    Great inspirational video...I did not even know I wanted a fireplace in my RV until I saw yours! We have a Premier Bullet as well and I appreciate the time you put into making this video.

      Thanks Abby, it’s really nice to not go through propane like we do coffee. Using the campgrounds Electric is a much better way. It keeps us very cozy in the entire camper!

    For those installing a fireplace what you want to do is set the unit on a couple of blocks so the top edge of the fireplace just covers that gap. You want the gap on the bottom to draw in cooler air from the floor and not the hot air being output from the unit. You can then install a grate on the bottom gap to allow for circulation. You could also cover the bottom gap and instead drill some intake holes thru the bottom shelf down towards the floor. Otherwise you may burn out the fan in the fireplace and you'll definitely get a more efficient unit with circulation from the bottom.

      Great suggestion. I think I'll do this with my install.

    Great video. Upgrading to a bigger newer TT and most don’t have electric heater. Searching for DIY came across this video which is exactly what I want to do.

    Thanks Dan for video & info! We purchased the same fireplace (the 30") from Amazon & it fit perfectly in our cabinet opening of our RV with no adjustments needed! Thanks again, you did a great job!

    Love the fireplace that came with our RV. Unfortunately, we have had to replace it twice in 2 years. Under warranty. But, not sure why it doesn’t last. It does offer some nice heat in the living room combined with the Rv heating.

      I replaced a part in this one already too. I think it’s just the rocking, bouncing, slamming while traveling that gets the best of them.

    I have a Jayco with the exact same setup and you did exactly what I was thinking of doing. Myself though, I think I'll drill some nice ventilation holes in the top trim piece and place a small DC powered fan in there just for extra caution. Great video, thanks!

    I was thinking about building a base to raise it up, the screws would be just to hold it in like it is now.

    It's very nice but too thick in depth for our RV cabinet. You did a great install!

      @dan8220  ปีที่แล้ว

      They make different thickness that might fit yours. The new one I’m about to do is only 3” thick.

    Thanks for the video. I’m going to do this to my Apex 300. Here in the northeast (PA) I start camping end of March \ beginning of April. So I always run a space heater to cut down on furnace running and propane. This will be great and look great as well as cut down on clutter on floor. I just ordered the 33” one on Amazon. My cabinet opening is 30”w by 22 1/2 “ h with 2 1/2” trim on bottom I can trim down to fit the 23.43” h required. And I will sit it on a slid wood base built up from floor. I’m sure it will look as great as yours.

    Looks very nice. To save your amps mount you a 110v wall adapter to plug your fireplace into on the other side of your mount wire a 20 gauge drop cord 20 to 25 feet long in one of your outside storage boxes, then just plug your drop cord into the 110/120volt socket at the camp ground works great. and saves my amps. Don't use a cheap drop cord. Just saying my friend.

    Great job. My RV came with a fireplace but it was in the rear of the 5th wheel. The constant bouncing eventually made the fireplace fall out of it's cabinet. I'm going to have to get creative to "cushion" it when I reinstall. The factory job was totally inadequate and it is a quality make and model 5th wheel.

    Great video but i am trying to avoid to install the screws on the sides. Those silver screws are exposed and I want to hide them. So i took 4 of the screws off from top cover and drilled through my 2x4 and put longer screws. Nobody can see and it’s secured to the frame. My 2x4 runs horizontally on the bottom and top of the edge of the FP.

    If it was me I was just raised the heater up and leave the gap on the bottom as we all known heat rises and air would flow in from the bottom to keep the unit cool

      That’s a good thought. My worry was that over time it fall. I barely hand any bite in the screws that. Used to screw or to the cabinet which is made out of that extra cheap compressed wood. Could brace it up, in the end it seems to get plenty of air flow.

      I thought about that but didn’t want the weight of the fireplace constantly pulling on the partial board. That “wood” is not very strong at all, it’s all fake partial board that is wrapped with the wrapping paper fake wood wrap stuff. It’s own weight would eventually rip itself down from hitting potholes, railroad tracks and ruff roads overall.

  • @DavidBowen

    Did you have any issues overloading that circuit? with all those electronics I would think the fireplace would want it's own.

    • @dan8220
      @dan8220  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No I’ve had not issues. I have the fireplace, fans, and tv, in that outlet and no issues, I piped 2 fuse on the coffee pot outlet once because it in the outlet as the hair dryer bit other than that the fire place has has not caused any issue. You’ll see real quick how much you can run on circuit and what circuits are on the same breaker pretty quick. It’s no different than home with a space heater.

    Amazing job! I have the same travel trailer layout and have been searching TH-cam on how to do exactly this! Do you need any ventilation where you put the wainscoting? Thank you in advance!

    • @dan8220
      @dan8220  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Danielle. There does not have to be any venting. Per the manufacture the only requirement was about a half inch space from the back of the unit to any wall behind it. The cavity it sits in has plenty of space to draw air in.

    can I run my fireplace 24 7 for a week. and 2 oil nomas heaters during minus 5 weather ?

    • @dan8220
      @dan8220  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      DOUG FERGUSON
      That depends on the amps you have. A 30 amp id say no, 50 amp you’d be fine. A 50 amp system is actually a 100amps but a 30 amp system is a 30 amp system.
      Figure your fireplace is going to use about 12 amps, your 2nd oil radiant heater will use 11-12 amps that’s around 24 amps, then add your fridge, if that’s a residential fridge that about 3-5 amps. That bout maxes you there. Even without a residential fridge you could not run 3 items that used 10-12 amps each, at least on a 30 amp system.

    • @gladheateher4now
      @gladheateher4now 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dan hi ,I'm on 30 amps they run fine,I'm just wondering if it's OK to run the fireplace for a week not shutting it off.

      I’m not sure but I don’t think you want a real wood burning fireplace in a camper. That would be a guaranteed fire.
