The real comedy in Seinfeld comes from the supporting characters, which were performed and written by others. It really crystallises when you watch his solo stuff. I mean Bee Movie is just bizarre. The guy is a hack, who found success by coming up with unfunny material that was a snapshot of the time he wrote it, and everyone knows it.
The other night I was working my job at an old folks home and they were actually playing this movie for the residence. It was the most silent theater I’ve ever seen. And the only words from the guy who usually turns on the movie was that the movie was a complete waste of time
Larry David evolved the “show about nothing”, into Curb Your Enthusiasm because Seinfeld was never about Jerry, it was always about Larry David. Jerry had nothing to evolve too after Seinfeld, that’s why he made The Bee Movie.

See this one was really odd cause I listened to them describe this movie and I was like man, some of these gags do actually sound kinda funny as described, they can't be that bad. Then I watched some clips, and my god is all the humor just sucked out of them by actually being acted out, not even a slight smile while watching them

I lived in NYC during the 90s. Every once in a while i'd catch part of a Seinfeld episode. Part of an episode because I disliked the show so much. I thought then that, why would I waste my time watching a television show that replicates the reality I lived everyday. NYC is the land of the narcissists. Every day, toxic individuals struggled to be crowned the king or queen of the narcissists. That's what Seinfel episode felt like -- toxic people seeking to prove they're better than everyone. And the show presented its star as a cool guy that gorgeous women wanted to date. Who did Jerry have to blow to get that gig? And now he's running interference for a genocide! Yeah, Jerry Seinfeld is a humanitarian!
You’re giving credit to the wrong guy, it was never Jerry’s show, it was always Larry David’s. Even the characters are based on people Larry knew personally, not Seinfeld. The problem was that Larry viewed himself a writer, not an actor, when it came time to cast it. It took a long time for him to feel comfortable in front of the camera & that’s also why Curb wasn’t a traditional style sitcom, it was easier for Larry to be on camera if it was more of a improvised feeling, handheld camera setup. Curb proved to be the funnier show with Larry David as the star, it lasted a quarter century. If Larry had played the lead in Seinfeld, it probably would have lasted longer than 9 years. Seinfeld also declined in quality once Larry left the show in the 7th season. Larry was always the comedy genius behind both shows but with Curb lasting 2.5 times longer, it kind of shows you who was behind the success & it wasn’t Jerry.
Virtually everything that made that show good came from Larry David, a misanthrope himself, but a misanthrope who hated himself just as much as he hated everyone else. I’ve never heard Jerry say one self-deprecating thing in the 40 years he’s been in the public eye.

I remember watching whatever comedy round table show that he did with Ricky Gervais, Louis CK, and Chris Rock... And he was arguing with Ricky Gervais about whether comedians should care about whether or not their comedy encourages or fosters bigotry and harm to others. And I remember Gervais getting worked up and upset with Seinfeld because Seinfeld was saying that he didn't really care or feel in any way responsible if anything he did had an impact that lead to real harm to people or vulnerable groups in society. I remember it being something along those lines... that was certainly the jist of what I got from it. Anyway, Seinfeld is a POS. For real.

Jason Alexander playing a facsimile of Larry David as George Constanza was the centerpiece, with strong support from Michael Richards and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Whereas Jerry is funny precisely because he's so banal. His profession is a comedian, but he is the straight man within the group dynamic.

The thing I most remember Bill Hicks for isn't a bit he did, it's at the end of one of his specials (he actually did it multiple times) where he says we should take the money we spend on war and use it to explore space. He definitely had a positive view of humanity. He believed in us more than we do now.
Lost all credibility in the critique when describing the Michael Richards appearance on the Tonight Show: It happened on Letterman, not Leno, and Seinfeld was very reserved in the uncomfortable situation where he was trying to correct the audience, not seething with venom. He was trying to rehabilitate a dear friend. It's okay to make your point, no need to lie in order to do so.
Man, I don't know, I'd just call it a difference of interpretation. Chapo does this a lot, they aren't directly lying, but they seem to read bad faith into a TON of situations where that bad faith isn't entirely warranted. But in this scenario, I'm on their side. I think you take comedy more seriously than the participating comedians did and it’s to your detriment. What? You couldn’t find anything amusing in this badly flawed movie? Not a turn of phrase? A look? You couldn’t enjoy seeing Jack Bryer? Why because the movie didn’t take full advantage of his gifts? To quote Bargatze, “I won’t live like that. I remember watching whatever comedy round table show that he did with Ricky Gervais, Louis CK, and Chris Rock... And he was arguing with Ricky Gervais about whether comedians should care about whether or not their comedy encourages or fosters bigotry and harm to others. And I remember Gervais getting worked up and upset with Seinfeld because Seinfeld was saying that he didn't really care or feel in any way responsible if anything he did had an impact that lead to real harm to people or vulnerable groups in society. I remember it being something along those lines... that was certainly the jist of what I got from it. Anyway, Seinfeld is a POS. For real.

He was trying to rehabilitate a dear friend. It's okay to make your point, no need to lie in order to do so.

Chapo does this a lot, they aren't directly lying, but they seem to read bad faith into a TON of situations where that bad faith isn't entirely warranted. But in this scenario, I'm on their side. A look? You couldn’t enjoy seeing Jack Bryer? Why because the movie didn’t take full advantage of his gifts? To quote Bargatze, “I won’t live like that. I’ve worked too hard not to do afrin in my own home.” If you meet this movie 75% of the way it will bring some modicum of joy into your life. Or you can be clever, it’s your choice.
