THE KATAHAJIME HAS BEEN LOCKED IN!! SABU TAPS!!! SABU TAPS!! I always loved this submission. Glad it's still being utilized by MK McQuinnan from RevPro Wrestling
Ngl I only learned this after I saw this move in MGSV. Super difficult to do in no gi but I find that modifying the grip for the arm to something like a half Nelson works pretty well (for me at least).
Thank you for such a great explanation! I wanted to ask about a technical problem with this submission: the hand that grabs the opposite label and ends up pulling sometimes ends up on the Uke's trachea. Is there a method for avoiding that? Or, is that acceptable? Or, might I not have reaached deep enough with the thumb to grab the lapel? Pressing on the trachea is dangerous and painful for the Uke and sometimes causes him to start coughing violently.
I always learned with my other knee up. Let's say the way we do in the katame no Kata. Now there's a big space where uke can "turn" in. But that's my opinion
Cody McCarty yes. You would need to cup your opponents shoulder with the arm around the neck and use the same methodology shown in the video for the ‘wing’ arm. However, with the sweat involved in no-gi, it may be difficult. Possible, but difficult.
@@SampsonJudo ahhh ok I understand so it's like a one arm rear naked choke almost I'm learning jiujitsu and have someone I'm trying to meet with to teach me judo so I understand what your trying to say

This is not a problem. Coughing is normal when you are applying a Shime waza like this!
Everyone knows that Taz invented this move back at Barely Legal 98
It's ECW Barely Legal 1997.

Good example, I have my grading today and gotta revise for it.
Could this be used without a gi?

@@hvskyline1368 Yes, it would be something like that! Give it a try in training and see if it works for you.
@@SampsonJudo thank you
If Tazz can do it so can you!
Since nobody can answer my question i ask you guys: do you just create pressure on one atterie or on both?
When applied properly, both. Uke's left gi collar cuts off L artery, tori's R inside forearm cuts off R side
Isn’t the left hand supposed to grab the right side of the robe?
I believe you are referring to Okuri Eri Jime - sliding lapel strangle
I got here by seeing Marcelo Gracie record with the above submission mentioned on his record.
No gi version???
Hi Davi,
We will be moving on to no-gi tutorials at a later time, please keep posted!
