This is both heartwarming and so sweet to listen to, a marriage of purely Arabian Gulf traditional music with European composition made by very creative musical mind 🎶
Absolutely breathtaking music.. especially the part where you include Arab melodies and traditional music. thank you for composing and sharing it with the world.. now i must see it live
Great stuff Dana! I remember hearing you compose wonderful tunes on the piano decades ago when you used to play at the Dana Club. Keep sharing your journey and story!
I came here to listen to the band and statyed because the gentleman who was singing in arabic! what is his name? si she a singer? Anway great job all, very touching!
Its a traditional way of singing during fishing n diving trips which normally lasted 6 months in the 18 n 19 centuries in this region.. the singer used to encourage the sailers by singing to keep on going .. normally singer with a couple banging those jars the singer was called NAHHAM.. singer is qatari al Merri family.
Great composition; however I see here the paradox we live in: music of the Arab/Islamic world has evolved since the 7th century, actually up to the 16th, when mankind/human development has been passed over to the west; Whereas here that old world is invited to play besides the modern world, but downgraded to its smallest/earliest artefact. This cut-downsize move is at play in everything; here we see it beautifully in music; So in addition to the performance, thank you also for the allegory. Please note I am not sarcastic here; in fact I relate very much to your music in general.
The only annoying thing about this music is the orientalist music. Why not Arabic music? Why do you always have to approach our culture and art from your perspective and not ours?
He is a Naham not a singer and he sounds very good to me. It's a different kind of art that you should really understand the culture and the words to feel it.
@@Elboushi3 Well said, Mohammed. The art of 'nahma' is very unique to the Gulf region, and it is by no means meant to be 'bel canto'. These vocal ornamentations are detailed and are inherited down from one generation to the other, and the musical intervals are ancient, as I am sure you know.
