I remember when I speedran this as a kid out of fun. I saw a speedrun and I remember beeing extremely proud of beeing faster than the speedrunner in the first two levels of the game, but afterwards I got clapped.
I think it was Top 200 worldwide for the time, but I didn't know how to submit it and had nothing to prove it with.

Why go for the top half of the Flag Pole? Isn’t bottom would be faster? Or it’s doesn’t matter in this game?

@@CryTwink i always do 100% when i play a game the first time. (yes super meat boy included btw that is hell to 100%) Also i can beat the game in 46 minutes now and i was in this video looking for the fastest route.

The run is great, but I'm more impressed by the maxed out coin counter.
There are exploits to grind coins quickly, but it still takes like 15 hours, it's useful to stop the counter from ticking up though.

Question: In 1-Cannon you get a golden flower by doing the red ring. A golden flower can one shot bowser. Would it be faster to damage boost through the enemy in M-2 And save the flower to one shot bowser?

I’ve ran this game and it is not as easy as it looks. Despite only having to do about 3-4 worlds. Now I don’t understand the strat of getting 2000 at every flagpole, I usually aim for the bottom to minimize the amount of time it takes Mario to reach the castle. Can somebody fill me in?

My favorite level to speed run is world 1 level 3
I once completed the first level in under 25 seconds
You probably used a star in reserve then. Fastest possible time without star is 32 seconds.

I see, looks like the footage froze for 0.1s, as well as the timer. It's some sort of lag with the capture card or the internet, if I was trying to cheat there's no reason why someone would do it in the middle of a level compared to a loading zone. Thx

M-2 the best Level
maybe you could've saved a bit of time in the doors of ghosthouse? I'm curious because i think you could've saved a little bit of time since the doors can be opened from not even half body in front of the door. Or maybe i'm just wrong lol
They can be opened from the edge, but when you do that mario has an animation where he walks up to the center first before walking in, so it's better to run to the center then enter. Edge doors are better for ILs since IGT doesn't count up there.
