How much did it cost you all in?
all the prices and links are in the video description, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I get you've put the idea Amazon prices but when you added it all up how much did the whole project cost you
How the weeds?
No weeds yet, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Should of got the grid down first, then you could of got the bags of gravel put straight on top and then just cut the bags open. 👍🏻
Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
How much does the Matt grid cost
Plastic Interlocking Mat £10 per square metre, amazon Link is amzn.to/479d24L Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
didn't go deep enough with the matting its showing through needed to be at least 25mm deeper
Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Why not drag the bag to the park area ?
It was too heavy Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

Update us please if you dont mine and tag me
Drive still looks great, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
The grids are 50cm sq How many grids will I needed for 5.5 x 6.7 metre space?? I can’t work it out
Four grids per square metre.
5.5 metres would be 11 grids (or 12 to be safe).
6.7 metres would be 14 grids.
So 11 or 12 x 14
Thanks Ian for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
