@@ThriftStoreBibles that's always hard book to translate well in modern language. Personally, I have a difficult time reading badly translated psalms. It's like they suck the beauty right out of them.
@@rachelkarslake7787 I'm sure there is much I miss as someone who doesn't read Hebrew. I've mostly used the Coverdale Psalter and the ESV. Which translations do you like for the Psalms?
@ThriftStoreBibles my Hebrew is rotten! (My daughters are much better with the language.) I prefer an older Tanakh edition (much like the KJV), Coverdale, or KJV (even NKJV). The translators did well with keeping the meaning and diction in all three. The RSV family of translations are the worst for poetry (in my opinion). The overuse of "steadfast love" is like nails on a chalkboard to me. 😂

I forget where I found it, but I saw a suggestion for Psalm 136 to say "For his love has no end" which is 6 syllables like the Hebrew instead of "For his steadfast love endures forever" which is 10! I've done that as I find it very cumbersome to repeat the longer phrase which I know from the ESV.
That's a handsome Bible, for sure.
The CSB is another version i should really give a fair chance.

I have never read the CSB version. I should read it someday.
I've liked the CSB quite well so far. It will be interesting to see how the translation does with the Psalms.
