The jacket is very flattering. Princess seams definitely make a difference. I like this pattern!

I bought some ponte knit for jackets or cardigans and now I feel so much better prepared for the challenge.

Beautiful cardigan, the fit is really excellent. An aid to memory from my childhood is to spread out both hands. The hand with the thumb and first finger making an ‘L’ shape facing you always your Left. So the mirror imagine will be the opposite side.

I think people should button things as it makes sense to them. I would never have noticed you have them “reversed”! I know there’s some reason for that mired in history somewhere but can’t imagine it would be relevant today 😊 Edit: apparently women’s blouses are that way because wealthy women had lady’s maids who dressed them and the majority of those servants were right handed. It made it easier to dress someone else! I don’t have that problem. 😂

This looks fabulous. You have inspired me to attempt a jacket sweater myself. You could add a button to each pocket for decoration and interest, and to show off the pockets. Thanks for the videos, your tips and tricks are very helpful in my sewing journey.

I have the same problem telling left from right and I learnt a trick that actually works. If you hold up your hands, pointing your index finger upwards and your thumb horizontally, the left hand makes the letter L.

Love your jacket Johanna...I also sew lots of structured semi-tailored shirt style jackets in stable knits...one additional tip that I have is to press a 1-1/4" strip of interfacing on the back of the front piece of the jacket under where I'm going to put my buttonholes...it stabilizes that area & adds strength to the finished buttonholes...I even do that on knit shirts/blouses...

Thank you Johanna. I’m planning a cardi very soon and this video was very helpful. Please introduce yourself at the beginning. I have watched you for a long time but others may be new. Be well you seem so much happier.

So happy to hear you found my video useful. Best wishes on your cardigan project. And good point about introducing myself in every video, at this point I feel like I'm chatting with friends so I forget to do it sometimes 😊

Being a little dyslexics I don't see a lot of left right mistakes. I also have trouble with which side the buttons are on . But it doesn't bother me. Your cardigan looks great.

I thrift a lot of menswear because they have the best button ups… and the buttons don’t bother me… I really love the way the cardigan came out! I want to make one! This video was so fun to watch. You have such bubbly energy.

I like the weight of the fabric and the design of the finished look. I like collars that don't hug the neck so this is option is great. However, I would have liked to have seen you doing your buttonhole test samples - the ones that worked and the ones that didn't.

Had to laugh at the left v.s. right confusion. I wore a leg brace on my right leg when I was young, and that's how I learned left from right :) Fast forward to being older and starting to cross my legs/ankles --my ability to tell left from right is still sub-par!

I have done that so many too but what i do is to add another row of buttons on the left of your 1 st row of buttons and now it looks like a double breast jacket!
