YES DUDEEE I’ve been waiting for a solid vocal analysis on Benson for awhile and I’m glad you made one! Been trying to figure out his technique for about a year now and there are still a ton of things I learned from this video. Fantastic job 👏👏

🤯 I was half expecting him to be beamed off the stage to an awaiting space ship taking him back to his home planet because… damn!!! He just does not seem of this world. Yet, you are still able to skillful dissect what he does and unveil at least some of the magic to help us understand and learn. Great analysis!

I have a bad habit of immediately dismissing vocalists because I don't like the songs. Thanks Chris for opening my eyes, or ears rather, to some great vocals I would normally not notice.

Exactly. Thats why i watch alot of vocal coaches / vocalists reacting to different singers. It may not be the kind of song I enjoy but I can always learn something from analysis of the reactors that I can maybe implement in my own singing under the shower ^^

I never noticed the compression he is using, gives him that power to make the vocal big and bold😊

Mate! I wanted a breakdown of this song as I kinda took on the challenge of learning it. I searched it followed by your name, and you uploaded it yesterday! What are the chances!
Side note, I cannot begin to tell you how much watching your videos has transformed my vocal abilities and what I thought was possible with my voice. Thank you.
Second side note (sorry), would love to see a vocal analysis of Missing You by John Waite from the 80’s

Enjoyed hearing your expertise on this. Benson was amazing when I saw him live last year. Flips, tons of energy and stellar vocals. Oh and he randomly spotted a high school ex girlfriend in the crowd 😂

There was an old Motown Trick where they would intentionally key up songs in the studio to get the singers to push and reach a little bit.

I'd heard this song in a grocery store or something somewhere and thought for being a pop song, the vocals were impressive and edgy. I really liked it but never knew the artist. I remember Rick beato not vibing with it and being surprised

The reason it was a key down might be because he was performing a lot around that time so he had to maintain his vocals
He normally would perform in the normal key

Great analysis. My vocal range is pretty dope, I can definitely get up to those high notes, but I‘m struggling with properly mixing chest and head voice to get some power. Your approach helps a lot. I‘ll check out your online course for sure!

Chris, your videos are amazing, and a teacher with a great level like you reacting to so many great artists like Bruno Mars, Ado (and so many others), and analyzing and explaining all the techniques, is SO NECESSARY and helpful.
I recommend you to listen "Us" by Aimer in live version, is a very beautiful song, and is produced by TK (the one who have produced Unravel).
Thanks for your videos, every video was very useful for me and I've learned so much and get better with my voice.
Greetings from Argentina and sorry for my bad English 🫶

Hey Chris! You should react to Ado’s Live Performance of Dignity. I know you did the studio version-but the live is so worth it! The music is drowned out quite a bit and displays her pure vocals compared to most lives and studio.

  • @GoddaryuTUBE
    @GoddaryuTUBE 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

That flip to singing is def backing track and him turned right down for that section.
Watch it slowly and he starts singing before he even finishes landing the flip which anyone who has done flips on solid ground before (trickers etc) will tell you that is impossible to start talking(let alone belting) as your landing without your voice starting weak because you just held your breath and flexed your entire core to do the flip, then having an "OOOF" effect in the voice as you land because absorbing the impact makes you release the tensed muscles and your breath.
I mean just go to a small ledge and hold a single note AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA and jump off and see how you voice changes as you land absorbing the small impact, now amplify that with rotational force and more time in the air.
