To find out, the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire programme has organised a series of election blind dates for the general election campaign.
Businessman Peter Stringfellow, who runs a strip club in London, is a Conservative Party supporter, while historian, feminist and TV presenter Mary Beard says she is left-wing and proud.

Mary you are one of my favourite people to listen to. However to say you have a hard time in Cambridge is a bit of a joke having worked in that environment. Its privileged and to put it mildly snobbish. You attract good grants and never have to fight about your identity. Your politics are well meaning, but Peter is correct at the end of the day you rely on money being generated and you directly benefit from commerce. It takes all kinds of us to make this world and you judged Peter and people like him as being ‘bad’ in doing so you alienate alternatives instead of accepting that we can all live together in peace and respect. Peter on the other hand needed to pay you the respect of also understanding that academics also make our life richer. Politics serves those that want to divide us into tribes for very good reason; they are individuals who seek power and often that is destructive at our cost. Your meeting showed this, because what really lit you both up was wanting to understand one another as people.

Insulting overweight women and treating them as valueless. They cannot enter his night clubs - or couldn't. I have not bothered to keep checking. So if their appearance does not appeal to him, they CAN'T enter his clubs. Great feminist.
If he had done anything of any value to earn his money, he might have a degree of respect.
Mary does create jobs. She has TV series based on her work and earns money in book publishing She teaches students who also work in teaching, universities, who also write books and probably do an occasional TV series. She actually increases the knowledge of the average TV viewer. What does that vile old man contribute?
And his contribution to society is a huge blank.

He’s not in her league, in any way imaginable. Then to put a guy who obviously invests in plastic surgery (note the grotesque “Joker” mouth) next to the completely, happily “au naturel” Mary Beard is so incongruous it makes my brain hurt.
Stringfellow hit this perfectly when he said that her view of feminism is not truly about giving women choice, it's about women making choices Mary agrees with. She typifies everything which is wrong with modern Feminism.

It's ridiculous for anyone to suggest that Peter's wife has married him primarily for his money. It's very common for women in their mid-thirties to find 77 year old men irresistible.

Really sorry to hear that Peter passed away today. A proper character, total legend and of a generation that thankfully didn't have to deal with all the PC cultural Marxism, that's infected society today. Roguish, cheeky and an unabashed, unashamed lover of ladies, leather and leopard-print budgie-smugglers, even Mary had to smile and blush girlishly at the odd moment during this 'date'. They just don't make them like Pete anymore.

What people would say to Mary about her Hair and Teeth is they look worn and not well maintained, and she could look just like Peter if she placed more pride in her appearance, the difference between the grey woman and grey man here is one looks after their appearance and the other does not.
The world judges everyone regardless of who you are, and if you want to be seen as a distinguished older lady then you have to put the effort in and not look like you are an old stay at home cat lady who doesn't look after themselves.
The yellow teeth is the result of improper care, either by smoking or drinking staining products like Red Wine and Coffee and then not cleaning them twice a day.
Her stance here is "Im not interested in earning money, I just want to live comfortable" and that's perfectly fine, I'm the same. What Peter did with his life was be a money maker and provider for his family, but he's also providing employment for thousands of people. She is looking after herself and that's it, he's responsible for his family and thousands of others he doesn't owe a thing to, so which one of them is actually providing more good to the country?
This is what people don't see, they don't see that a business man employs hundreds and or thousands of people meaning they get to feed their families, they just see them as people who make lots of money and keep it from others.
Its not right to demand others spend their hard earned cash on others, no one has a right to Peter Stringfellow's fortune or businesses except for those he designated in his Will. He's put in the work to make lots of money and no one but him should decide how its spent.
Loopholes however as he mentioned do need fixing, you cannot blame someone for taking advantage of a system that's got flaws, they didn't put those flaws in there.
