This album had some great lyrics and powerful instrumentals. It really is one of the most underrated albums ever made in my opinion. It's definitely something that will endure the ages, for me atleast.
It looks like he’s being followed around by depression and anxiety, which often go together. He tries to live his normal life, but the stupid things done out of depression and anxiety make him annoyed and they add up. He’s the only thing in the way of his own escape. He tries to escape but then goes back home and falls asleep with them again, the unsuccessful escape adding to the desperation.
@@Heavilybased it can but also interesting to know what the writer intended, saying that sometimes I've misheard a lyric that changed the whole meaning of a song then was disappointed later when I found out lol
I remember me as a weird and confused 14 years old boy being hypnotised by this music video and this song. Now that I'm almost 29 (and I'm still weird and confused) I feel like that was a really magic moment of my life, rock and alternative songs, the beautiful music of MTV and the incredibile desire to fully live my life. I'm in quarantine right now (I live in the North of Italy) I think about my life all the time. I don't know if I'm happy or not, but I certantly know that music was and still is the best part of my entire life. Davide.
I’m about to turn 26 but honestly understanding wasn’t much of an objective until I came back to this song randomly and yeah it always had a story to tell
Truly. I always prized it as one of the best albums of the year above the “biggest” bands. Had it on repeat. Such a good concert tour too. Low key lots of banter indie venues…I felt so lucky to see them in Brooklyn bc they are from NYC and were so psyched to be there.
I found and listened to this song in late 2010, it was among my favorite study music playlist in my freshman year of college. Now it's 2017. Man, how time flies.
I WAS IN THE SAME BOAT. I heard it at a buddy's house on guitar hero then never again for a decade plus. But the sound was caught in my head until today. Painfully underrated
Verse 1] Making my escape Making my escape Tell myself that everything's in shape Everything's in shape But me How long can this take? How long can this take? Tell myself that everything is great Everything is great Well, how am I doin'? [Chorus] I got a great idea I'm gonna wait right here I got a great idea I'm gonna wait right here While everything is adding up, up, up Everything is adding up, up, up [Verse 2] Breaking both my hands Breaking both my hands Telling me to take it like a man Take it like a man I can't I don't understand I don't understand Please repeat whatever you just said Nothing's making sense Well, how am I doin'? [Chorus] I got a great idea I'm gonna wait right here I got a great idea I'm gonna wait right here While everything is adding up, up, up Everything is adding up, up, up [Verse 3] They're breaking both my hands They're breaking both my hands They're telling me to take it like a man Take it like a man Well fuck that I don't understand Said I don't understand Said please repeat whatever you just said 'Cause nothing's making sense Well, how am I doin'? [Chorus] I got a great idea I'm gonna wait right here I got a great idea I'm gonna wait right here While everything is adding up, up, up Everything is adding up, up, up
Back in 2008 I remember overhearing a student trying to impress some girls with his guitar. He was playing the exact tune from the start of this track and trying to somehow pass it off as his creation he'd just written (they clearly didn't know the song....) so I had to introduce them all to this gem. I'm sure he was grateful I prevented his copyright infringement case before it began :)
Haven't listened to this in years I saw a vids of a dog on Facebook trying to break through the gate it was entitled the great escape and I randomly think of this video
I was obsessed with this band while i was in high school. 14 years later and they frequent the same bar as me in Brooklyn. We've become friendly. Small world lol
I spent over a decade with the tune of this song floating around in my head with no way to look it up since I'd forgotten the lyrics. I finally remembered some lyrics and found a match, and my heart is aching. This song had me in a trance when I'd first heard it and is by far the worst earworm I've ever had. Hearing it again brought back the same somber but excited feeling I'd had the first time i heard it forever ago
I remember the original MV/visuals. Y’all were in a wooded park (I think) and suddenly dashed off at different paces. I distinctly recall one band member running with a cup of water as he struggled not spill it. Literally the first video I ever watched on TH-cam as a kid. It’s a core memory❤
This is a magnificent tune about modern times depression and how everybody starts to notice you're not okay, but the only thing you can do is wait a little more...
it is 9 pm. January 2024. i'm in the kitchen looking for snacks and this song plays in my head. haven't listened to it in a while and it's like a call from an old friend.
Entertaining video-and the song stands the test of time. Still got a great hook, danceable, sing along hook, fantastic concept lyrically and visually. Also fantastic in live performances!
This was one of my favorite songs of my childhood. I never knew how relatable this song truly is until I became a young adult. Burnout Revenge was the fuel to my childhood!
Esta canción la conocí en Burnaout y me gustó. Pero no note que al final del video el que canta estaba llorando 😢, dios no creí que la depresión fuera así.
Found some great videos through The Lonely Island original website...Nobody Move, Nobody Gets Hurt by We Are Scientists and Eagles of Death Metal too! EODM's best video is known by it's catchphrase: "The boy's bad news!" Song is featured in a lot of soundtracks but the music video features a guitar that plays people's clothes off, Dave Grohl and Jack Black. I'm not sure if Lonely Island directed that vid...but worth checking out!
Saw this at 15 and thinking it was “gay”….. I’m 28 now and this is still homoerotic as hell but also pretty deep when you look at the ending of the video… Still I love this fucking song…
Me playing Burnout revenge and making drift mpves with a broken car and smiling a lot because of this awesome music.❤

Thomas Patrick Parker there playing the album in full this year for the 10th anniversary get yourself down to one of the gigs will be epic
I agree with you mate
@@Curseofarosleaks I missed that tour even though they played near me, will never forgive myself lol
Me too
@@Curseofarosleaks saw this comment 5 years too late. Maybe I'll catch the 20 year tour

No thats the drummer and the other guy.
@superads91 why can’t it be open to interpretation? Everything is subjective
O

Looks like they need to lighten up a bit. They don't look like much fun

same age
Same here!
I’m about to turn 26 but honestly understanding wasn’t much of an objective until I came back to this song randomly and yeah it always had a story to tell
Fun fact about the video: directed by The Lonely Island's Akiva Schaffer, before they did the SNL Digital Shorts.
Hope you're better now :)
Saluti dalle Marche, 26
This song is my anthem. its been stuck in my head for a long time
Yeah me too and everytime I hear this it reminds me of compact type 1
We need a critical reappraisal of WAS in 2022. This album has aged so much better than most of their contemporaries
Truly. I always prized it as one of the best albums of the year above the “biggest” bands. Had it on repeat. Such a good concert tour too. Low key lots of banter indie venues…I felt so lucky to see them in Brooklyn bc they are from NYC and were so psyched to be there.
this song was a banger to do some takedowns on Burnout Legends back in the days
I found and listened to this song in late 2010, it was among my favorite study music playlist in my freshman year of college. Now it's 2017. Man, how time flies.
2022 is so sad and polarized
Try 2023 bro
Reading this in 24
I don’t think I can explain how long I have been searching for this song and the lengths I have gone to, easily say 7 years
Damn
Happy you finally found it

Still an absolutely great three piece band. Such a full sound. Such good choruses
good tune for racking up that takedown counter

The amount of nostalgia and happiness this song gives me is insane miss playing Burnout legends.
they will never know what this song meant to me when I 13
Let me guess, Burnout?
so true
They will if you tell them 🤷🏻♂️
Hahahahahaha
So many memories with this album. Timeless...
Excellent song wicked vid, love the dancing bit, Burnout rocks.
Love this song, Burnout Revenge.
Omdz this song always helped me win on Legends
same
The chorus would hit right when I'd get that big ass drift on the red bridge allowing me to overtake the other car
I don't understand why they don't have as much support if their songs are very good
They do , sell out gigs when there in UK small venues ! Top band🎸
Haven't listened to this in years I saw a vids of a dog on Facebook trying to break through the gate it was entitled the great escape and I randomly think of this video
Yeah that's angels, ancestors and spirit guides all at work mate X

Soundtrack 😙
This band and this song just made my summer.
Since no one else has seemed to say if, Shawn White snowboarding on the wii is what helped me find this song
Most underrated band of all time
I was obsessed with this band while i was in high school. 14 years later and they frequent the same bar as me in Brooklyn. We've become friendly. Small world lol
I wish I was three people. There'll be someone to talk to.
+iM3GTR no you don't
Sven Svensson But I'm so lonely...
are you comfortable being lonely?
Sven Svensson I'm not really. It was an unfunny joke comment.
Good

MTV's Discover and Download brought me here!
RIP middle school years!
burnout legends... memories...
And takedown & revenge
Heard this song in 2008 I think. It's taken me all that time to find it again!
essa música fez parte da minha infância
One of the first songs I ever learned to play all the way through.
I was today years old when I realised akiva Schaffer directed this
Also this is a banger in burnout revenge
I still hv this cd.

Legit one of my favourite songs just because of my Dad's PSP and a .cso copy of Burnout Legends.
Entertaining video-and the song stands the test of time. Still got a great hook, danceable, sing along hook, fantastic concept lyrically and visually. Also fantastic in live performances!
great tune and top comments are brilliant
Love Michael's face at 2:15
I HAVE to thank the Burnout games for showing me this legendary group.
You have to thank to Legends and Revenge
Love this band. They are soooo un-appreciated.
I still come back to this Song. Just love it. And i will be back very soon again. Thank you guys for this amazing Song.
This was one of my favorite songs of my childhood.
I never knew how relatable this song truly is until I became a young adult.
Burnout Revenge was the fuel to my childhood!
I haven't heard this song in 2 yrs, but I still know it by heart:)
i'm pretty sure hes saying "but me" because the phrase before that is "everythings in shape everythings in shape BUT ME"
Esta canción la conocí en Burnaout y me gustó. Pero no note que al final del video el que canta estaba llorando 😢, dios no creí que la depresión fuera así.
the singer reminds me of brett from FotC. awesome song.
BURNOUT lol ..the memories
Good job
finally, had the rhythm to this song stuck in my head for a week
The Lonely Islands directed this video. Wait wasn't this clip on thelonelyislands channel before?

Yup. Honestly introducing me to this album is my favorite thing The Lonely Island ever did, not to discount how great they are.
I've been listening to the under the sea version for so long that this version feels foreign now
do u like that version more?
Remember when they were on TV?
Damn -- those were good times that I wasn't wise enough to appreciate.
great muzik
Saw this at 15 and thinking it was “gay”…..
I’m 28 now and this is still homoerotic as hell but also pretty deep when you look at the ending of the video…
Still I love this fucking song…

I think its saying that some of us have too much going on in our lives and we need to just get away from it all sometimes, or it'll run our lives.
