  • Jeffery Piao from the School of Accountancy at the University of Missouri discusses his latest paper, "Investor-firm private interactions and informed trading: Evidence from New York City taxi patterns."
This study uses a novel taxi traffic measure to identify when institutional investors seek on-site meetings with portfolio firms and how these private interactions enhance the informativeness of their trading decisions. Findings indicate that these meetings help shape expectations and provide investment advantages, especially in firms with opaque information environments.
