Your progress has been such a joy to see even though you’ve been smart as hell from the start. I still get emotional hearing "code blue". Not that I remember anything from mine. I was an OHCA that needed CPR for 40 minutes, and then a helicopter ride to a level 1 trauma center. But during the following month I kept hearing them in the hospital and even the rehab hospital. It's weird the way the mind associates things after the fact, like code blue calls, ambulance sirens, and helicopters flying overhead when I wasn't even aware at the time.
Aw Jake I’m so sorry to hear you went through so much… I can’t even imagine what it must feel like to be brought back to those thoughts/feelings when hearing a code blue announcement. I hope it wasn’t too triggering for you! Glad to hear you have recovered!!
Glad you’re still with us, Jake! There is research on post-ICU patients, and what they experience. It’s very interesting, and maybe something you could lend a hand to when you are ready. Stay safe!

Honestly the reason I find it so cool to see is because you seem to have such a similar level of confidence AND similar range of knowledge throughout this entire experience, be it your 1st year or your 5th year in! Your progress has been such a joy to see even though you’ve been smart as hell from the start.
You are also compassionate and loving with great bedside manner, so props to you; some professionals (in my personal experience specifically in big city hospitals in CO) can be kinda cold and judgmental, especially to addicts and alcoholics in particular honestly, but NOT you, NOR your colleagues that you feature in! Love that they are also down to chat patient care in your videos, too! How nice!
Side note; but, I love how you tend to take the time to explain the medical situations and the state of your patients health in terms we can all understand, despite our ages or our backgrounds! XO keep it up girl! Also you and your husband are just ADORABLE! Much from form Denver, CO. XOXO.
Applying to med school next year (time flew!!) thanks for actually diving into your cases on your day to day. Not a big fan of channels that just say “I see patients from this time to this time.” Well but what exactly are you doing? You explain that portion so well. I do fully understand that there’s a delicate dance with HIPAA so likely many creators are worried about that but I think you do a fantastic job of being super thorough about what you’re doing without crossing any sort of line into HIPAA territory.
If I had to wake up at 3:00 am, I would miss 5 calls by going back to sleep. So perfect with your routine and being you
i love how you look so strong and positive even on duty, that is something i am working on myself
I just started my first year of med school in Canada and your videos have really kept me sane during this whirl wind process. Love your videos so much and I hope I have preceptors as lovely and enthusiastic as you!
I have been watching your videos since you were a first-year resident! Now that I am nearing the end of my undergraduate studies and planning my grad school journey (in an allied healthcare profession) I wanted to take the time to acknowledge how much your compassion, dedication and knowledge have inspired me to keep going. Thank you so much. I am very proud of you!
Your videos are the only thing that makes being a doctor look like something I would want to do. I want to be a teacher and definitely would not get in to bed school haha but you make it look so interesting
I have to agree! I never considered even working in a hospital or any medical profession. But now I’m applying to do EKG tech just to try it all out because she has made health care and science so interesting to me.

Siobhan thank you so much for your work, working in a hospital myself, I know that this a tough time for all doctors and nurses, I know that you are very stressed at times but you always manage to hide it, if you ever need help you can always reach out to someone to help you through tough times.
Been in and out of the hospital with UC the past couple months, everytime I'm in there's atleast 5-10 code blues or rapid response team calls, much respect for the code teams in these times
Uc as in colitis? I have colitis and feel as though I should be admitted sometimes but docs dont agree
@@LivvyAlexW yes ulcerative colitis, only time you should be admitted is if you get to where you can't hold your medicine down or food that's like 100% get to the hospital no questions asked, but for other symptoms it's really a personal choice.
@@jameshood3692 ok. Thank you. I have had issues of feeling sooooooo sick, but not bad enough to not keep food down completely.
@@LivvyAlexW I feel you there, just try to eat small portions and bland foods but everyone is different, I can eat pizza and sushi just fine but watermelon tears me up
@@jameshood3692 I can eat crackers or bland toast and feel like bung. Anything I eat hurts. I can’t pinpoint. I should do an elimination diet, but I like food too much lol
I have worked in the hospital for 10 years, they are the real hero’s. Code blue brings everyone out of nowhere
Stay safe!

Can we just appreciate how polite are they when they answer the paiger s .. I mean they greet each other with thankyou for answering and then go ahead with talk
Doc, this video gave me goosebumps, and the “so, bye for now” made me smile 😀. 👍👏👏👏 🇨🇦🙏
I just found your channel and I am in awe with how smart you are. You are such a happy spirit and anyone would be lucky to have you as a doctor!
I have been watching you since you’re second year and omg you are a amazing person and doctor, all these videos have been such eye opening experiences and you just get right down to business. I applaud how far you’ve come. Don’t stop reaching for you’re dreams !!! ❤️🔥

What a unique way to learn what one really does in that realm. So personable, yet professional. May we all have care provided to us by people like her. Thank you for sharing and your video has given me an entirely new way to appreciate medical professionals.
That's intense. God bless you and everyone else that does this for a living.
I'm a former French ICU nurse, I love to watch your videos, they are so interesting! Thanks a lot for those!
I can't believe she's already finished her residency love your vids I have been watching since your first year of residency
You could say that she already has finished her (Internal) residency, as this stage is also called fellowship - but she never calls herself a fellow.
I’ve been watching your videos for a long time now and I just have to say I am so grateful that the world has people like you. Thank you for everything that you do, doctor!
I still think your are an angel that God has put here on earth. Thanx for the great work
Thank you for your service, 5 nights in ICU and you really get to appreciate what you do for people.
Can’t help but tear up everytime I watch you. I wanna be you.
I’ve a newfound respect for doctors. I’ve always been patient in the past but my god….you guys really are superheroes.
Your videos are soooo inspiring....whenever i have a rough day I watch your videos at night and remind myself to get myself back up the next to start chasing after my dream❤❤
Following you since your first year medical resident and i was first year medical student!! Time flies by so quickly, i hope to become such a dedicated doctor like you❤🙏🌟
Yes! I love that even though you are a doctor you get carried on by the moment and forget to drink water 😂 it really does happen to all of us! Mark is an amazing husband for making you drink that huge water bottle! You’re awesome, Siobhan!
Thanks so much for your work! My mother has been hospitalized a number of times in recent months and I am so very grateful for dedicated individuals like you. ❤
It’s sooo interesting to see all of this behind the scenes stuff
I love your attitude, so often the medical life can create jaded cynical people, yet you are able to remain optimistic and cheerful. I know forsure your patients benefit because of this.
I love watching your videos. You are such a teacher at heart and I would personally love to be a student of yours if I was a nurse. Be blessed.
You can just tell she is one of those people who had to move up a year or 2 because she’s so smart. Your so amazing keep going Siobhan!
I’m in a postbac program right now to take my prerequisite science courses (I was a theater major) and your videos are a major inspiration for my huge career shift from the arts to medicine. Thank you!
I am doing something similar! I have a textiles degree from an art school but she has opened a whole world of science and medicine to me that I never knew I’d like so much. I’m starting classes in two days 🙃
I really respect all the doctors who are struggling for life from all over the world today. You must be having a hard time because of Corona, so I hope you all cheer up. I hope you will continue to be of great help to the development of the world's medical community.
aghhh I was so worried we'd lose these types of videos as you progressed out of residency... so glad to get another one! I'd love to see you film more of these if you pick up shifts In the years to come! Love the content

I'm so proud of you. The healthcare system could greatly benefit from more compassionate, smart and caring doctors like you!
0:00 I'm surprised that the person that is saying code blue on the speaker goes good with the clapping music! Lol
U can just tell she loves her job, this girl is so inspirational
You make my day every time you upload a new video. You are such a good teacher even though I don't study anything related to the health department your passion makes me want to investigate further of any disease or procedure 💜 Keep the good work! Lots of love from Honduras
I’ve been following your channel for a couple years now but I never comment. What you do is awesome! I’m a vet tech and I wish I had someone like you to watch and learn
To be honest, this video left me semi speechless 😶. Even though when I saw the title I was like “oh crap, another code blue!” Little did I imagine that is was a level 5 code blue!! Siobhan, this was awesome and keep up the absolutely amazing work!!!! Not only with YouTue but also being a medical professional!!!! Like I genuinely would consider myself extremely lucky to be someone’s care that has your talent or being in your care for that matter!!! Anyway have an absolutely amazing day or night and keep up the spectacular work!!!!!!
Thank God foe the doctors and nurses that are on the front lines keeping us alive and actually care enough to not give up with how bad covid is. Gods speed and definitely God Bless.
I hope my boys would be doctors in Ontario some day. Love you loads.
I love this series. Dr. Sioban's thumbnail usually has her eyes wide open with concern. She's awesome.
this is so cool! I'm in nursing school hoping to be an ICU nurse one day, so it's so fun to see the inner-workings.
You don’t understand how helpful you are by remaining dedicated to inform and teach us! Coming from an individual who has extreme anxiety and eagerness to start medical school, you’ve made me a lot more comfortable and ready to save lives! Thank you!!
I clicked so fast I thought my finger might fall off I love love love your videos your such a joy to watch and so informative never never change and continue to do you 💗
This gal is one of the most positive people on TH-cam
Isn’t Mark a cutie worrying about your hydration 🥺 as always a super interesting vlog Siobhan, can’t believe this is your last year of residency!
I actually love how happy and joyful you are during your whole video. Keep it up
i like how in depth this goes with different tests and diagnosis. It gives me more insight as to why in the lab we keep getting all these tests for alcohol and related things, for patients they might not be admitting to the behavioral health units.
Salute to all The DOCTORS working for us 24/7🤞🏻
