  • I tackled the dreaded spark plug change on my 2011 Honda CBF1000 GT finally. 18000 miles done on what I think is the original spark plugs. Well worth doing!! I also show how to change the air filter for the bike. If you have any questions on anything I show in the video please let me know in the comments. :)
    If you enjoyed the video please hit the like button, it pleases the gods of TH-cam and then let my videos do well :D Also if you're new here please consider hitting that subscribe button for more bike related content :)

      Have CB600F8 and it’s pretty similar, the frame makes it a harder job then it should be. Well done though. I will say one thing, there is a socket that comes in my tool kit for the plugs and it makes the job dead simple with a 14mm spanner, think Wemoto sell the the socket for cheap too 👍🏼

    It is called progress. Watercooling, electronics, just adds to the struggle doing the simple things . . . Do you add copper grease to your plug threads? The biggest pain on across the frame fours as I remember was getting all the dirt and crap out of the orifices around the plug before I took them out. Question: Have you ever had a spark plug fail? Fun job, the joy of big motors. Good presentation.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes indeed, however I think a lot of stuff could be made simpler to service and it's very much a thing where not much thought is given to making it easily accessible. Now thinking on it this bike is actually fine, but a lot of modern stuff could be better, servicing just needs to be ranked higher at the design phase. As we said before tho bikes arent made to be practical anymore.
      No I've never added copper grease to anything, I do change and inspect the plugs regularly on ally bikes, they come out at least once a year usually which probably stops them binding.
      The Magna is a pain to clean the spark holes out, one benefit of this bike was it was very clean in there, should probably say that whenever I do it again to clean it out in case someone is doing it for the first time.
      I have indeed. On a car though, once ever put of probably thousands on my stuff and people's stuff I look after. Well made things in fairness :)
      Thanks! :)

    Well. Just bought a 2006 CBF and these videos are very helpful......BUT, mine came with lowers and virtual every bolt was ####### siezed up. What an absolute ball ache 😪. Eventually sheered them off and drilled out before tackling the jobs.
    1 Coolant done ( including thermostat)✔️
    2 Oil and Filter done ✔️
    3. Air Filter done ✔️ ( where did you get your Filter from ? 😅 ).
    4 Spark plugs!!! WTF. Took one out and thought....they're OK and didn't bother. Absolutely no room whatsoever. Iridium plugs saved for next time 🤔.
    Was going to change break and clutch fluids but, yet again stripped one of thr screw heads. Another drill out required. I wish these problems were discussed guys.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad they were somewhat helpful! I got my air filter from freeman motorcycles. :) Glad you got most of the jobs done, the sparks are difficult like I said in the video but worth doing and having done. Just time consuming.
      I couldn't have discussed the issues you experienced as I didn't experience any of them :) I would recommend getting a JIS screw driver if you're stripping a lot of them as that might be playing a part. The brake fluid reservoir bolts are fairly common to rust if the bike is kept outside. Haven't had issues with the lower fairing bolts and I covered the difficulty level of all the jobs in the videos at the end! :) And guy I'm only one person! :)

    Been waiting for this video for a while now but can’t do the job as some fool T Boned me at very low speed. Only damage was left pannier scratched front left fairing and a few scratches on the fairing around the headlight, and a bent clutch leaver. Can’t believe insurance have gone for a unrepairable verdict. I’ve owned my cbf for 4 years really looked after it it still looked like a bike that was only 2-3 years old. I’m devastated.

    I've heard it is a bitch of a job to do, but this video has definitely given me some confidence!
    I own an 08 CBF1000. I purchased it 12 months ago. Has just shy of 60,000klm.
    It had sat for almost 5yrs, so the tank is full of flakey chunky rust 🤮, so I have to fix that issue, which I actually have the same tank restoration kit that you used on the Gixer tank. That video has also been a confidence booster.
    Considering I will be removing the tank to sort the rust issue, I may aswell change the plugs, air filter & possibly replace the fuel pump & filter also.
    The iridium plugs you used, what is the codes for them? Also do you have any idea where to purchase a new fuel pump for the CBF ?
    Any more tips or hints with the tank rust strip / re seal kit would be greatly appreciated also.
    Love the videos mate. Have a good one.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah like it's annoying but definitely not terrible or anywhere near the worst bike I've done.
      Very nice :) Small miles for these bikes really.
      Ahhhh balls. Rusty tanks are a pain, have a look for a used one too it might be easier if they're cheap.
      I'd change all of those but just inspect the pump and clean it, I think they're expensive enough so might be ok with a bit of attention.
      Yeah I can check the plug code later I also said it in the video was they were I think, out loud at some point.
      For the fuel pump if you want to search the code on cmsnl.com and then try eBay, or buy direct from cmsnl but they're expensive.
      Honestly, with the tank just patience, clean the living hell out of it, then clean it again :)
      Thanks man :)

      Head bearing can be an issue but also the CBF1000 just tends to shake, I changed the head bearings in mine and it helped but it never completely eliminated it, you can also raise up the back a bit, that also helps, but it does seem to just be a thing this bike has inherently.
