I just bought 2 of these plants. Can I keep them in pots and not trim them? I lived in Barbados and my mom had one in her front yard. It grew up to 6-7 ft we never trimmed it. It was a beautiful tree.

I bought my first two jubilation gardenias last week. I’m in zone 9b Deep South Texas. I ended up planting mine along the side of my house but they have been turning brown. 😭 I don’t know if it’s just shock or what. Should I move them away from my house and put them in full Texas sun?
Not sure but I can tell you that acid loving plants, like gardenias, will never thrive when planted near masonry or concrete. It keeps the pH too high for them to absorb nutrients. I would move them to a very bright, broken shade spot away from the house.
Recently purchased a Veitchii Gardenia with promising signs of flower buds. It is potted in a large well draining pot with moderate sun and shade. Buds have shriveled up and no new signs of buds. Thoughts? Possible solutions to get her to bloom? Thank you in advance
This is just a guess, but usually when plants drop leaves, fruit or flowers, it is a sign of being too wet. Also, when plants change locations, for example from a nursery to your house, they may go through a period of adjustment. I have been very successful with the 8 -10-10 Lesco fertilizer from Home Depot. But be careful, use tiny amounts, it is hot. Be sure and watch the tour of “My Tropical Yard” on the channel.
DK, but they would certainly need to be covered during a freeze. Also, very heavy feeders, especially right now while they are blooming. I'm having good results with 10-10-10, cheap stuff, from Home Depot, just watch out cuz it's hot.

Yes, it is in broken shade. But, most of the flowers are on the southern side. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I was the manager of a nursery at the corner of Old Cutler road and Southwest 168th Street, Richmond drive. It was called macaws and it was 18 acres

I have a large one in my yard. It forms big beautiful buds, but they fall off before blooming! Its very disappointing.

The pot has nothing to do with it. Any plant can be “forced” to flower with the right conditions. Thanks for watching and commenting.
