Thank you ATW for introducing us to Scott on Tape. We are always happy to watch and support another TH-camr. You have introduced our family to many TH-camrs since you are our original watch. Keep up the great work. :)
I’ve been to Chimney Rock several times. Yes, there are some longer hiking trails there, but the actual rock is fairly easy to access. You drive a ways into the park to a parking area and the last time I was there was an elevator that took you up to a gift shop. From there a set of stairs to the top of the rock. Spectacular views! Also, The Last Of The Mohicans was filmed there.
Adam, western North Carolina, eastern Tennessee, and southwestern Virginia are FULL of little interesting towns & places. FULL, I tell you. Having lived in this area for almost 70 years, I still come across things that blow my mind. Very nice to watch you discover them as well - it is a treat. Keep up the great work!
Oh my goodness Adam I wish I had known where you were going to one of my recent stomping grounds! By the time you read this-if you do read your comments and are still there-I wish you could go to Saluda, a tiny little town with a wonderful history. It is tucked away like a little gem at the top of the Saluda grade, where foothills turn into the Blue Ridge Mountains. There was a train track built in the late 1800s that was the steepest main line railroad east of the Rockies. Many of the stores on Main Street are original, and you can feel the history. It’s like going back in time. I was living in Saluda when I first started watching TH-cam, and found your channel.
I just love the videos of these old towns.very fun to watch.I use to love to stop through these places. I glad you enjoys these sort of things love going along!Scott is a good buddy
Welcome to my part of the state of North Carolina ❤. There are so many filming locations located in Western North Carolina. Lake Lure is famous for were the filming locations of Dirty Dancing, Last of the Mohicans and many more. Please come back to this area again there's so many more things to see and do. From the looks of where you ended your video you are right down the road from my house. Can't wait to see where you end up in tomorrow. I'm truly enjoying your videos of North and South Carolina.
You two have a great chemistry together and you are so entertaining to watch. Please do more collabs in the future and re-visit some of these hidden gems when they're open. That would be super cool as well. Really enjoying the videos!😃👍⚘
You missed it Adam. The old Chimney Rock boys camp, now a residential community called Firefly Cove, served as Kellerman's Resort in Lake Lure. All of the interior dancing scenes, Baby carrying the watermelon and practicing on the stairs, Johnny's cabin were filmed there. Edit - I copied this from a website. I can't vouch for it 100 percent. My wife told me that there were some shots filmed at Lake Lure. That is all I know.
Adam definitely has a video of the lake lifting scene somewhere on his channel. I rmbr, there was basically no water :( where it was anymore, and he stood on a tiny rock basically where it happened. I do not rmbr if it was the same spot where the inside scenes happened as well though.
Hello!👋 Lifelong North Carolinian and former resident of that area as well as knowing a person who was one of the background dancers in Dirty Dancing 😁 You are correct about everything except the iconic lift scene in the lake. That was filmed in Virginia. ✌️💙
I really loved these videos with Scott. I am one of your Canadian viewers that he mentioned. 🇨🇦 I can't bring myself to watch today's WDW video so I am going back and watching this instead. These were good times. Beautiful scenery in this one. I really enjoyed that. The rock itself was quite impressive. I also wish the Chimney Rock fair was open. I bet if you had asked, Bub would have let you explore his place.
I live in Greenville SC, about 40 miles from Hendersonville NC. I love the Appalachian mountains, and the blue ridge parkway. Glad you Finally discovered it.
Adam, I remember many years ago going to that place in Hendersonville with all the statues outside. It use to be a restaurant and I think there was another building behind it that had antiques for sale. That has been over 20 years ago. I had friends who lived in town there. We went to the Apple Festival there that year. The area is famous for its apple growers. There use to be a large gift shop right off I-26 there called the Pottery Barn I think that we always stopped at and bought apples, etc. We also use to go through Chimney Rock and buy the kids gifts, stop along the river and visit the Old Cider Mill store in Bat Cave where they actually pressed apples and made cider in front of you. Oh those were such good times. Simple, we just went because it was our tradition. Family was all together then, happy times. Now the world is so complex. Everything expensive. Everything different. So many places are gone. Breaks my heart to think about it on one hand but those good memories add a moment of peace to me now that brighten me up and give me hope. Thank you for showing the area.
Some of my earliest childhood memories center around that area, especially Chimney Rock. You walked past the restaurant that my parents took my brother and I to every time we stayed in Chimney Rock, and I suspect the little motel that we stayed in as at well. As a point of nostalgia, for me at least, I stayed in that same motel and ate at the restaurant too back in 2009 when I was on a solo vacation. By the way, the Lake Lure and Chimney Rock area was used for location shooting for both the "Dirty Dancing" and "Last of the Mohicans" movies.
We go there quite often, being we live nearby. Lake Lure where many scenes of "Dirty Dancing" were filmed... then Chimney Rock where the classic "The Last of the Mohicans" was filmed. Beautiful up there...Great vlog...y'all keep on keepin' on ✌
Adam, When I saw the church in the distance it reminded me. There are rural churches in the middle of the NC mountains with Italian inspired religious frescoes by a famous artist and NC native Ben Long. There is one is in Glendale Springs NC and the other is in West Jefferson NC. There may be more.
So many beautiful scenes in this video incredible how the rocks with the water flowing over them at the stream so gorgeous! And what kind of stuff was scattered all along on the side buildings it was hilarious A tiger in a cage, a crocodile, big boy hamburgers, you name it and it’s there. Scott hello you are a very cool guy and great fun to watch with Adam! This was an outstanding video you guys and I really think burying yourself in the mud was a good idea, Lol
Ah Ha! Finally, you are in my neck of the woods...Weird or not...problems or not...I am so excited! Adam the Wooo...needs to meet the massive Big the Foot statutes on Hyw. 221 in Daniel Town, where I am from and live;) Also, I used to have a couple of friends in Bat Cave...Bear and Kindewah...Cherokee Indians with a spiritual store. I have not ben there in years but the memories are awesome.
Adam, just watched the S.S. classic "Goonies" with my 7 year old and we've decided you've got to explore the locations from this film. I grew up there as a child and the scenery is incredible! Lots of content, brother. Be safe!
I can’t believe you missed a chance to talk about not just Dirty Dancing biding filmed at Lake Lure but also FIRESTARTER with Drew Barrymore… I live up the mountain from there in Hendersonville
Awesome! You were about 30 minutes from me! I'm right across the state line at the bottom of the 26 grade! I go tp Chimney Rock cafe for lunch in the spring and summer and eat on the deck over the river. I love the shops there and yes, I have hiked the trail! I have to take the elevator now, but I've done it! So glad to see you there! Lots of movies filmed there, Firestarter, Last of the Mohicans, just to name a few. Thanks for sharing, and stay outta the mud! Lol!
The French Broad River overflowed it’s banks several decades ago in a historic flood, which also left many of the big boulders you see in the riverbed now. The dilapidated structures you showed were once thriving businesses. It seems that the trade-off for living in beautiful places is the potential for natural disasters that can happen out of the blue. Most are once in a lifetime events, but leave behind a trail of devastation, with the scars visible until nature covers them over. There was a fire on Rumbling Bald a few years ago, but that’s a story for another time. Carry on Adam!
Adam the Woo does not seem the type to settle down anywhere and that is a blessed thing. I wish and am also seeking the courage to do what this man is doing, Because I am a woman, it is hard,
I live in Hendersonville. Piggy’s is the ice cream shop, Harry’s is bbq eating hole, our best kept secret of great food! Also the walls are filled with memorabilia, license plates, statues, very cool ambiance. Wish it were open for you. Lake Lure, they filmed Dirty dancing there. This area is apple country. Labor Day weekend is our Apple Festival in downtown Main Street Hendersonville. Kelly mcgillis from Top Gun lives in Edneyville. Welcome!
My friend's uncle owns the apple farm. That tractor was actually broken down on the ground and they happened to leave it over a silo that was just starting to sprout, so what you see is the silo just growing under the tractor, no fancy tricks or cranes to get it up there. I saw it about five years ago traveling from NJ to Florida and it was no more than 15-20 feet tall at the time, so it has grown quite a bit since then.
Great little tour, of somewhere i will never go, to but lovely to see. That collapsing house just shows that nature abhors a vacuum and will reclaim anything given enough time. Thanks for sharing the sights, sounds and your sense of humour. The true difference between a crocodile and an alligator is that a crocodile bites your arm off, but the alligator chews your arm off.
I love the mountains of North Carolina and have been pretty close to the area you V Logged here. Glad your sidekick for today came along as we needed a little comedy relief. Although getting stuck in the mud is not funny, yet it was.
I am a North Carolinian and NC is pure beauty. You'll never find a more beautiful place than Western NC. My Dad and every generation before him for a couple hundred years are from Brevard and surrounding areas. Heaven on earth.
It's so cool watching you travel all around my state over the last handful of vids. Its exciting to see you experiencing all we have to offer in NC, and going to places I've been to so many times in my life. I hope we've made a good impression on you and Scott!
Here's to my very good friend, Johnny Roadhog who grew up in and loved Bat Cave, North Carolina. He told me lots of stories about it, including how as a teenager one of his jobs was to cleanup the trash left behind by tourists at places like Devil's Rock. Sadly, he is deceased, but he and Bat Cave are remembered.
I haven't been to Chimney Rock since October 2014. I wrote my name and my sister's name, Lisa on top of a wooden rail at one of the lookout points. I will treasure that forever because my sister passed in February 2015. So Chimney Rock was our last trip that we had together. 💖
Thanks to Adam, Scott probably now won't hear the end of the Burt hairdo comparisons. Lol. That town has a lot of cool things to see. I'm glad you and Scotton tape are spending all this time together. This is great.
“Slow down, let me talk to the cows” Adam you’re awesome!

As another Canadian fan of Adams, Thanks for the video's and bringing Scott to our attention. I've subscribed to his channel now
Scott’s been a fun addition to your videos
