I’ve been playing piano for 18 years, and I really appreciate that you don’t spend a lot of time on music theory, just technique. Thanks for the clear instructions, too!
oh my goodness. ive just got a violin and watched your first video and i have never learned something so quickly. you explain everything so perfectly. i wamt to play irish music so badly lol xxx
Just got mine in and back from my violin guy. The only string giving me some kind of trouble is the E string. But I will rosin my bow better and do these scales with you tonight. Thank you so much for this! I’m so excited to learn.
Well my friend. In all my ministrations in playing along and trying to tune I broke my e string. Slapped me right in the chest. Hurt my skin and my pride! So I am going along with the first strings instead. I thank you for your help.
I tuned my e string too tight and broke it a while ago, I asked for a violin for Christmas a few years ago but never ended up using it after I got it, until one time I was tuning it to give it ago and broke it😂🤦🏼♀️ but I literally just ordered new strings for it and will try start again when I get them😂
I play most brass band instruments and used to play ukelele and guitar but only recently have I had a desire to have a go with a violin. I am 86 yrs of age so have no ambitions to be a great violinist so dont want to spend much on a violin ! Suggestions please ?😁
George, thanks for these videos. I’m 72 years old and started learning fiddle about three weeks ago. I’m really loving it, but I need some exercises to strengthen my old neck and shoulder muscles so I am not sore after practicing. Do you know any?
Hi George ! Glenn here. So i just got my first fiddle, how much time do you recommend to practice everyday. I'm 52 and have never played an instrument. But this hot me really excited. Thanks from Norway.
Hi Glenn, I don’t think it matters too much for you to practice a lot of hours in a row, consistency is the key, so how long is a sustainable amount you can do everyday? 20 mins a day is better than 3 hours in one day and none the rest of the week.
When I descend with the bow, the bow begins to shake and when I ascend I notice that my thumb and pointer finger stay on the bow but the other fingers lift up off the bow. How do I get my pointer finger to reach the G string? I can pretty much get the other two fingers on the G string, but it's the pointer finger that I have trouble with...any advice for an absolute beginner
I’ve been looking into getting a fiddle/violin I’m not the richest but I just need a beginner friendly violin/fiddle and I don’t know where to buy or what I’m looking for is there a website or any certain place I can look? (Im a minor working a part time job)
I slide my bow along the strings and when I get close to the frog, the bow begins to shake and the notes vibrate...am I holding the bow too loose? When I ascend with the bow, I notice that my thumb and pointer finger stay on the bow but the other fingers lift up off the bow...any advice?
I used to play when I was a teenager. I’m 29 now and have no idea how to anymore. I have wrist issues so I can’t play long but I’m so happy to find a free class that I can follow at my own pace :)

Question here :
I have a Note sticker on my Violin. Do I put my finger on the blue line also or do I just put on the alphabets only??

1CM basically is a wee bit under 1/2 inches.
I slide my bow along the strings and when I get close to the frog, the bow begins to shake and the notes vibrate...am I holding the bow too loose? When I ascend with the bow, I notice that my thumb and pointer finger stay on the bow but the other fingers lift up off the bow...any advice?
The scale part os messing me up i need a view of the hand from top so i can see where the fingers go
From what I've seen, using violin note stickers or finger tapes solves that issue. Finger tapes usage seems to be more accurate method.
I can't follow along. It isn't clear which string im supposed to be pressing when you demonstrate
Can't see exactly what your fingers are doing. No clear view. Also , you dont seem to be answering ppls questions often.
