What I like is that there seems to be an even volume level all around the neck. I love my K&K Bass Max, but it tends to drop dip in volume high up on the D and G stings. Love hear them both together. Thank you for a great demonstration.
very helpful demonstration thanks and what a nice play ! a good option for me as i’m looking for clarity and good pitch to cut threw the horn section i’m playing with.
I lately acquired my first double bass. Hand crafted, painted no CNC cut - wood but just totally human done one. I want to fix a pickup and this helped a lot. Thanks
I absolutely LOVE my Krivo pickup. I am an actively gigging string bassist and I was sick of dealing with feedback and the crappy clattering sound that piezo pickups make. I pair my krivo equipped string Bass with an Acoustic Image amp and 2-10” cabinet and I get a great string bass sound that is loss enough to accompany a seven piece swing band. There is no doubt that the sound is a string bass and there is no piezo fret noise. Maybe some reviewers have been hearing bad piezo amplification for so long that they have forgotten that is not how a string bass should sound. Get a Krivo and leave the stress of feedback and constantly adjusting your EQ behind. You know whose string bad sounds better amplified than mine? Nobody.i haven't heard one yet. Check out "Swing Theory" videos to hear it in action with the band.
The upright bass is versatile enough on its own, but adding a pickup like this opens up SOOO much to what it could do & where it could be played! Edit: Also, with the bow it sounds so electronic! With some extra weird effects on top it could sound really trippy! Haha!
I like condenser mics! I found that a very small condenser mic to be worn on a shirt, make sure it is rated for C1 at 32.703hz or even lower depending on if you have a Low C or B or a standard 4 string. It will need a battery in the plug to use a sound system. stuff it in a block of open poor foam rubber and stuff it in an F hole. The only what I know mine works is I can still hear my bass over a noisy room!
Hi. Sorry to not have to read all comments. What does it give in terms of efficiency a magnetic microphone with metal strings rounded but synthetic inside (Eva Pirazzi Slap). I read that performance is going down significantly. What do you think ?
Shades of Eberhard Weber here on the solo piece. I can’t recall you addressing one of my most important features: how feedback resistant or not resistant the pickup is on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being least feedback resistant, to 10 being the most feedback resistant. Thanks!
It's extremely feedback-resistant compared to just about any other solution for an upright. That isn't to say that a loud monitor or being too close to a subwoofer won't give me fits occasionally, but it is better than _any_ other solution I was able to find for rockabilly.
Great video, I'm on my path to get back to upright after 11(!) years of break and I will need a pick up soon. My teacher made similar pick up out of Fender Precision and the sound was pretty similar to the sound I heard on your test. Some people hate it, some appreciate the easiness of installing it on the instrument and not having to deal with the feedback. I have to admit I didn't like the sound of the pick up only, but with the sound coming from the room mic the bass sounded very good. BTW, have you ever seen, or tried to figure out what Aladar Pege was using on his bass? It seems to me like he had one of these "custom" designed magnetic pick ups and his bass sounded fantastic with it. Not to mention that while I was listening to his brilliant playing, with every minute I cared less and less about what he was using to amplify his bass. Again, thanks for the video!
It really sounds an awful lot like a fretless electric guitar on it's own. It's good with the mic added but don't know if I love it on its own. That said, I haven't found a pickup that really can capture an upright bass so I could see getting used to this. The impedance factor is also intriguing so that's a plus. But that extremely direct sound is a little jarring. Thanks for the demo though!
Aw come on, play the theme from Barney Miller. Then play that Popeye tune like you used to... Nice pick up, it must make recording much nicer as well as live and loud.
Awesome professional presentation
After years struggling with loud bands I finally found a pickup
Phenomenal playing too. Love your tone/sound!

Great playing and smart adjustable pole and mounting location for that mellow jazz tone.

It sounds a bit like a Fretless P-Bass that the great Jaco Pastorius played.

Love that tune “Stella.” Nicely played. Your bass looks a lot like my old Gagliano violin.
Love the sound! Fantastic review.
Had one for years, going back to it.
I absolutely LOVE my Krivo pickup. I am an actively gigging string bassist and I was sick of dealing with feedback and the crappy clattering sound that piezo pickups make. @@timishormusic5526 More like a Fretless P-Bass

This pickup does also give you a splash of that Jaco Pastorius Vibe.

Do you have any examples of a combination of this pickup with a piezo pickup blended as well? Thanks for the post!
Blending the Krivo with a mic or piezo may be a good idea
Hi, are those stick-on markers on your fingerboard or inlays?
Great video!! I'm sold!!!
I hope they make another upright bass pickup for the 5 string upright bass, too.
just got my Krivo yesterday , and i use Zyex strings. It still sounds magnetic, maybe a little too much so. Any suggestions?
It also sounds good with the subwoofer 🔊 on.

Uau cara ! Voçe toca bem o contra baixo. gosto do som do Krivo . Parabéns
hello adam, how it works with slap technique?
Sounds like a fretless bass guitar not a double bass
excellent and very helpful
Awesomeness ......Very Nice
What were you using as a backing track?
The tune Stella By Starlight!
Polar Lights - A Symphony for Whales !!
Aw come on, play the theme from Barney Miller. Then play that Popeye tune like you used to... Nice pick up, it must make recording much nicer as well as live and loud.
Since about 1983.
Sounds like an electric bass.... :( definitely not for me. Cheers!
All of them sound like that
NHØP used Wilson pick ups and not a krivo style pick up
