I love tinkering with alcohol stoves and as an ultralight kayaker, they are my go to for cooking. I've make a lot of different ones over the years and, while pressurized stoves will always win for efficiency, the unpressurized or "semi" pressurized stoves like a penny stove are the winners for simplicity both of use and construction. Now, having said that, let me just say that this stove is BRILLIANT. It uses the pot to create the semi pressurized environment and is a side burner which always means faster boil times. I can't wait to do some real world experimentation with various can diameters. Could a larger diameter can produce a stove that is a bit more stable for the pots? Could it be a lower height and still achieve the same burn times and time to boil? Crap, I wish it wasn't after midnight as I write this because I NEED to be in the workshop! Well done! BRAVO!
What I really like about this design is that any fuel that's left over after it's been extinguished can be easily retrieved by tipping the stove to one side and pouring the remains back into whatever you're storing the alcohol in.
I built one of these last night, making some minor changes to the dimensions. I'll get those posted later today. Using 2 fluid ounces; approx 60 ml of HEET, I was able bring 2 cups of tap water to a _rolling boil_ in a little over 5 minutes. Stove continued to burn for about 23 minutes before all the fuel was exhausted. Very pleased with this stove! KMKMR22... Bravo Zulu, m8!
If you made the top ring slightly different, it could be rotated to adjust the flame for simmering. Leave some of the top ring slightly longer (enough to be able to close off the slots by rotating it), that should do the trick. Add in a handle for the top ring and the base to hold things while turning the top ring when the stove is firing.
I made several and they keep burning up the top piece the aluminium keeps burning up I am getting about 3-4 minutes burn time total. It was a fun build. Thanks!
Thanks for watching the video. I think if you watch my tutorial videos, and find about how to make. Please feel free to question if anything you want to know.
This is one of the first stoves that's really made me want to make a stove... and, sadly, one of the only stoves that I can't find directions or a 'making of' video. Help? I've looked at simple Groove Stove video but it's built differently. Would love to see a follow-up of this video. Thanks!
Thank you for your comment :) I think if you watch my tutorial video "how to make FishEye stove" , and find about how to make some parts. In addition, please feel free to question if anything you want to know.
Thank you for watching. It is really 15ml / 7 minutes. And "Sake-Cup Stove mini" that I made is a fuel-efficient further. It will burn 11 minutes of fuel 15ml. Although it takes a little extra time in order to boil water :)

Simplest, most efficient and most economical design alcohol stove I have seen anywhere.

@@LA_Viking It's more fun to make one!
Beautiful idea!
This makes the grove stove that much nicer!
I love it!

Cool, love the design doesn't require jet holes. Seems pretty easy to build one!
The Best soda Can stove I have seen and will be making it. Boris.
Wow! Best stove i've seen so far on the web!!! Great job!!!!
Ótimo vídeo Parabéns 👍
Dear KM you are the man buddy !!! I 'm 55 and enjoy your vieos and your music selection very very much.!!! Domo arigato !!!
This is the best alcohol stove by far. No preheat, it works great. For fuel, I used Denatured Alcohol, it seems to work pretty well.
Very clever idea. I'm going to make one right now :)
Great design Yukio. Good job.
nice design
i hope to try and make one soon

This is actually the easiest to make! The main difficulty is to press the lines of inner wall, which can be done with a steel ruler.
I made several and they keep burning up the top piece the aluminium keeps burning up I am getting about 3-4 minutes burn time total. It was a fun build. Thanks!
Your stove are burning too hot (overruning), cold be that grooves are todo big o too many.
Wow....👍👍
Upper part is not necessary.
You need to drill a hole near the top of the inner part to release the pressure.
Yes, but the upper part make the stove more elegant. ;)
Good to know this the bit about the holes near the top of liner as overflowing of fuel is scary 🤠
I want to buy one!
Can u shoot a tutorial about the making process? It looks amazing!! By far the best stove video..
Thanks for watching the video.
I think if you watch my tutorial videos, and find about how to make.

KMKMR22 tutorial for Side slot stove please
KMKMR22 I'd like to see a tutorial video as well, however I looked through your entire video list and did not see a how to video. Do you have one?

Thank you!
I use the sponge abrasive manufactured by 3M. UltraFine or SuperFine.
This provides no polished.
Awesome idea
Thank you :)
Awesome idea gonna give it a try
Thank you.
I hope that it goes well :)
NICE IDEA

i made a penny stove with 35ml capacity-burned for 54mins with 4 holes.
problem is 4 holes is not enough heat to boil water
It is a fuel-grade alcohol and 23% ethanol 77% methanol :)
Muito bom parabes
Thank you!
super! j'aime!

with what fuel? why the fire can be lit outside the side and not lit in the middle ?
It looks like there are three small holes drilled in the top edge of the upper hoop. Correct? If so, what are their purpose? Thanks!
another fine japanese?, bit of kit
very nice :)
huhu smells good
I bought a similar side burner stove and it spits alcohol like crazy.
Nice. How do you achieve this finish? Ty, Chris
nice
Thank you. Who is Yukio?
Thank you for watching!

I can't find the stove it is based on. Any chance of a link or a step by step building instructions?
Try to search for the keyword "How to make a Groove Stove easy model".
I think it surely found :)
whos the music by thanks
👍👍👍
can I use the bottom of the can to make the bottom peace? and if i do, will this affect the performance of the stove?
Sorry my mistake.
How did you remove tab?
Ya someone else uses a Flint fire starter
WoW! Easy to build! HOW!? :)))
Do you sell your stoves?
How much alcohol did you pour for the performance test?.
Thank you!
Thank you!
