I would usually say restore back to factory correct. but this car when you guys brought it in and how bad it was. holy crap, he going spend a lot of money on it, might as well do it the way you want.
Love this build. Im 70, and can't remember never having anything but a Mopar in the driveway growing up. I owned a red 68 GTX 440, 4 barrel, but my first love was the 69 Charger. Then the Datona and Superbird. Carry on boy's.
It's got the 440 and it's an R/T It's black and at Nick's Garage there ain't no slack The craftsmen at Nick's know exactly what where and how to affix Plus they got a whole bag of oldschool and newschool tricks If you wanna race Nick's Garages applications will keep you ahead of any chase Or if you wanna cruise you can't lose From so many options Nick will help you choose On anything Nick can advise and the cars he builds will open your eyes Peace Love and Muscle cars All truth no lies Nick's Garage turnin the tides Good vibes All the best for 2025's ! Thanks Nick Robert George and the whole team
That is not an easy trade, very few guys ever master that art. I was a road man for Standard Auto Glass for nearly 40 years. It sounds like you have a love for the trade and have taken the interest to learn all you can, it can be very rewarding career. Best of luck to you.
A LOT OF WORK!!! But so worth it after seeing how far she's come already! I don't think many places would have taken this project on... And do such an amazing change
Great work as always Nick! I have a small story.. In my first 318 Dart, I had to slam the brakes one time to avoid a collision. I didn't know the trans mount was shot.. The engine moved forward about an inch and the clutch fan spun into the back of my brand new three row radiator, ruining it. Prevented the wreck but ruined the radiator. 300 bucks in 1983 and learned a lesson about replacing three mounts before buying a new radiator. Seeing the a/c clutch near that fan reminded me of that for some reason.
Dana "60" Glass. I'm glad this is not going to be a 1000 point show car, but a very detailed, sharp car that will be driven the way it was meant for. I've helped bring a few GM A bodies back from the dead, mainly Buicks. That's how I can appriciate the work that you guys put into these machines. Amazing quality!
I remember my big old Charger with front drums would get one good hard stop from speed, try it again right away and and you'd be heading for the weeds! With all that power & weight a disk-brake conversion is the way to go unless you don't actually drive the car or want a perfect factory "paint-mark" restoration. Keep up the great work, Nick & crew.😊
My 72 Olds Cutlass was the same. You could make a hard stop and sit there with your foot on the brake pedal and feel the brake pedal push back up as the brake drums cooled. That car got me in the habit of not using the brakes unnecessarily. My wife has fussed at me for 37 years because I let off the gas well before I get to an intersection. I have often been able to make a turn at an intersection without using the brakes. My cars go about twice as far on a set of brakes as hers.
I had (the 'misfortune' of owning) a 71 maverick with front drums. That brake pedal would be hard as a rock when fade had set in. One time, I came down a long hill in the town where I lived, and I was literally STANDING on the brake pedal and BARELY got the car stopped at the bottom!!!
Man, the black diamond is really a GEM, and it isn't even FINISHED yet!!! As a person who has always loved building things, watching Nick and crew rebuild/restore these classics is truly amazing, and George, your awesome video production work allows us viewers to experience every phase and step!!! Kudos to ALL at Nick's garage!!!
Sure is a LOT OF HARD WORK building brand new old Car.......Thank you NICK,RABEL.MANNY. & George the awesome camera guy...... Old Vietnam war F-4 Phantom pilot Shoe🇺🇸
EXCELLENCE AT IT'S FINEST!!! Your team does AMAZING work Nick! It truly is a Black Diamond. Stephan has a BEAUTIFUL car, thanks to your team and of course George and his body shop. You too George the camera guru!
The owner of that car has a rare gem and the money invested in that car is well spent. My first car was a 1971 Dodge Charger with a 440 magnum with a six pack, manual four gear and Dana rear end. That car was not the same body type of this one but had many similar parts. As far as I am concerned that car was the ultimate driving experience. When that person decides to take his car for an evening drive on a lone highway he will be in heaven.
I'm right in the middle of putting together a Pro Street '69 Charger, and just had the headliner installed. Similar situation as this '70; older guy, almost 70 years old, been doing it for decades, really knows his trade. One hitch, though: a full roll cage tucked up tight to the ceiling and completely in the way. When he finished and it was time to pay the bill, he added a "roll cage surcharge" for all the contorting and head banging he went through. 😅 Glad to pay it; he did a great job. Love, love, love B-body Mopars, especially '68-'69.
Im restoring my dads 1971 chrysler new yorker 2dr HT with a 440 TNT. Body was in great shape. Now just need to put everything back in and on the chrysler. Will be finished this, year.
hi nick good ep its nice to see you and robert giving details on what you did with the car. Also nice to see Ivan working to put the head liner inside he is so good at what he does.
Beautiful job on the bodywork. Another wonderful job on parts installation. Just premo work. It's all very very impressive. It's also nice to hear Robert clearly with the new microphone. I can't wait to see the finished product.
Wow! Yeah Nick, you and your team of talented men are truly blessed and I'm truly blessed as well to get an opportunity to watch this assembly education in action and I am so glad that I'm subscribed to your channel!!
Hard to believe it’s come this far. From a lump of coal to the black diamond it is now. The factory put them together in less than a day. But they don’t have to fix 55 years of abuse , rust and neglect. Look forward to seeing it . Great job guys .
Thanks Nick, George and Robert for a great Monday video I like watching Robert explaining the work he has done. details, nothing slips through the cracks his work is top-notch 😊
Robert is one of those rare people that takes so much care and pride in his work. Nick is very fortunate to have both Robert and Manny as his regular crew.
White vinyl roof down south helps keep you just that little bit cooler. First gen Barracudas with the big rear window were infamous for cooking their inhabitants.
I was hoping for a bit more detail on the headliner install. The nitty gritty stuff is a bit scarce on the web. Especially the separate rear sail panels that finish off the back part. Beautiful car!
Appreciated this video immensely Ty Nick & Crew for always something unique and cool to see! Cheers🍻 to continued health, happiness & success friends 🤝✌️💫
Thanks for the update Nick, you & your Team certainly no their stuff as its coming along nicely. Stephan is going to be one real lucky man once this Charger is finished Nick. George your filming of this Charger has been second to non all the way through thus far along with your added commentary. Have a beaut week Nick & everyone.
Nice frame work!!!! Properly fabricating/installing a clutch pedal set-up into an automatic car is something not very many can do correctly these days. Those skills are going away fast. Most are going with hydraulic set-ups. The spirit of the mighty Rat Fink lives on at Nick's!
Saved one lug nut, and built a new car around it! Good job!
That's how we roll, haha!
I would usually say restore back to factory correct. but this car when you guys brought it in and how bad it was. holy crap, he going spend a lot of money on it, might as well do it the way you want.
Don't forget the most important part: the VIN tag !! Buy the tag and build a car around it. 😊😅
What an incredible journey for Nick and his team. Stefan must be so excited - made the way HE wants it!
Love this build. Im 70, and can't remember never having anything but a Mopar in the driveway growing up. I owned a red 68 GTX 440, 4 barrel, but my first love was the 69 Charger. Then the Datona and Superbird.
Carry on boy's.
Thank you
The clock passing time while Ivan was working is very cool, I liked it alot ! This show rocks !! Let the good times roll !!
Love these overhead drone shots - really shows off how many cars are being restored in the 'little shop just north of Montreal'!

Thanks Roberto, for being here. Your automotive rhymes always bring good cheer.

Overcapitalised on this project but it’s his money (or his inheritance!) Very few original panels were left on this project.
Really enjoy watching your station professionally done beautiful restoration. That’s the only way at Nick’s garage from San Diego California.
Thank you for watching from San Diego.
Another great episode, thanks George, Nick and Robert (and Ivan!). 🚙 💨 🇨🇦 🇺🇸 🇬🇷 🇦🇺 🇬🇧 🇸🇪 🇫🇷

It was nice to see Ivan’s work on time lapse at the end of this video. Ivan is a true craftsman at that particular niche of vehicle restoration.
His work is truly impressive. We hoped that showing the hours and hours it takes would help to tell the story.

I can see the design/pattern in the Headliner that my dad's 68 Polara used to have.
As usual you guys produce a fantastic show thanks guys
Glad you enjoy it!
White vinyl roof down south helps keep you just that little bit cooler. First gen Barracudas with the big rear window were infamous for cooking their inhabitants.

Probably better than new. Sure the O.E.M in 1970 they did not paint undercarriage and was prone to corrosion
Very nice!! Thanks for sharing!!
Black diamond is awesome! Plus I got to see kowalski this week!
Looks great !! Gotta love clean, new parts .. no rust or dirt whew
Right on.
Way to go I'm a MOPAR MAN had a 69 PLYMOUTH ROAD RUNNER WANTED TO BUILD A 1968 HEMI DART👍💯
Everything that passes through the frame rails, should have bushings to prevent wear.
Awesome car! Beautiful job!👍

Hey there! Thanks for watching.
That car is just plain bad to the bone😊😊👍👍
Simply amazing

This car was located in Texas, was it not? It must have spent its life on the Gulf coast. It’s a miracle to see where it is now
Correct, it was in Texas
