    Most cards have a circle around their ink cost. The ones that have that are the cards you can use for ink. Before playing a card as ink, be sure to show what card you are turning to ink, that way your opponent(s) know you are not cheating and using a card without that proper symbol.
    Other than that, great introductory video!

      Thanks! While I try to explain how the game works in the first half, I sometimes cut some rules to shorten the time, as a How to Play would be a more complete understanding of the rules. One of the reasons Detective Mickey was the "enemy card" in the explanation was I used him during a more comprehensive ink explanation, such as you said and how cards could be added to your inkwell through abilities, but you can never know what those are. However, due to the length of the video, I decided to cut that segment hoping I could still get the feel of the gameplay across. I still appreciate you pointing it out, as I hope those who are newer to the game can still see your comment if they are looking for any rule clarifications.

    I love that you addressed Pokemon and MTG's flawed resource system. I can't put that stuff on blast enough! A third of your deck is resource, a third is accommodating diluting your deck with resources, then the final third (assuming all are 60 card decks) is your actual deck. Growing up I went from MTG to Pokemon to DBZ/GT as my main CCGs, and that last one was amazing! Made it so hard to go back to the other two. I'm happy most CCGs don't have resource cards like that.

      Its really one of the oldest answers to the flow of resources in card games, and its very easy to spot how games that came after try to deal with the flaws of that system.

    Just an FYI, the disclosure should read "its publisher" and "several".

    I love this game and I want all the cards .and it’s Disney easy buy in but not cheap

    So it’s September 4th and there isn’t a card anywhere.

    • @RollforCrit

      Big box stores don't always stock the card products on the exact release date. That said, I think its just as likely they've already sold through their product. Hopefully the reprint wave will help make the game more available.

      @@RollforCrit yeah I’m not really in a hurry since I was able to order all the starter packs at least.

    Isn't that resource system a copy of the World of Warcraft TCG? They even went a step further with quests that gave special effects when played as resource. Loved that system

      Well, some same people were involved in those games, I believe.

    Sounds like the game was made simple for a younger target audience. I'd expect new mechanics in new sets but the core rules are simple and I don't expect complex interactions. Which is to say: this game doesn't have crunch. I prefer a lighter card game but the MTG Johnnies out there won't touch this. Not having a reason to hold cards in hand sounds like there's low interaction (which is a con but not that bad). "The last few turns are top decking" is a logical consequence of "most cards can be ink" and "use everything you got". Drawing cards would help but it'd be hard to limit to late game (and would be too powerful early game). But if the game ends shortly after running out of hand then everything is fine anyway.

      I had liked the look of the defunct Wizards of Mickey CCG (2008) which had multiple colors. This time Disney decided to not have colored energy but still have colored cards (max 2) which is a better idea since it still has factions for the sake of deck building but doesn't have "mana screwed" issue for having the wrong color. I also like how they used terms to avoid words like "kill", "wound", etc in order to lower the age rating (unlike MTG which has some PG-13 art).

    • @SkySpiral7_Lets_play
      @SkySpiral7_Lets_play ปีที่แล้ว

      My biggest concern is solo play. The only way to win is by tapping which prevents that card from challenging and challenging doesn't give you any lore. So the game disincentivizes challenging and since that's the main way to interact the game might become solo which is unhealthy to the community (makes a game feel pointless to some).

    • @RollforCrit
      @RollforCrit  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sure one of the biggest concerns in the design is the game becoming a race of who can play the most characters and wait until they can quest for 20 lore in one turn.

    • @SkySpiral7_Lets_play
      @SkySpiral7_Lets_play ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RollforCrit yeah that'd be an issue. Elsa can tap an enemy so that you can attack but that's just 1 character. I watched a match and there's characters that get a bonus while attacking. Beyond that the reason for combat is card advantage: can I trade my low lore characters for your really good characters?

    Too bad you can't buy or play any of these games since they are running twice the price on the after market as they were when they released last week. Disgusting.

      You are not alone in the hunt for Lorcana. They just announced another print wave hoping to bring prices back to MSRP. Unfortunately it wont be coming until after Chapter 2, which will be released in November.

    I humbly disagree, I don't like Disney at all, but the mechanics are what draw me in.
    The singel greatest strength (flaw to eliet tcg players), is there aren't many timing issues (you don't play on opponents turn) and has a very chess like feeling.
    I feel this game is subtly challenging in that way, and easily missed by pro and casual players at first glance.

    • @RollforCrit
      @RollforCrit  ปีที่แล้ว

      Timing is definitely something I would of loved to focused on more, but the video was to long as it is. The timing in Disney is much more friendly to ones own plays, and therefore to newer audiences. No one likes trying to play a card only for your opponent to utter the words "in response..." (I'm looking at you Blue MTG players). However I've seen the same thing happen in the Digimon TCG, where there were almost no ways to act outside your turn (Baring security checks). They recently added a new keyword called ACE which allows you to play cards outside your turn. Its been interesting to see how people have responded to it, some saying its what the game needs, other disappointed as this complicates and lengthens game times as you need to check with your opponent for reactions. Will Lorcana ever add that down the line? I don't know, but I doubt it will be within its first year. I feel it will only be added if there comes a point where there are strategies that just become so strong because you cannot interrupt them during their turn.

    Friendly local games stores...please. They are the worst scalpers near me right now. So Friendly.

    • @RollforCrit
      @RollforCrit  ปีที่แล้ว

      I wish I could say that's a aberration, but just as I have found stores that have earned the Friendly adjective, I have been in some that most certainly did not care for that.

    I don’t think people are talking about what you’d have to spend to get a full color deck aside from the scalping

    • @RollforCrit
      @RollforCrit  ปีที่แล้ว

      Its probably going to take until the second wave in September before we see more solidified prices for cards. Hopefully this will put singles at a much lower price point (at least based on the values I am seeing right now).

      @@RollforCrit I’m
      Just saying if you want all 120 cards of a particular color it’s going to cost you a lot retail to buy a a starter deck a booster box and hope you get all the 120 cards released at this time . Your definitely going to want a Disney playmat and probably a binder and now I guess I’d want the boxes too. Pretty large investment at retail to play a simple game. Also considering you need enough cards to play head to head. Thanks for the review
