    Thanks Kayleena! What a neat little thing. And Eric, you are brave and bold in talking about your anxiety. Thank you, too. All the best from the Old World.

    Love this design! I can't wait to make one . And then I want to scale one up to fit my multitool too . Thanks for all the great ideas and tips you share . I have been leather working for many years but there is always more to learn.

    • @Corter
      @Corter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      oh that's such a great idea! We thought it'd be cool to scale for a little spray bottle of hand sanitizer and for chapstick too, and then we realized you'd be making a 40lb keychain 😂 but it would sure look cool!

      @@Corter can scale up for the kids for hand sanitizer to hang off their backpacks- totally going to do t. Carol Ann- Totally going to do one for my old Gerber... but may put the flap on the outside and stitch the top to make a belt loop to make it multifunctional.. great job Kayleena!

    I made my first one of these last night and it will definitely be followed by more. Design is darn near genius. I don't really mind stitching that much (I kind of go Zen on it) but it is refreshing to have a design that requires so little stitching. I can't imagine the mental contortions it required to originate the design. Beautiful job, you two! BTW, I love it when Kayleena laughs and says, "You're welcome, everyone."

    Awesome design! I don't think I've tried any of Kayleena's patterns yet, but I just cleaned my workspace off so this is the perfect piece to start back into things with!
    And I'm really glad things are looking up for you, Eric. I've been battling my brain since I was a kid, and the past few months have been some of my worst. You speaking out in solidarity has been one of the things that kept me going this week and I wish you all the best moving forward.

      I hope you're on the up and up soon too! I've been waiting for the new meds to kick in - one of those things where you can like...feel it will work eventually, but it's not working quiiiiiiite yet haha - we'll both get through it, just gotta be gentle on ourselves :) Kayleena's patterns are intense and super fun, she's got such a great style that's a lot different from mine. I think you'll like it! Though I'd also recommend her insanely cool coin case pattern too, that's my fav of hers so far (though some of the stuff she's got coming up is really, really amazing)

    Kayleena inspired me to try to make a one piece, wrap lip balm case. It kind of worked. Just one Sam Brown Stud keeps it together and closed. Still have to tweak it a bit. My design process is a combination of both of you. I use Fun Foam to make a working, leather substitute 'thing'. Then I measure and take it into the computer. After that, it is normal cut out and assemble. (with a bunch of alterations to the pattern) Thanks Kayleena. Inspiring. Thanks Eric!

    I’ve made lighter cases. Didn’t need one on a key ring or a hook. Then I saw you pull the flap cover and realized it would facilitate the exchange. My current one I can’t pull out of the case. It was a slimmer model bic copy cat and I’d shoved it in with a thin piece of something wrapped around it. Yeah it stayed out all right!
    Got me a copy of your pattern. Good design Kayleena!
    Hang in there, Eric. I don’t have a lot of anxiety anymore. I’m a face your fears type. A friend shared recently that when she travels on high bridges and overpasses (one of my things) that she uses that ‘fear’ as a reminder to lean in on God and use the time for prayer. Overpasses are a lot easier now.
    Got into leather for a few reasons, the fun of it and creating things in a new medium was huge but my “leather is cheaper than therapy” line isn’t just funny. It sure helps. A lot of things. It may also be a lie rofl I’ve spent an awful lot on leather🤣
    I’m rambling. It’s what I do. Prayers for your journey and finding your way out of anxiety. Everyone’s journey is different. Use the time to lean into God.

    I never learned how to light those lighters without singing my fingers, so I always use the little ones with the "spout" part. I thought it would be cool to try and use this design to an extent, but change it enough to fit that spout. So thank you for the great design, I look forward to seeing what I can do!

    Eric, are you sure that 1/4 inch was added to the pattern before it was published online? I made 4 of these after getting the pattern the first day it was offered and THEN I bought the Bic lighters to put in them. All 4 are short about 1/4 inch. Aaargh! Not a big deal. It's a small amount of leather and time involved and I LOVE the design and it could easily be something *I* did wrong. I only mention it because you might want to double check. Love your patterns, love your videos! You and K are the best!

    Hey, You mentioned in other videos to write in the comments if we would like to see something specific in one of your videos. Could you make a video about when you should buy new tools? Specifically, upgrades and tools for expansions, ie a press or other such expensive investments. Thanks for all you do. I've just gotten started, so I don't plan on it soon. I'm still cutting, skiving, stitching, and punching my lights out like you recommended. At least until I can do it very well. Also, I was wondering if you would recommend a good skiving knife to me? I got one as part of a set of bevels, but I found I have to strop it constantly to keep it cutting and not tearing...

    You may have touched on this in another video, but how do you go about maintaining your Weaver diamond chisels? I ordered some recently and they have a weird defect where the tines on the six have these deep horizontal cuts that make it stick really bad after punching. I’m trying to find a way to file it down without messing up the diamond shape. Awesome content as always!

      @@BacchatusJade For sure, I’ve been talking with them about an exchange. In all fairness, they’re only $20 for the whole set so I knew they wouldn’t be perfect going into it. I’ve got a pretty nice set of Kevin Lee French irons that I use regularly but wanted to try these for the 5mm spacing.

    I keep running into an issue and I'm curious if you have any tips. I also use #2 Xacto blades but no matter the brand I buy, I'm constantly snapping the very tip of my blades while cutting and the broken pieces end up embedded in my cutting mat and wind up scratching my projects. Do you have any tips to avoid accidental breakage or any techniques for gentle but firm pressure?

    • @Corter
      @Corter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that happens to me sometimes too, but yea - it's usually that I'm pressing too hard trying to make too tight of a curve. Try lighter passes when that happens, and/or make sure the blade is nice and sharp. Every once in a while they'll get dull and I wont notice I'm cranking down on the blade and it'll snap like that haha.
