Italy was my favorite overseas assignment My little girl was two when we went over, and 6 when we came back. I remember her very clearly telling me “I want to go back to Italy”. I cried flying over to Italy and cried never wanting to leave.
I had the time of my life as a single airman at Aviano in the mid-1980s. Of course, this was before the internet, cell phones, and we had only 1 AFN channel we could pick up with a regular TV and an antenna. We'd get all the popular shows on the major American networks, but they'd all be one season behind. Because of the time difference any live broadcast were delayed by 7 to 8 hours. It was the best assignment!
That's pretty ironic on the driving part, because I have a funny story on that! I was driving my Fiat up to Lago Barcis one fine summer day and the cars were lined up on both sides of the street, so I waited for a car to pass before I kept going, so this guy decides to come down the road at the same time and I'm like there's not enough room for both of us, but his car was smaller so I thought we might be ok , I can't go anywhere but forward anyway, and as we're passing each other I hear a smack😂 so I go to look in my drivers side mirror and it was folded back so I look in my rearview mirror and his drivers side mirror is spinning around in the middle of the road😝 and he's out of his car throwing his hands up and shouting, and I was like to bad buddy, you should have waited your turn! So I drove like an Italian and didn't even know it🤪 we just kept rolling😎
@@jessicab4303 any brand will do! We got ours from Target before we left, in the travel section. Just be sure that it’s labeled for ‘Europe’. Different countries have different types of plugs. If you can’t get any before you leave the states don’t worry, they have them at the BX here!
Me watching this intently as if I’m moving there 😂 also Hawaii is the same when it comes to cars it’s so cramped there with parking and drivers are very aggressive.
I don’t know anything about Hawaii so I’m super excited to continue to follow along your journey over there! If there’s significant differences you should do this same style video! ☺️
@@brittanyyycampbelll I think I will! Culture is way different on the island as I'm sure it is in Italy! Our first time there was an adjustment so I'm hoping this time around it'll be smoother.
Hi Brittany i live in aviano. Nobody are the same!!!! Stop to say that all italian do the same thing!!!! I ve been in USA for 2 years if you want i can tell you how many wrong thing i found there!!!!

We’re here for 4 years as well! I’m very interested to see how we feel when it comes time for us to leave

Was stationed there 96-99. Miss it. Hope you’re enjoying it.
we are moving there in may! super excited! What about phone services? how do you switch over? can you get unlimited phone plans?
The one thing I wish I had known was how much I was going to love being there! I would have made more of an effort to stay there permanently 😝
My husbands in Tech School and we just found out Aviano is gonna be our first duty station! I’m super nervous!
Awwhh, yay!! Congratulations 🥳
Love this video, also loved the cleaning ones, I'm in Sardinia🥰 And yep I can relate😂
Thank you so much for being here💛 I have a cleaning video coming up soon!☺️
Great advice!! I definitely don’t miss driving there 😆
Oh my gosh!! You know how intense it can be🥴
This is funny. Me and my husband have been stationed at Eglin, and we’re fixing to move to Aviano in August 🤣
Ahhh! How cool! We were at Eglin from 2016-2021

Now this is SO funny!! I hear stories about side view mirrors flying off all the time🤣🤣
If a hair dryer is dual voltage can I plug it straight into the wall without a converter?
No, you will need an adaptor! You’ll use a transformer for things that are NOT dual voltage. Does that make sense?☺️
@@brittanyyycampbelll yes thank you! Do you know what brand of adapter is best?

Can you do a video about bringing your dog
Hahah! Italians in my opinion care a lot about the car. But the problem is many of them aren't good drivers

What is PCSing
Permanent change of station, when you get sent from one base to another.
By the way... how's your italian?😊
Did they tell y’all about being lollipoped ?
Yes!!!!🥴 Hasn’t happened yet but I know it will eventually! I’ll definitely have to include that in Part 2
Don't forget to use mayonnaise instead of ketchup with your fries or pommes frites😛
Don’t ditch your stuff.. keep it. You’ll need it when you go back to the states. Store it. Just keep it stored away. You will not live there forever.
What is your husbands job that he does in the Air Force?
