this is happening all over the world. Here in NYC/Brooklyn om my street Schermerhorn St when I moved here in 2008 my bldg and a parking lot. Now there are ten apartment bldgs.
Zik/zed was my best mate at school and apparently living amongst us working class people and going to school with us was the worst experience of his life ( his own words) so I'm very surprised to see him make a movie where he seems to be saying the opposite of his supposed actual real life experience about the very working class old style residents he supposedly hated growing up. So which one is it Zik/Zed?
Since this film was made, I think Hoxton has become a ghost town due to the pandemic, working from home & the exodus from London for larger properties. If working from home becomes permanent, it will exacerbate the situation for that community & its economy.
I remember the 1980's when the docklands closed down and became the HSBC and other high rise glass buildings. The dockers said that 4000 jobs were being lost. Nowadays that same area employs 22000 people in banking, insurance and money markets, and those that work there are the sons and daughters of the old dockers. All money and polish with limited depth and culture.
The funeral at the beginning was my beautiful aunt francesca deeply missed an loved 💚
Most wonderful film
