Before this video released,1 Hour ago,I was playing Cuphead: I tried getting a A+ Rank but then I was easily beaten again by his 3rd phase. WHAT A MAD BOY! Even after I got to inkwell hell,That boi still does beat me up! What a beat down!
Fantastic video as always and is healping me heaps with strats, and I can finally use the charge shot as an optimal weapon. It was always my go to in my main playthough and still is my favourite weapon to use in the game. This guide mainly helped me know what to do in phase 3 as i really struggles with the fireballs. thank you.
Damn you must have notifications on to see this video so fast lol. Just wanted to say thanks for your support man! I personally don't find Grim Matchstick very difficult but a lot of people do, AND people actually asked for a guide in my last video, so here is the video. Next one I'm gonna upload is probably Moonshine Mob because there are a LOT of tricks to make the fight easier so naturally I want to do that one next.
@@MrKap moonshine mob let's goooo baby! My favorite fight of the entire game. I have my own ideas for it myself. I usually go with a Chaser and Round about. Round about for the first two phases (doing the Sound wave trick in the second phase on where you smoke bomb or Dodge Roll on the second floor. ) And then I use Chaser in the final phase right after shooting a chaser shield at the snail after getting close up to his reveal. And then I chase the snout itself with round about and try to get either above or below it to pelt it with round about shots and handle the ants with Chaser and it's own EX. And when it's down I handle the snail with Chaser and spam it's EX since it seems to send the last shield out and home into the enemy. Which would do amazing damage onto the snails small health pool. I S ranked this boss so many times I j do it every time I start the game up for fun now
I thought it would be really hard but I did it in like 10 attempts with roundabout, charge, super 1, and heart ring. I guess I was so scarred by regular mode that I forgot how much better I got
W strat bro. I would've s ranked on the first try but forgot to use my ex once (got it in a few more). This whole time I wasn't using the lobber and I was wondering why the second and third phases were so hard XD.
ı watch 1 year later but thank you man ım so happy ı watch this videos and open cuphead before i paly 1.5 hours but i didnt do s i watch video play game and first try i take the s rank thank you sooooo much
To be honest I just beat grim matchstick like last Thursday and I think he is going to always be the hardest boss I ever dighted in cuphead. I was stuck on this level for dayyyysss and I finally beat him the day I was going to get my wisdom tooth pulled out.
grim matchstick on expert is way easier on expert than it is on regular, at least it is for me. the hardest part about this s rank is getting the parries because there are only parries in his first phase
The sad thing is that Airplane bosses really don't have many tricks you can do in order to make them easier. You just kind of gotta be better lol. I'm still gonna make a guide eventually, but I'd rather tackle bosses that I can actually give some tips and advice on, ya know? I appreciate the comment!
@@theuglymawg45 Oh yeah Dr Kahl's Robot is definitely easier than Wally Warbles. Dr Kahl's last phase is still a pain in the butt for me, but it doesn't compare to the agony of getting through every phase of Wally without taking a hit lol
The clouds go in different directions depending on the difficulty. Regular Modes clouds go in the opposite direction that Expert Modes clouds go in, which many have said that the Expert Modes clouds direction actually makes it easier to beat Grim.
Oh my gosh that is so useful for people that have trouble beating on expert definitely use lobber for rumor and speaking of rumor can you please do a S rank guild please
Yeah, I really don’t know how people can struggle on this boss. He’s so easy. I don’t know if it’s a skill issue, but I definitely have more trouble with Beppi the Clown and King Dice.
@@JeremiahJames246 Yup, it's a skill issue his mechanics are easy to get used to, and his attacks aren't hard to avoid either (other than maybe the small fire bubbles that release fire balls when they take enough damage in the final phase of the fight)
@@ExcaliburSonictheKing No no no, you misunderstood me. I'm saying that I struggle with beppi the clown and king dice's boss gauntlet more than fire dragon boi. Then I followed up by saying that I don't know if that is a skill issue
I don't think Ms. Chalice is the pick here. Mainly because of the parries. It would be difficult to wait till after the rings pass and dash backwards to get the parry, when you can just parry it from above or below. You'll get little to no value from her Dodge Roll and her smaller jumps and double jump wouldn't be of much use either. Sticking with Cuphead/Mugman, using Heart Ring for health, and following the guide should be all you need to easily S Rank him!
I currently am working on this boss, so far I did 10 bosses on S-rank in the last week (first time). No offense to anyone who does it, I consider it cheating (in an innocent way because it is a singleplayer/co-op game) to use DLC-tools for the main game considering that the main game was not developed with those tools in mind and because many gamers had/have those tools not available when they first played the game. But yes, with that charm which gives extra hearts it is a lot easier to get the S-rank, having to do it hitless otherwise, while being under time-pressure, is what makes it so difficult to get A+ or S-rank.

S rank aka
One of the most easy S Ranks. It looks hard at first but JEEZ why did he get worst on a harder mode

1:49 yes. The pun was intended
I accidentally S-Ranked Grim Matchstick the same attempt I first beat him.
Thanks you really helped me out here.

I have beated him by only using lobber in simple and regular (No secondary weapon, no supers, no charms.)
I think I S ranked Grim using Lobber, Charge for some reason, Invincibility, and I think either Heart Ring or Twin Heart.
I don't remember
Pretty decent loadout if you tend to take a lot of hits on Grim Matchstick
@@MrKap Really just phase 3.
But I beat it after a couple tries.
Wally, Hilda, and maybe even Ribby and Croaks gave me more trouble.

I was able to S rank Grim actually my 1st attempt but i got a glitch i sed 6 Ex,s but it only said 5? this happening to me until finnaly it was done.

Luckily I was going to make a guide on her soon, but I've been pretty busy as of late so hopefully I can release it soon
Are you gonna do the Root Pack and Goopy le Grande? Or are those too easy to need a guide?
Pretty much. A guide isn't necessary for them.
@@MrKap So, no, you won't make a guide for them?
I am stuck on him and Wally right now lol
The beginning of every one of the these videos 😂 so you want to s rank ... Eh?
Honestly if I am being real I still genuinely don’t get why people say Grim Matchstick is one of the hardest bosses to beat in the game
For me it used to be but now once I became a master at the game Grim is easier. Harder than a couple bosses but definitely medium
Maybe because expert is easier than regular. The reverse cloud direction helps a lot
