Paul can write down everything you need to know on a pin head. With age comes wisdom. So thankful to have his foundation help so many people with simplified how-to invest instruction. Simply a carbon copy of Jack Bogle.
To those who wish they were given not just asset classes but also % allocation: he talks about it starting 5:23. Spoiler: it's 25% each. Should've been in video description to spare the 20 minutes of skipping around trying to find the slide that actually has the portfolio on it...alas! You're welcome :)
Loved the presentation and THANK YOU! Question I have is where do the Mid Caps fit - Mid cap Value and Mid Cap Bblend? Also, should growth funds in all three segments (lg, mid, small) be part of the portfolio? If yes, what % / weight of each?
I was wondering why a total market fund like VTSAX was not included in the analysis regardless of their weighting of value and SC stocks? I would have loved to see it included just to get a view on how it actually performed.
@@RRD111 True. But he didn't make it part of his analysis. He just explains it away as not appropriate because it didn't have a lot of value and small cap stocks. He should have introduced it into the analysis when a total market product was introduced. We could have at least seen some performance analysis. Peace.
Vti has every us stock listed so you it’s gonna be the market beta using etf that focus on small cap or small value focus on the risk premium we expect to get for taking more risk on the investment.
This is misleading, I’m sorry. 2000 to 2009R right before and right after two major busts. And if you switch it to 2002 to 2011 you would get a very different outcome. So viewers beware of the 10 year periods that they select to explain. I understand his point which is simply that there are timings that could get you into trouble. However, you should take a critical stance on these selected.
This is good advice, but I dont like 100 years analysis. The world has changed so much. Also, I do not have even 40 years time horizon. A video like this would probably attract most audience from people between age 30 and 60. I am more interested in the last 10 to 15 years, maybe 20, and talk about a strategy that is good for the next 10 to 20 years or so. I am sure he has other videos with such focus.

AVUV: Small Cap Value (US)
AVDV: Small Cap Value (Intl)
VTI: Total Market Index (US)
VXUS: Total Market Index (Intl)
I think AVUS is a US stocks etf. AVDV is the International Small Cap Value etf.
@@yugarithen4342 thanks! I edited to correct that :)

I love that man as he sounds very honest

Would you prefer VOO or VV for this fund?
Can we assume that your return data includes reinvested dividends?
Excellent, I hope more investors find you. Thank you for enlightening me. I appreciate the fact based analysis.

I do IJH the S&P 400 and IJR the small cap S&P 600 and Vangaurd VB
What ETF's would you utilize on M1 to engage in this four find strategy? If it's published, where can it be found?
I know this comment is old, but
AVUS, RPV, AVUV, IJR
i wish the total market etfs like vti and itot had a more balanced approach... they seem extremely correlated with the S&P

VTI is ETF version of VTSAX

S&P and vti over long term preform about the same but vti does have small cap and small value
It would be really interesting to see where the Wellington Fund (VWELX) fits into these charts.
It doesn’t. No bonds here
I already have an M1 account - can you provide a link to your 4-Fund Pie so that I can copy it to my account?
This looks like spam. I doubt it is really from Paul Merriman.
@@TJinPT It's them, they just didn't think to link to it...go figure.
