Sounds good! Shame it is a bit too late for me as I only have 2 modules left in my Criminology and Psychology degree...looking forward to DD212 though which I am starting in October :)
This degree sounds a wonderful opportunity to have and study. Criminology and Forensic Psychology have always been my interest-preferred subjects. I'm currently studying English with the OU but have always wanted to study Criminology and its surrounding areas, but truthfully I feel I wouldn't have enough knowledge to complete each module to a good enough standard. Is it possible to view the module pages to view what will be studied in each section and its assessment criteria?
Hi Paige If you are currently studying English at the OU, then you already have all the study skills required to switch to Criminology; the aim of the level 1 modules is to teach you everything else you need in the subject, so you can move on and gain your specialised degree. Our BA (Hons) Criminology and Psychology (Q98) allows students to focus on Criminology and Forensic psychology, although it does not come with accreditation from the British Psychological Society (BPS), so if you wanted to go on to work as a therapist in this area you would need to do further study. If you’re still not sure you can try the quiz for the first module: students.open.ac.uk/openmark/dd103.ayrf and if you would like to get a taste of the subjects covered you can simply Google DD103, DE100, DD210 or DD212 alongside the phrase “openlearn” to find extracts from the relevant modules. You can find more details about the degree on the Open University website under Criminology, you can also contact the Social Sciences student support team directly on 01908 541 065 if you want to discuss things further.
