Great reaction - and this really is a deep dive - Karen Girl's predated both Sakura Gakuin and therefore BAYMETAL by a year and more. I think Su was about 10 in this. This song has some significance to BABYMETAL. Obviously Su was one of the Karen Girl's (and well done for spotting her immediately). Yui was a fan of Karen Girl's (her family and Ayami's - one of the other Karen Girl's - family were friends). One of Yui's family was taken seriously ill and she went to the hospital every day but was too young to be allowed into the ICU to visit, so she sat in a waiting room - the hospital staff would put her favourite videos on for her to watch. That was Karen Girl's. Yui watched over and over and learned all the dance moves. When Yui's family member recovered they got tickets to the show where Karen Girl's, who were disbanding, would make their farewell performance. Also at that show was Kei Kobayashi accompanying the group Mini Pati who he was working with at that time. It was here that he saw Su and was impressed with her unusually loud singing style and stage presence and he had the first thoughts of wanting to work with her as he saw some potential for doing something new and untried with her fronting a Jpop-metal fusion band. Meanwhile Yui and her family enjoyed the show, Yui dancing along in the audience. At the end she said she wanted to be a Karen Girl's member. After Karen Girl's disbanded Amuse set up a new Idol group - Sakura Gakuin - with Su and Ayami as two of the founding members. Yui, inspired by her own Idols Su and Ayami and Karen Girl's, and Moa auditioned for Sakura Gakuin dancing to the song 'Over the Future' and they joined SG as transfer students. At the Legend D show in December 2012 celebrating Su-metal's 15th birthday BABYMETAL performed a cover of 'Over the Future'. Yui wrote in a Sakura Gakuin diary entry that this was the moment her dreams came true, performing her favourite Karen Girl's song with one of the original Karen Girl's. She was so happy.
Anything involving the girls pre- BabyMetal is entertaining. Some of us just have to switch to "dad" or "mom" mode. Also, some of us may have been "late" to the BabyMetal party but through these home movies we get to watch them grow from little girls to the Queen and Princesses of Metal.
This was a one year stint, by an entirely different management. Primarily for an Anime soundtrack. (not connected to BM or Sakura Gakuin). Su and Ayami (the girl with pigtails) later joined the school-themed idol group Sakura Gakuin. Yui and Moa, meanwhile were big fans of this group and actually danced to this very song for their audition to Sakura Gakuin - they made it through and that's where they met Su - they eventually grouped together do the heavy music project/subgroup, which became Babymetal.

This video is such an important part of Babymetal-history it is hard to put in to words. Karen Girls performed in front of a 20K audience at an anime-festival at Super Saitama Arena. Koba was in the audience that night. He previously had an idea about a project combining idol and metal. When he saw the performance (that is honestly terrifyingly good!) he found the singer he wanted for that project. At the same time, Yui was going through some family drama and got through it by listening and dancing to Karen Girls. She decided she wanted to be a performer because of Karen Girls. When Yui and Moa auditioned to Sakura Gakuin, where they met Su and formed Babymetal, they danced to this song. I think it's not unreasonable to say that Babymetal wouldn't have existed if it wasn't for this song.
Koba didn't see Karen Girl's at Saitama Super Arena but at their farewell performance at Shibuya Boxx. He was there with Mini Pati, who were also on the program. Yui's "family drama" was the very serious illness of a family member. Grington300 300 explained it well in his comment.

It has slipped my memory what act it was, but there are pictures of him from that show. I knew he and Mini-Pati was at the Shibuya Boxx as well. Serious illness in the family summed up as "family drama" seems fitting. I didn't feel like writing an essay. My point was, without this song the Babymetal we know and love would likely not have happened.

I've looked through the list of acts and JAM Project seems the only prospect, but it would have to be an act under Amuse, where he worked. I know he wasn't in the Behind The Scenes footage of Karen Girl's there. He managed someone at _Summer Sonic_ before Babymetal ever appeared there, but that's a different situation. I suppose "family drama" may have different connotations in different places, to me it immediately suggests marital or parent-child strife. Massive arguments. Not illness.

Wow, a bit of Karen Girl's. There isn't a whole lot of KG stuff out there anyway, since the band only lasted about a year and was only formed to sing songs for an anime. At this point in Su's history she'd never even heard heavy metal music before. That didn't happen until she was put in the heavy music club in Sakura Gakuin. In fact, none of the girls in Babymetal ever heard heavy metal before that. In an early interview with the girls, Moa was so confused what heavy metal was she though they had to carry heavy objects when they performed on stage, lol.
