In fairness the story is about saving the world as we know it, vs telling the story of a bitter old Wizard doing a remodel project way high up in his tower. That would be a funny skit, Sauron, the greatest wizard ever, keeps messing up building a pedestal for his seeing orb thingy, and it keeps breaking and his orb falls and hits the ground, then it rolls, he can't find it, but the other orbs can see what he is doing. Then he later he's shown singing Taylor Swift, that footage is recorded via the other orbs, then its used to bribe Sauron into giving up the ring of power. Wow that went off the rails quickly.

I think the instruction to remove ties was meant for shop teachers. I remember a story from shop class about a teacher (probably around 1972) who got his tie caught in a jointer. All was well in the end; the closest his face got to the blades was about an inch.

I think my new bucket list item is karaoke with Mike Farrington. Not in a creepy, parasocial way. More like a, he seems like a fun guy to do karaoke with sort of way. Great project. Great video.

I noticed the moments of what I'll call wobbulating when you're using the forstner bits. (rotating the axis of the drill bit in tiny circles) I'm going to try to remember that -- I've developed a bad habit of only using the drill press when drilling with forstners, since going whole-hog at once (using the regular power drill) can result in some unpleasant tear-out. Seems like that technique of yours fixes that problem, and I won't have to spend extra time setting up the drill press.
    Great vid as always. Thanks!

Yeah, it helps prevent tear out at the start, and helps a dull bit feed a little better.

Mike, your content is so good but I'm rather surprised that you only have 213 thousand subscribers. This kind of quality content should have millions!

Nice build, Mike. It's great that the apprentice is still proud of you. Use a 0.005" or 0.010" shim and show us a 0.015" shim (lol). Good to see you again. I also like the way you can suck the glue back into the bottle. That's handy if you make a mistake (lol).

Mike, you should not hold anything against Maine people especially since you bought that fancy No.4 Brass smoother plane. I have paid a visit to the Lie Nielson store on my trip to Maine last summer and i could not resist the temtation to buy one myself. It was screaming my name right there on the shelf.

Nice detail on the glue removal. That´s how you do it, too many people just smear it into the wood (which still removes most of the glue) which makes the product worse.
