There is one of the biggest thing that you left out or maybe you don't know yourself. The contestants goes through three different judges before Simon Paula and Randy, or at least that is what my youngest sister says. My youngest sister tried out for American Idol the year Carrie Underwood won. She did not make it to the round to Simon, Paula, and Randy. Now I don't know if I am just saying this because I am her older brother, but with given the chance my sister would of beaten Carrie Underwood. She is very Good. Of course that is if what my sister says about you go through three different judges before the primary ones.
