cause i didn't found an information anywhere else i asked chatgpt and here is the answer for other people looking for it: For your 2012 Sherco ST290, the recommended fork oil volumes are: Left Fork Leg (Spring Side): 385 ml of high-quality 5W fork oil. Right Fork Leg (Damper Side): 370 ml of high-quality 5W fork oil. good video! helps too!
@ no probs thank you, anyway chatgpt also threw your video out next to text what means you did really good job on the keywords for sure :D cheers! (found the video before that anyway)
Too thick or too thin? If former I would definitely rebuild the water pump & replace seal. That coffee was in the gearbox for a reason. Change the oil again soon in any case & rinse w deisel.
That sherco definitely needed that service / overhaul badly !! The fork oil was bad I bet it smelt terrible always the worst smell of any oil !!! And the rear linkage Etc was badly needing greased . Should feel a who!e lot better after this .Gear oil looks like something's not right there at all !!!😮or really never been changed .😁 but great work see how it lasts .👍👍
Hi great video but I noticed you put the plastic spacers in the wrong order in the fork the plain circle one goes in first then the tapered one last so the compression adjuster has something to press against
Oh, thank you for pointing that out! I’ll have to take a look…to my dismay the left fork seal is leaking again so that will need attention. I appreciate it!
I thought that may be the case but the radiator was full and the oil didn’t have any sweet smell to it. I’ll drain the oil again soon to see what it looks like
Hello, to be honest, I just got parts off a local guy that sells Sherco stuff out of his small garage at his house. I know there are vendors in the UK that are supposed to be good too. I’m in the states and it a tricky to find decent prices on stuff here.

Nice work Nice bike. I am about to do the same to a 2004 290.. Looking forward to it all. Nice video. Thanks for educating
Glad to help and thanks for tuning in!
Just bought a 2006 290 for 1k. Glad I found this video
Did you mesure the thickness of the cluch disks? Perphaps the cluch was slipping because of the oil contamination.
Yeah I omitted that part just to cut some parts out to try and make the video less boring. They were just out of spec.

It was bad! I should have a riding video up soon with it. It ran really good and the suspension was much better too.

Do you not think the water pump seal may be leaking?

Is it me or does your carb look like it’s leaning over and not upright?
Yeah it’s on an oddball angle to fit in the cramped space. Hasn’t effected how it runs though.
